Perfect little retreat in a stunning location.. Cottage was ideally situated for a walking week in the Brecon Beacons. Couldn't fault the cottage. Many walks on the doorstep.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location.. Close to 2 very nice dog-friendly pubs and canal - so ideal for walking the dog. A small cottage but very intelligently laid out so there was space for everything you need for a week away. I'd definitely recommend for a couple with a dog for a break.

Lovely cottage - very compact but great design so room for everything without feeling cramped. In a small village with 2 great pubs - the Towpath Inn and Corn Exchange, the first of these just a few yards from the front door. Great location for exploring the Brecon beacons - loads to do and see in beautiful countryside. No private outside space but close to the canal so ideal for dog walking, We had a great week there.

Beautiful cottage, warm and cosy.. Perfect for me and my dog when staying for the Crickhowell walking festival. The canal is right behind the cottage and enjoyed some lovely walks meeting lots of people and dogs. The pub was friendly next door, pizza on a Friday delicious. Fish n chip shop great also. I even went Welsh dancing in the village hall. A great location.

This was our third stay at the Old Stable - and we can't wait to go back! It's in a perfect spot, surrounded by beautiful scenery and just a few steps from the canal.. The village has two general stores, a butcher's, a chemist's,, everything we needed. We used the local bus service for our travels - Abergavenny is a must and easy to get to, we also visited Cardiff and Brecon. The cottage is perfect for two people - we wish we owned it so we could stay there permanently!

The info regarding parking needs updating, yes there is parking opposite the property, but between 8.. 00am and 6.00pm it is restricted to 1 hour only, and you cannot return for 2 hours, there is a Free Car Park in the village, which is a few minutes (depending on ability) from the cottage. In fairness the Owner Mr Jones emailed us with this information, but the info you sent out needs refreshing

Lovely cottage.. Bit smaller than I was expecting but it's lovely. Storage is well thought out. I felt very comfy and at home. Just a pity I had to go to work every day. Lovely location. I would suggest a curtain over the front door to make it more cosy. But both me and my dog were happy. So thank you. Would go back.

Good location regarding access to main roads.. Good local walks. Cottage small but cosy and well set out. Parking a short walk a few minutes away but did not cause us a problem in October half term. Only negatives sofa rather uncomfortable and quilt too small for bed.

Enjoyed the area locals extremely friendly.. Car parking in the summer could be a bit of problem if the traffic wardens decide to do some work. We took by cycles with us but had no where to put them except on the rack of the car. Overall a great holiday.

This is a great cottage in a quiet village with a friendly pub and a couple of convenience stores with several large supermarkets a few miles away in Abergavenny.. There is a canal very close to the cottage providing good walks along the tow path. Car parking is available free of charge in the village car park and the fish and chip shop near to the cottage is well worth a visit.

Situated near Abergaveny in Gilwern, a friendly village with shops including a butcher, Pubs that do good food. There is a fish and chip shop I would recommend too. This It is a good location for walkers and cyclists, the canal tow path is very close by. The Stable cottage is a good base for exploring the Brecon Beacons and the Black mountains. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise on arrival.

A wonderful cottage in a lovely location.. The only negative being that the no off road parking didn't cause any real problems, just slightly inconvenient.

Updates on local facilities.. Closest 2 pubs had closed down. It was listed as small but we didn't realise it would be this small so felt a bit claustrophobic. The bed was very uncomfortable. It's a dog friendly place but our dog struggled with the slippy wooden spiral stairs. On a positive a welcome basket of goodies was great. The way they had maximised the use of space and have all you need was good. Parking was not a problem.

A rather small but cleverly designed unit with more than adequate facilities.. Lack of handy parking is unfortunate, the nearby free car park is a bit of a trek when it's wet.

A very comfortable, clean, cosy and quirky little cottage surrounded by beautiful countryside and only two or three minutes walk from pubs and shops yet in a peaceful location.. Ideally placed for touring the region and glorious walks only a stone's throw from the door. We will certainly be going back again later in the year. Highly recommended.

The Old Stable is in an ideal situation to explore this part of Wales. Its closeness to the canal makes it ideal for early and late dog walks without resorting to the car. A very comfortable cottage.

It was a lovely place to spend a few days. It was small but in a good way, perfect for a couple. Gilwern is very nice and the people were very friendly. We were both very happy with our stay. The internet and other electronics were all very good.
