While this cottage was well equipped and very well presented, the description on the Sykes website states that there is a hotel/pub nearby.. This is not the case, since this hotel closed some weeks ago, so there is no facility for an evening meal in the village. The nearest possibility for a meal after six o'clock is either Poolewe (limited), or Gairloch, which is a 25 mile round trip. One of the main reason for booking this property was the proximity and possibility to enjoy an evening meal without having to cook each evening. Because of this, we decided to curtail our holiday, and returned home after four nights of our seven night holiday. We appreciate that the hotel was open when we made our booking some time ago, but feel we should have been informed about such a vital part of our stay. The fact that the website still states: "guests will appreciate the friendly local facilities with a busy hotel", is completely misleading. We would not have booked this holiday had we known about this situation. As it stands, we have paid for a seven day holiday, but only got the benefit of a four day stay before deciding to leave.

The heating was controlled from a switch behind a locked door.. The heating was on a timer and was set to go, off at a certain time of day, consequently when we arrived home late afternoon/early evening it was off. we called the owner on the Saturday night, There was difficulty in communication because of accents and conveying the problem. He did come out and opened the door. he said it should be on all the time but reluctantly left the door unlocked. This was just as well as it turned off every day and we had to put it on manual override.

Really excellent property.. Recliner chairs were a real bonus and really enjoyed conservatory and garden. Our dog really enjoyed herself too. Loch Ewe is a lovely location and I recommend this bungalow, it was the best place we stayed all holiday and very spacious and well planned. Directions should say that the bungalow is not on the main A road but coming from Poolewe is second turn left to Aultbea and bungalow then on right opposite fire station.

Top-notch accommodation in lovely area.. Really great home, with everything as advertised - practically perfect for our needs. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Our party consisted of five adults, including two with severe mobility issues, so the accessibility of the accommodation was what attracted us to this specific property. Our only recommendation for the owners would be to install grab rails in the wet rooms. Our two disabled members have asked me to pass this feedback on but otherwise join me in passing on our thanks for an outstanding stay.

This was an extremely well equipped, roomy and comfortable cottage.. Very comfy beds and excellent showers. The garden and conservatory were great sun traps, there was plenty of parking and the location was fabulous - with a well stocked shop and excellent pub within walking distance. Further afield there are great galleries and craft shops and wonderful hill, loch and coastal walks. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful week.. The accommodation was high quality. We would not rebook solely because we would want to explore other parts of the country.

6 of us came here as a family getaway with ages ranging from 75 to 21, travelling from north England, south east Scotland and the Trossachs! We couldn't have asked for more. The property on arrival was spotlessly clean and really well equipped with every mod con you could think of. The entire accommodation is very spacious with room to sit quietly and read or settle down to watch a movie. The beds were really comfy and wet rooms were ideal. The village store is welcoming and very well stocked. Lovely kippers from the local smokery were delicious. The gardens at Poolewe are well worth a visit at this time of year with the rhododendron walk in full bloom and the herons are nesting! Laide Forest walk was lovely with lots of wildlife to see and hear. Lovely beach walk on the Gairloch; not to mention the three Munro's our intrepid walkers managed in the week we stayed! Overall an excellent holiday and the cottage and location are fabulous for exploring the north of Scotland. Thank you very much! We would recommend this to anyone!

Lovely accommodation and a beautiful part of the country.. There were 6 adults in our party and we were all reluctant to leave despite the weather being a bit wet for June. We had a blast.

8 of us came here as a family getaway ranging all ages. We couldn't have asked for more. The property is equipped with every mod con you could think of, spacious, clean and very well maintained. The beds were really comfy and wet rooms were ideal. The aultbea hotel at the end of the road serves fantastic food and the guys that run it are lovely. A main bonus for us was how secure the garden was for our dog who is very inquisitive! The waterfall walk in Gairloch estate is great and The Old Inn pub serves lovely food. Thank you very much! We would recommend this to anyone!

This is a superb property which was beautifully presented and in excellent condition.. The attention to detail is second to none, with a high level of finish on everything, even down to the pillows which are Tempur pillows and very, very comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others.

High spec, up to date, spacious cottage in marvellous location, with all mod cons. Perfect for an extended family getaway. Gorgeous scenery, good food and drink nearby. The best that Scotland has to offer.

The holiday cottage was perfect, very modern, comfortable and very clean.. ....if your looking for a relaxing holiday away from the maddening crowd hen look no further. The local people are very friendly and help with any help or request. The beauty of the highlands are outside your front door, opening the blinds to see deer walking past your front gate..it can't get any better than that.

The house was designed to a very high specification. The garden was fantastic and the general location was private but still in 2mins walking distance to the hotel and shop. It is a perfect house for a family with enough space for everyone and a supply of helpful books and guides. We would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and family and already plan on returning for Easter.
