With lashings of colour and plenty of natural light streaming in through the dual-aspect windows, it has to be said that this apartment in a traditional Brooklyn row house is instantly uplifting.
Look a little closer, however, and you'll find lots of nifty design touches, from the wicker egg chair and the turf-like feature walls to the cerulean-toned kitchen large enough for prepping family-sized feasts. The bedrooms and bathrooms play it comparatively simple.
While the home in and of itself is worthy of a place in our collection, the fact that the location is so good is an added bonus. Prospect Park can be reached in a little over five minutes' walk and offers plenty of walking routes, picnic spots and even a zoo. The Brooklyn Museum is only a quarter of an hour on foot as well, but Manhattan's cultural destinations aren't that far away, either – the MoMA takes thirty-five minutes on the subway, for instance.
Home truths: *A cot and high chair can be provided upon request
*There's no on-site parking, but there's limited free on-street parking available
*The home is on the second floor of a building with no lift, so it might not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility
