The Old School Cottage Self-Catering

Holiday home
The Old School is a delightful cottage, formerly the village school, and is next to the owner's home. The cottage is situated close to the Westmorland Showground, the village of Endmoor and is just four miles from Milnthorpe and can sleep four people. The cottage has a ground floor double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a double bedroom, a ground floor bathroom, a kitchen with breakfast bar and a sitting room with a dining area and an electric fire. Outside there is off road parking for three cars, lockable bike storage and a lawned garden to the side with a patio area and furniture. The Old School is a lovely base for a restful holiday.

Once an important medieval market town, the settlement of Milnthorpe is located in the southern Lake District between Kendal and Carnforth. Just a few miles from the seaside village of Arnside, evidence of Milnthorpe's history can still be found amongst the narrow lanes and historic buildings, illustrating a time before the motor car. Set in lovely rolling countryside, the area also offers many great outdoor activities including the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis with its tropical hall and butterfly house. Dallam Tower and Levens Hall - both of which are historic stately homes with deer parks, topiary and ornamental gardens - provide a great day out for visitors. Other excellent attractions include Leighton Hall, Sizergh Castle, the Great Lakes Aquarium, Windermere and Grizedale Forest – all of which are located within easy reach.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Oil central heating with electric fire. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, WiFi. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking within a walled garden. Lockable bike storage. Lawned garden to side with patio and furniture. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 2 mins walk, pub 4 mins walk. Note: Property on a narrow country road. Note: There is an internal door leading to the owner's accommodation which is locked on both sides. Note: No children under 10 years old.

We have stayed here many times now, it's a fine place to stay..

A great break in a wonderful cottage.. Everything had been thought of by the owners, from a wonderfully equipped kitchen to nicely coordinated colour schemes in each room. The en-suite bathroom was a real bonus.

We enjoyed this cottage very much.. ...there was a large car park. Bedroom with en suite was very comfortable. There was also another full bathroom which we didn't need to use along with a first floor bedroom which we didn't use. The kitchen was extremely well equipped...very charming in red and white. Everything worked perfectly and there was every conceivable utensil you would need. The dishwasher was very efficient - I only used it once. The living room is different in that as this was an old school the windows are high....there are lots of lights to use when it gets dark and this makes it cosy. All in all this is a very good comfortable cottage. The owners are helpful and charming.

Have just returned from our third visit to this super cottage.. The location is an ideal touring base and the cleanliness of the property is second to none. I & D from Moray.

A handy, comfortable place which has most facilities you need. We went as a family at Easter and it was very easy to find: just off the M6 motorway! It has nice decor and a couple whio tell you about the history of the place. I left a suggestion there that it could do with a washing machine and possibly a DVD player. Ideal for Lake District, Morcombe beach and Dales.

Further to my telephone conversation of yesterday evening; we had a few complaints , it lists the pub restaurant is 4 mins from the cottage ,shop 2 mins.. Pub on a very busy road part of the way no footpath you need high vis jackets it also took my husband 12 mins, shop 4mins although the shop is a 24hr garage on the same main road it has a footpath. We booked this cottage for the nearness of pub and shop as l have mobility problems. The cottage is NOT a cottage apart from the bedroom upstairs the owners sleep upstairs as you hear them walking around, therefore it's a ground floor apartment with afirst floor bedroom. We had to ask if they had a higher chair which they brought 2 cushions in to put on the sofa, which is less than a foot off the floor. We had to get my family to bring a director's chair other than that l would have had to sit on a dining chair for the week. We also had to ask them to put the garden /patio furniture out, this is not in the best of order. We are the third family to stay in this property, New season l wonder what it will be like by the end of summer. Very disappointed, please make sure others staying are fully aware of situation of property, which is not in a village and with out easy access to a pub / restaurant.

A lovely cottage which we enjoyed staying in.. It was very clean and comfortable and in a great location. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and we were welcomed with a delicious homemade cake. I would be happy to recommend this cottage to other people.

Es, it rained every day! ,, The booking system is very easy and all the properties look splendid. The Old School could not have been better - very friendly people and cottage had everything we needed and was a superb base for the lakes and dales, we all loved it.

The location was very good for access to M6 and The Lakes.. The hosts made us very welcome and included thoughtful actions such as milk in the fridge and a home made chocolate cake ready to tuck into!

A great place to stay if you want easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and The Lake District. Warm comfortable house with all the amenities. Plenty of room to park off the road.

This is our second visit to The Old School and it completely suits our needs.. My 92 year old mother had her own en-suite bedroom on the ground floor and everything you need for a self catering break is provided. The location is ideal for exploring the area. Highly recommended.

The location was perfect, the house itself was brilliant we had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. We were very happy with the house, and the hosts were lovely. The house had a lovely feel to it and I would be interested to see what it used to look like as a school. 10/10, we would recommend!

The cottage was lovely and had everything we could have possibly needed and more! It was ideally situated for South Lakes and West Yorkshire. It was spotlessly clean and the owners made us feel very welcome. The photos on the website do not do it justice, it is much nicer than they show. We hope to return next year.

We loved everything about the cottage. The situation is ideal as it is not only near the M6 but within easy driving distance of the lakes. It has the added bonus of being away from the crowds but near a couple of very good restaurants. Mr and Mrs Sanderson were marvellous hosts and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect.
