Thorn Cottage is just over a mile from the centre of Chagford set in rural countryside. The cottage was extremely comfortable with plenty of space in all the rooms. I loved the personal touches, from teddy bears on the landing, games and jigsaws in the cupboard, to great paintings on the walls. The kitchen had everything for your needs. There were maps and reference books for you to look at. The garden had a table and chairs by the backdoor, a summerhouse and a BBQ area. The pond at the bottom of the garden had a rowing boat and a lifebuoy..

Loved my stay here in this clean, well-kept, cottage within walking distance of Chagford. In close proximity of lots of hiking routes and great local pubs... perfect days spent hiking in the day and cosy by the log fire at night. Picturesque cottage with a large kitchen, spacious bedrooms and cosy living rooms. Already planning my next trip back!

We really enjoyed our second stay at Thorn Cottage.. It feels like home from home. We love this charming thatched cottage in its green and lovely rural setting. The sunny aspect and abundance of wonderful wild flowers make it a special retreat - and treat!.

This is the perfect place to stay indeed. The cottage is beautiful, you have more than you can expect, a fantastic fireplace, cozy rooms, great light and every single detail is just amazing. Also the landscape, the surroundings and the great cream teas in town make this stay the perfect getaway for anyone.

Lovely cottage that felt like home from the moment we arrived.. Real fire in lounge lovely , the size of rooms great and the dining table was excellent for my daughter to use to study for her exams! Local pubs excellent and had an amazing meal at The Three Crowns for our wedding anniversary. The Ring o Bells served a great value Sunday lunch. Hoping to visit Devon again soon. Thank you .

I have stayed at this charming cottage many times. It sits in a perfect location just outside the lovely village of Chagford with it's excellent pubs and restaurants. Thorn Cottage is the most delightful house I have stayed in during my many visits to Dartmoor. As soon as you step inside the cottage you feel completely at home. For those wanting to get away this is the place to escape to. A home from home for all seasons. The house and location is ideal for couples, families, dog lovers, ramblers, runners, cyclists, foodies, birdwatchers and couch potatoes! I love it and will be coming back in May.

Have read about Chagford many times and the hamlet of Thorn, 15 mins walk is an absolute beauty comfortable with amazing views you feel isolated but still within a thriving community I would say it is a 4 seasons cottage. In the winter you want to be sitting on the lawn by the private lake and in the summer those open fire places look so welcoming... well stocked and judging by the guest/visitors book I am not alone in my thoughts

So luck to have found the lovely Thorn Cottage. We stayed late September & the colours were beautiful, the cottage it’self is just so quaint, homely & a real piece of history. Would recommended staying here if you like walking, great pub lunches, and real fires. Oh & our dog love it too, esp the moor. Stephen
