What a beautifully finished renovation. All the fixtures and fitting are top class, bathrooms are very well appointed, with plenty of hot water for a family of 5 adults and 2 toddlers!! The hot tub is a wonderful addition, as we spent most evenings in it, instead of going looking for a pub!! Perfect base location for trips around North Wales. Owner is very pleasant and helpful, with no issues arising, we didn't have much contact!!

We stayed here in October half term as 2 families. 2 kids, 2 teens and 4 adults. We found the space was just right for our party. The children mostly used the snug, we took 1 Xbox and plugged it in there which meant they had their own space and us adults used the main living area. The property has a selection of games, we enjoyed playing poker. And the littles played snakes and ladders. The wifi signal isn’t great within the house, much to the teens disappointment they had to stay down stairs if they needed to use their laptops or phones. The hot tub was a huge hit with everyone, it can comfortably fit 4 people in at one time. The men made use of the sauna which was a little different to other properties around. The family bathroom has a nice oval shaped bath and a large walk in shower. We did experience issues with the shower being slow to drain away, the cleaner did come straight out with some drain unblocked but it didn’t really help, the owner is aware and I believe trying to resolve the situation. We couldn’t use the secure onsite parking as our Discovery 5 couldn’t fit through the gateway, however there was always space out the front or down the side of the house where the owner has a garage. We did park to the side of the house on the first day and got a note on the car from neighbours saying residents only. After this we were offered the spaces next to the owners garage so it wasn’t an issue. The main road is a busy one but with the windows shut you cannot hear it too badly. The house was in overall clean condition , There was the odd cobweb, a fair few flies seemed to appear each day and we did find some of the oven trays, dishes , pots and pans were dirty from previous guests. We have a little OCD so re washed everything we used before using it! There was only just about enough knifes and forks, as long as you wash up as you go along you won’t run out. You will need… Washing liquid, sponges, toilet rolls( 1 per Room provided) extra bin bags, Tea towels (2 are provided) Tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Logs if you wish to use the fire. Each sink did have a liquid hand soap. Each bed had a hand towel and small towel ( you may want to bring a bath sheet) Overall we had a really pleasant stay and would book this property again if we were to come to wales.

This was our second choice after our first was cancelled late in the day. We were a group of four single people using it as a base for walking, and the location and the indoor space generally worked well for us. However, there were some shortcomings. Upstairs there are four bedrooms. The main room is massive and bedrooms two and three are a good size, but the fourth is tight for space and has two single beds yet no bedside tables, lamps or mirror. This is an eight-person house with only one ensuite which, if it were fully occupied, would mean six people sharing the main bathroom (which is lovely, spacious and does have a fantastic shower!). Oh yes, and the floorboards upstairs are very creaky which makes it quite noisy downstairs if anyone is walking around above. Downstairs, the snug area was lovely, roomy and comfortable and the open plan kitchen, dining, living area was also good, with folding doors outside. The kitchen is generally well-equipped although a larger group would need more cutlery, and there were only six dining chairs which, again, would present problems for a group of eight. The house is on a very busy, and noisy road. If you keep all the windows and doors shut the double-glazing does its job, but if you want to let any air in (which can be a challenge as the windows don't open very wide) or sit outside, then the traffic noise comes with it. We parked easily on the road outside the house so we didn't need the vehicle access to the back (where the hot tub and sauna are). There were limited cleaning materials provided and we were surprised not to find any sort of welcome pack - not even a pint of milk. Overall the house worked reasonably well for us given we were only four and we were only using it to eat and sleep in, but we thought it was a bit over-priced and lacking in a few basics. Ruthin itself has a small but charming town centre, but the options for eating out are a bit limited. We cooked for ourselves six nights out of seven and used the large Tesco and the Co-op for food shopping which provided everything we needed.

