Area Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. There are several pretty beaches within a short distance, including North Sands and South Sands, plus the coves East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary, just a short passenger ferry ride away. Also on your doorstep is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, coasteering, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe, take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking on the South West Coast path.

Truly amazing views from this lovely house.Ideal for family groups. Facilities excellent. Recently upkeep of the house has slipped markedly. Housekeeping poor with a very dirty slate kitchen floor and disgusting toilet brushes. Badly damaged pans and a shredded sun umbrella that was unusable. A damaged warming draw broken and left protruding which was a danger to our little ones.
We were left with bites all over our bodies after sleeping and were told that the owners refused to have it checked out because it was ‘Too much hassle.’ Sadly, whatever the cause this presents a danger to any family choosing to stay here.
The dreadful way this was handled by both the owners and the rental company means that we would never choose to stay here again for reasons of safety.

Stayed at this beautiful home to celebrate a special birthday. We are Family with adult children and young grandchildren. The house is amazing, superbly decorated and furnished and kitted out with everything that you could need. 5 star hotel beds and pillows. Amazing kitchen with circular breakfast bar, not seen one like it before and plenty of utensils and crockery for a large group. There was nothing we didn't like about the house, even the steps up to it as it gives you an amazing elevated position. We had a wonderful relaxed weekend and would definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at The Sands! The house was stunning and the view was absolutely incredible. Sadly half the group didn’t make the first night because of the snow but we still had the perfect weekend away catching up with old friends and making new memories. Little hiccup with the bins but a friendly and swift response by the Sykes cottages team with advice. Would definitely love to come back!

The accommodation is not suitable for somebody who has difficulty in walking or health problems as there are 46 steps to get into the property.. Plus the position of the house is on the hill and therefore once you have walked into Salcombe it is uphill all the way back. However we enjoyed both the area and the property.
