The cottage was great from the point of view of dog owners.. A terrific large grassed area perfect for dogs or children alike, which was clean and safe, with direct access into a small part of the woods beyond. The position of the cottage was good for us as we took day trips to Counties Clare and Roscommon, as well as other parts of Galway. Inside, the rooms were good sized apart from the kitchen, which was disappointingly cramped and basic. I had also expected it to be cleaner, especially given the Covid pandemic. The bedrooms were very quiet and we slept well. The mattresses were quite comfortable although the duvets were a bit thin for September and we needed to add blankets for extra warmth.

It was our first time booking a week away with Sykes/Hogans, having usually booked with Air bnb instead.. The property was large with plenty of space but sometimes lacked expected items. In the twin bedroom, there was nowhere to store clothes. Fortunately, our children took this room so brought their clothes down to our bedroom but this was not ideal and only worked as they were young enough (pre-teen) to not mind too much. The drawers in the two double bedrooms were dirty inside and the light switches needed cleaning. Normally we would have ignored this but under current circumstances we cleaned the drawers, switches then other high touch surfaces as we weren't confident this had been done. The tea-towels have obviously been used well over time so we were glad we had bought one as a gift to take home ...it is no longer a gift! Having said all that, the house was spacious and beds were comfortable, the area is lovely, the garden is huge and the garden chairs were lovely to sit out on. The wooded area around gives chance to fully relax and somewhere peaceful to retreat back to, which we really enjoyed. The roads were quiet enough for cycling and we had some lovely days out.

We arrived at Tommy Clarke’s cottage equipped with comprehensive and very useful instructions.. The cottage itself is large and spacious with everything catered for the couple of days we were there. We came accompanied by our two dogs who were delighted with the lovely underfloor heating and the cosy fire in the evening. The highlight for us was the woodlands that surround the cottage, so full of bird-song and hopping with wildlife - we saw frogs, red squirrel and deer. It was a magical experience, a private nature reserve in the middle of the gently rolling midlands countryside.

Was a beautifully appointed cottage in a quiet secluded rural area - all you could ask for in a getaway holiday.. Central enough to take scenic drives out to the Connemara coast and plenty of points of interest in the local and surrounding areas. Hosts extremely helpful and lovely to deal with.

It was fabulous staying at Tommy Clarke’s cottage.. The quaint but spacious cottage, was cozy and full of charm, and created a feeling of being on a woodland retreat, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was accessible to everywhere for those days that you wanted to sightsee, but provided a santuctary of peace and reflection at the end of the day. Loved this place and my dogs had plenty of exciting places to investigate.

Tommy clarkes cottage is a fantastic place to stay and explore galway and surrounding area ive stayed here with a friend and the dogs for the second year in a row. The cottage is warm and inviting very spacious, the grounds are large and spacious also great for the dogs just hope you dont like clean dogs after they have played in the woods. There are many places around the area where you can enjoy great company and good food. Roscommon is a beautiful town to visit, Galway has great shops , pubs and even beaches. Tommy clarkes cottage is a great retreat for anyone looking to get away from everything. The cottage is set out in the country but not that far away from the small village of balygar with its shops and local church.

The cottage was absolutely fabulous, warm, cosy & very well kept.. The land surrounding the cottage is stunning and the kids enjoyed exploring all around the cottage. It was lovely to watch all the birds feeding from the Bird Table, my son really enjoyed refilling the bird food, so much so, I had to buy one when we got home. We would definitely stay again.

A perfect location to relax and recharge or to use as a base for other excursions. Also, there are 12 acres of land ideal for walking the dog, and there is an abundance of wildlife including deer, squirrels, pine martins and too many birds to mention. This is the eighth year we have rented a house in Ireland and this has been the best ever, I will definitely be going back to this cottage again, roll on 2017!

A fantastic cottage with everything one needs for a holiday and more. There is a lot of space inside and outside and the interior is beautiful. The land surrounding the cottage is very peaceful and stunning. We enjoyed walking in the forest across from the house and relaxing in the cottage after visiting the west of Ireland. And it is dog friendly too! We will be back.

It's a lovely cottage, we stayed 5 nights and I can truly say it's five star self catering at a good price. I have seen a few self catering properties in Ireland and this is by far the best I have stayed in. It is in a very rural area but about 20min from Roscommon which has all amenities. The local village has all the basics too. A lovely stay, recommended.
