Area
The town of Hartlepool rests on the North Sea coast, 7.5 miles north of Middlesborough and 17 miles south of Sunderland. Hartlepool offers an award winning marina which has seen a huge investment in regeneration projects, with a plenty of trendy restaurants and bars overlooking the coastline. There is also a shopping centre which is the third largest in the north east, a health and fitness centre and a multiplex cinema. Two miles down the coast brings you to the Saltholme RSPB Reserve, where seals and wading birds are regularly spotted. If you an ardent fan of Brenda Blethyn in Vera you will probably identify a number of places on the Headland and wider afield on Teesside which are used. There is even a day out you can book visiting the places in the North East where the series has been filmed! And before you settle down for the evening, just make sure you are not missing out one of the fabulous sunsets from the promenade. ( The sunrises are just as impressive but that may be too much of an ask! )

Region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Located on the sea front at Hartlepool Headland, the sea is only across the street, and can be viewed from both front-facing windows. Ideal for birdwatchers, who can watch seabirds even in bad weather. It is clean and well appointed, with free on-street parking and broadband. Shops are not far away, and there is a convenience shop within walking distance. Our one week stay went very well, and we are planning to return.

I have just come back from staying at twitchers rest and we have had a brilliant time. House was modern, clean with two large bedrooms with the most breathtaking views. It's literally a stone's throw to the most amazing beach. My 10 year old has loved exploring and we have done lots of family walks, even my old dog found a new lease of life. Would highly recommend for a family break