The property is wonderful, really comfy and so clean.. The hot tub and sauna are a really nice touch! After we arrived we had a knock at the door from the lovely cleaner lady who came to see if we were okay and settled in well. She also went through the hot tub and sauna instructions with us and said if we need anything we are welcome to knock her door. Bryan who owns this property is a lovely man, he also owns the garage next door and really helped us out with one of our car’s that had to be towed for the remaining 3 hours of our journey. He phoned and told us not to worry about the car him and his men will fix it for us so just enjoy our time away and don’t worry about it. This really made our trip as otherwise we would have been stuck. Thank you so much Bryan, we really enjoyed our stay. The only things I think would be useful to add is that it would be useful to have a broom and dust pan to be able to sweep up and some kitchen spray to clean away. Also some more dishwasher tablets as we were only left 2 (staying 4 days with 4 adults & 3 children) This property is in a great location.

The house is beautiful, very spacious and couldn’t fault it much.. The facilities are minimal. The hot tub was not a suitable size for 8 people unless you don’t mind sitting on each other knees. The owner seemed lovely but became very awkward when it came to returning our full bond

Great place and spotless .. A lot of thought has been put in to the refurbishment of this property and we had a great stay Only one thing, I am still chasing the £250 we paid for housekeeping bond 4 days later which should have been returned after 48 hours Sykes just say owner must have been busy . Not good enough so disappointed to say the least and dykes not helpful

I would expect the owner of a holiday cottage to be able to have any equipment repaired within a reasonable timescale.. The hot tub stopped working on the Monday and wasn’t fixed until after we had left on the Friday and although the Monday was a bank holiday it is 2019 where things are available 7 days a week. When you book a cottage with a hot tub the you do so for a reason. Yes I appreciate that things can fail but this wasn’t acceptable and neither was the compensation offered. The good housekeeping bond wasn’t returned as advised either which was disappointing. Difficult to be enthusiastic when one of the main reasons for booking the cottage wasn’t available for more than 50% of the holiday.

We were very pleased with our week at The Old Nags Head.. The house was modern and spacious and our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The surrounding area was varied with lots of interesting days out although the weather wasn’t too good. The owner was friendly and helpful, a good time was had by all. Thank you

7 of my friends and I needed a quiet girly weekend away and after a look on Sykes Cottages website we found this delightful cottage in the lovely town of Ruthin.. The owners of the cottage have thought of everything from cutlery to the hot tub, and the finish of the cottage is amazing. The only thing i'd recommend is taking some tea towels and kitchen roll because these aren't provided, and also to add that the hot tub seats 4 people (worth mentioning because the cottage sleeps 8, so all 8 people won't be able to get in at the same time). There is plenty of parking through the single access gate, which you can see at the front of the property and Ruthin town is only a short walk from the cottage. It's a lovely town with plenty to see and do, and some really nice restaurants. We can't wait to come back here :)

A few issues with the stay as the eek progressed Could do with anti-slip mats in both walk in showers in house.. . Outside shower for sauna didn't work.. Had issue with drainage backing up through kitchen sink from dishwasher. Black bins not collected on bin bag day Tuesday? Main bathroom toilet seat loose.. Other than those few minor issues. The house was very comfy and a great size to host 25+ for a party.. Great outdoor space.. Lots of use of the Hot Tub Great kitchen, fantastic beds.. Great furnishings... Almost small kids friendly. My 1yr old granddaughters scaled the stairs. Nice cozy snug lounge,.. Definitely would stay again. If few things was addressed. Overall a great property.

Fantastic house with plenty of room for everyone.. Kitchen/dining room is modern and spacious with the snug room being a particular favourite as it was comfy and cosy. Hot tub and sauna was a bonus as well as having the rest of the outdoor space. All around great house in a lovely little town that was easy reach to Chester and Rhyl. Would definitely come back

Superb location to the wonders of Ruthin which itself is splendid for a plethora of reasons. The House has been constructed and designed to the highest of standards. So we'll designed to encourage a large group to socialise and enjoy each other's company. Massive open downstairs space, with such great privacy of upstairs bedrooms. Hotub is a delight. Outdoor space plentiful. We will be back believe me.

January 2018
The property was lovely and clean with a modern feel, it suited 7 adults.. The only feedback would be to have a look at the internet coverage around the house, the best coverage was at the back door with none or very little in the living room. This was a minor issue and had no impact on our break, I would highly recommend this property for family or friends and its a credit to it's owners.
