The heat did not work upstairs for almost 4 days (arrived on Saturday and fixed on Tuesday afternoon).. Michael was brilliant and kept bringing around turf and logs for the fire but honestly, why wasn't this checked before we arrived? The tablecloth had crumbs and butter on it (as did the placemats), the extractor fan/kitchen light didn't work, the cold tap on the sink in the downstairs bathroom didn't work, 3 of the cooking pots were rusty and unuseable, the DVD selection was poor (and this mattered as their is no internet -- which was fine and what we were expecting), the sitting room desperately needed a coffee table and some side tables and lamps (we brought a few lamps in from the bedrooms). In the original description of the house, a hot tub was advertised but I noticed after I made an enquiry if there was an actual hot tub, that was taken down. There was a Jacuzzi bath in the en suite but the Jacuzzi part didn't work and since the heating was off upstairs where the master bedroom was, it was too cold to use that bathroom (plus no hot water upstairs. We did enjoy the open layout of the house, the lovely light, the close location to Kilkee and Kilrush but honestly, some one needs to vet the cottage properly before you charge people money to stay there.
