Area
Situated just 10 miles from the main route to Skye is the small coastal village of Glenelg. Set on the shores of the Sound of Sleat, the village is surrounded by incredible, rugged scenery and has preserved its unspoilt beauty and sense of isolation, despite being within easy reach of the area's tourist attractions. Overlooking Skye, Glenelg is situated on a route once used by drovers from the island, crossing over the narrow Kyle Rhea straits to bring their cattle to market. Just a couple of miles away, on the Arnisdale road, visitors can find Sandaig bay - referred to as ‘Camusfearna’ by Gavin Maxwell in his novel Ring of Bright Water. There is even a cairn for his beloved otter, Edal. Glenelg is also home to the best preserved Pictish Brochs on mainland Scotland and is the site of the ruins of Bernera Barracks - an 18th Century garrison for English government troops that still stands next to the village.

Region
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

We had the most amazing time Over the festive period made all the more special with this wonderful cottage, you really can just turn up and enjoy your time as the cottage is fully equipped with all that you need. The extension and addition of log burner are superb - we sat and watched the seasons change as they do in Scotland but from the warmth of the cottage and log burner Everything is close by and really recommend the food at the Glenelg Inn Wildlife in and around the cottage from sheep, owls, otter, Stags, and various others to view That’s harry and Isabelle we will certainly be frequent visitors

Lovely well equipped house, gorgeous view when you get to see it, sadly we were very unlucky with the weather, fantastic wood burner which we used to full advantage.. We picked this cottage for its remote location for wildlife and night photography, on the first night we saw an amazing sky but unfortunately it rained almost constantly thereafter, but if you're looking to stargaze and you get a clear night then this property is definitely a winner. A point to note is that the access road is in very poor condition and the turn into the property is very tight therefore anyone arriving in a car with low(ish) suspension may struggle our Volvo grounded out at a couple of points so care is needed. Village shop stocks only basic essentials, Co-op in Kyle has everything you need. Glenelg inn warm and welcoming but kitchen is closed during the winter hours, opens (Thursday - Sunday nights). Would we return? Yes!

FABULOUS view.. We had a lovely peaceful and relaxing week in this beautiful part of Scotland; really got to know the area by exploring on foot and there are some super hidden gems if you just look. Would have been very keen to 're book for the same week next year - But, looking at the Sykes website the price has gone up CONSIDERABLY (not sure why ) same house, same view, same location, same facilities ..... Shame that nature's view - that is FREE - has such a cost put on it.

What a wonderful place Torgorm is. The house was clean, spacious and very well equipped. It had everything we needed. The view from the big window was amazing and was different every day. Glenelg is a beautiful place to stay with more than enough to do. It is very peaceful and tranquil and the food at the Glenelg Inn is great. Would definitely recommend Glenelg and Torgorm!

A fantastic house in a beautiful setting; a great location to relax.. Spacious and comfortable for our party of 6 adults. A short walk away from the beach and the Glenelg Inn which was warm and welcoming and served great food.

Torgorm is set in the most stunning location, looking out over the sea to Skye on a landscape that is always changing.. The cottage is perfectly well appointed, with plenty of room for a family of 6. We cooked in, and had everything we needed (and more) and also ate out at the Glenelg Inn; less than 5 minutes away. We didn’t use the TV once; just relaxed and walked and took in the location!

The switch to turn on the main oven not working.. (Wasn't a problem as we were able to use the top oven but needs noting). Otherwise this cottage was excellent.

Very disappointed with standard of accommodation & owners response. Location was nice but property was very dirty. - Fridge not emptied & smeared with food & mould - Dishwasher foul smelling with brown material inside -Towels stained - Hairs on bedding - Old used bedding put in bed side table lattice storage box Owner/cleaners response was to suggest it had been busy & our standard were too high. Cleaned the fridge ourselves, & still charged for the curtailed 1 night stay. Avoid.
