The Piggery Bellevue is located in the quiet village of Leysmill near Arbroath (5.. 6 miles). The cottage is set in the grounds of the larger house owned by the proprietors Chris & Marian Pyke and Marian made us very welcome upon arrival and was always available should you need anything, other than that you're left in peace to do your own thing. The cottage is furnished to very high standards and wants for nothing, it has gas & electric for cooking, wi-fi, freeview TV and provides heating via wood burning stove and/or oil filled radiators if you don't fancy using the wood burning stove. Bedding, linen and towels are all provided in the cost so no need to bring your own. We opted to use the oil filled radiators and the cottage was very warm and cosy throughout our stay. The cottage is ideally situated for those wishing a quiet & relaxing break away from the hustle & bustle of normal life and is a fantastic base for those wishing to tour the surrounding areas and beyond.
With access to some truly superb beaches i.e. Lunan Bay, St. Cyrus' and fabulous walking through the numerous wildlife reserves and glens it's truly a walkers paradise. Visits to Arbroath, Carnoustie, Stonehaven and Montrose give plenty of opportunities to look into local history although, if you're booking late in the season many local attractions may be closed or have limited opening times. Still more than enough to make your stay interesting though as some are open all year round. Recommend a visit to Arbroath Abbey and Bell Rock Signal Tower Museum but it's the glorious beaches that are the real winners, mile upon mile of beautiful, clean beaches with nary a soul in sight to disturb your thoughts as you wander along, taking in the views.
The Piggery Bellevue is recommended without hesitation and I for one would definitely go back in the future.
