Property Description

Holiday home
The Onibury is located in the stunning Shropshire countryside, near to the famous market (and foodie heaven) town of Ludlow. The Onibury is one of three barns that nestles in the grounds of a 2000 acre country estate where guests are welcome to walk and take in the glorious views on your doorstep. The Onibury is located on one level, with no internal steps. Once inside you will find a large, open plan kitchen / living dining area, where you can relax and watch your fellow guests create glorious meals in the well appointed kitchen. If you would prefer a bit more peace and quiet, then retreat to the living room, and lose yourself in a good book, or catch up with the day's news. For large families or groups of friends, then The Onibury is well equipped with 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Outside the barn there are extensive grounds to explore and you have access to a shared bar b q to enjoy on balmy summer evenings. In addition, The Onibury also has shared access to a heated indoor swimming pool which you can book to use exclusively for your party and use of a hard tennis court so don’t forget your racket. We felt that The Onibury is a great choice for a good sized party group looking for spacious accommodation with great facilities on site and also some excellent places to visit nearby. A superb place for a get-together or family holiday. Please note that image numbers 15, 31 and 36 show The Shooting Lodge - a fabulous communal room which, subject to availability can be booked at an additional cost

Area
The small market town of Craven Arms, known as The Gateway to the Marches is conveniently located between the beautiful medieval town of Ludlow and delightful Church Stretton. Craven Arms is an ideal base, which nestles close to the scenic Wenlock Edge and Corvedale Valley with fine walks from the town to lovely Stokesay Castle, one of England's finest fortified manors, or the very popular Shropshire Hill Discovery Centre. The town also has some charming and historic houses, including a round house, thought to be a recognisable rest house for pilgrims travelling between Wigmore and Shrewsbury Abbeys and the fascinating 'Museum of Lost Content'. Just two miles away in the village of Wistanstow is the Plough Inn, a good local wood brewery. Church Stretton is close by and nestles between the Long Mynd and Caradoc Hills, renowned for their scenic walks and excellent golf course. The historic towns of Bishop's Castle, Ludlow and Shrewsbury are a short drive away, and offer magnificent castles, riverside walks, wonderful shops, pubs, restaurants, exciting theatres and a variety of festivals. This is a perfect base for touring all of beautiful Shropshire at any time of the year.

A E Housman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
