A wonderful peaceful environment with only the cows mooing and the stream bubbling away to be heard.. A great area for visiting Wales and Shropshire.

We are regular users of uk holiday rentals.. Why do so many places fail to equip the kitchens with SHARP knives and a tin opener that works. We chose holiday homes as self catering is our wish, and therefore the aforementioned are essential.Everything else was perfect.A superb rural retreat, with a fab interior.5 star. Mike.

It can be a little cold in the winter, however the owners were very helpful in providing electric heaters - we just felt guilty using them so much.. The owners are lovely and we hope to revisit in the warmer weather as the surroundings are beautiful.

The Old Mill is a unique property if you are looking for something slightly out of the ordinary.. Seeing how the property was renovated around the mill equipment was a treat. There is a booklet at the property created by the owners detailing the renovation and we found it interesting to see how the property was turned into a holiday property from almost nothing. The property is across a yard from the owners. We heard no noise from the owners or anyone else - just some cows mooing occasionally. So this was great for us as we do like peace and quiet when we are away. We found the main bedroom bed comfortable - we slept well in it. The bathroom and shower both had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The kitchen was well-equipped with all of the cooking implements and utensils that we wanted. We were provided with items such as liquid hand soap, dishwasher tablets, tin foil and kitchen roll (which not all cottages provide!). The only thing that was disappointing was that the fridge was the smallest fridge we have experienced in a property. We found that it was big enough to contain two days' worth of food (for only two adults). So we had to plan to go to the supermarket every couple of days - otherwise all of the food might not have fit into it. The property was also clean and tidy. We stayed in the property in November and there were a couple of mornings and evenings when we found it quite cold. There is a log burner in the lounge and the owners provided two electric heaters and we did use all of these; however, the property did take a while to heat up and I'm not sure that I would describe it as the warmest place we've stayed. We had a small problem with the wifi, but Steve was ever so helpful. He had a lovely attitude and was responsive and positive - he genuinely seemed to care whether we were enjoying our stay - so thank you for that! Overall, it's a great property if you are looking for peace and quiet in an unusual building.

The mill is an interesting and comfortable cottage.. There is a heat pump system that provides hot water and heating from the nearby river.

We've never had a Sykes holiday property that has disappointed.. True to form The Old Mill was quirky but very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. It was well appointed. Attention had been given to every detail. Nice place!

Beautifully restored mill making a feature of the workings.. Comfortable and well equipped. Surrounded by fields with plenty of footpaths for walking, with or without dogs, although ther are sheep or cattle in many fields. The nearest towns, Welshpool and Montgomery, are both pleasant places to while away a few hours and Powys Castle is worth a visit. Unusually for te National Trust, it is open all year.

This is our 2nd visit to this property in the last 3 months.. It is a lovely property set in beautiful gardens. The hosts Caroline and Steve are lovely, friendly people who care a lot about this property. It is very clean, warm, comfortable and quiet. It is dog friendly which is very important to us. I'm sure we will be back there soon. Absolutely love it and highly recommend it.

The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard and is well insulated.. Although we didn't use it, it has an efficient heating system and a log burner, so would be suitable for a winter getaway.

I recently much enjoyed a week's self-catering with a dear friend at the most charming and wonderfully restored Old Mill Cottage at Marton, Nr Welshpool. Everything about this cottage, its delightful private garden and the general area was just perfect. All the "extra little touches here and there" were appreciated. What more can be said I wonder, it was just so good leaving both of us with exceptional memories of a great week. Thank you so much Caroline and Stephen for making us more than welcome!

We stayed at the Old Mill with our dog for a few days.. The building is beautiful and the gardens we had access to were a joy to walk in. The owners Caroline and Steve are the perfect hosts and very welcoming. The welcome pack was delicious. The building itself is comfortable, very clean, spacious and filled with everything needed. Being dog friendly was a must for us and our dog had lots of fun running in the gardens. Overall the holiday was just what we needed, peaceful and restful. We hope to visit again and I'm sure we will. This place is highly recommended.

We have been using Sykes Cottages for the past three years and have loved all the places that we have stayed in but this cottage was exceptional.. It gave us the wow factor the minute we stepped into the cottage. It was comfortable, cosy, clean and welcoming. The owners were friendly and left you to your own devices but when you saw them they were very friendly and had time to chat to you. There are walks on the doorstep and the small stream running at the side just made the holiday especially for our dog. We are definitely going to be rebooking this cottage again. Many thanks to Stephen and Caroline for making this such a wonderful break for us.

The location is listed as Stockton Mill, Stockton.. I checked the AA map for Stockton, Shropshire and the only one listed is between Telford and Bridgenorth, which was perfect. Unfortunately when I received the address and postcode it was Stockton Mill, Marton, which was a totally different location. Apart from that the Mill was beautiful, in a lovely location, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend it and hope we can return soon.
