Area
Ballymena is an old town situated between the more modern Ballymoney and the thriving city of Belfast. The town was established in the 17th century, and it has maintained its tradition of holding weekly Saturday markets, which attract a wide variety of merchants from the surrounding area. It is also home to the Mid-Antrim Museum, which features a theatre with seating for four hundred visitors in a modern glass structure. Walks along the Braid River and through People's Park are also popular activities for tourists. If you're in the mood for a night out and don't feel like cooking, you can choose from the town's many cafes, restaurants, and pubs like The Smoking Monkey Bar & Grill and The Blackstone Bar. Belfast, the capital, is conveniently located not far from town, and it is home to many fascinating historical sites, such as the Ulster Museum, the Titanic Museum, and the infamous Crumlin Road Gaol. You can also visit the nearby parks (Ormeau Park is bordered by the River Lagan, and Victoria Park is bordered by Conn's Water) and refuel at one of the many local eateries or bars including, Fountain Lane, Morning Star Bar & Restaurant, The Jailhouse, featuring live music.
