Third visit and not our last! Ticks all the boxes for cleanliness, comfort and thoughtful touches. A beautiful house with spacious, but cosy rooms and in a superb area. Well-placed for visiting Clitheroe, Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales generally. Wonderful personal service provided by Elaine making sure the house is ready for the guests.

The most interesting house, full of articles and pictures to look at and the books! !! We found lots to do in the area and lots of cafes to treat our grandaughters especially Bashall Barn. The house has all the equipment you need only wish we had time to use it all.t Thank you to Elaine for a super welcome pack and to the family for allowing us to share a wonderful house. We hope to return. Three generations of the Nash family.

A fabulous property for a relaxing break.. Amazing history surrounding the house and area. Cleanest most organised house we have ever rented. Red Pump Inn minutes walk away great for food as is Bashall Barn (walkable approx 40mins) but lots of parking if decide to take car. We had a brilliant time welcoming in the New Year in front of roaring fire in the drawing room. Elaine is very helpful and knowledgeable of the area.

We booked the old forge for my husband to be along with his mum to stay in the night before our wedding and the Saturday night following (3 nights total) when myself, my mum and maid of honour joined them. Oh my goodness, what a treat! Absolutely beautiful, from the massive kitchen, to the plush beds, the cosy lounge with log burner to the abundance of history surrounding us, it was not only an escape but unexpected delight and pleasure. Huge thank you to Fiona and Elaine for a wonderful trip, we cannot wait to return. P.S. the surprise goodies were a massive hit thank you xx

The Old Forge is a superb property - we have never stayed in such a welcoming, comfortable, amazing house - the history you can browse through is incredible. We felt extremely privileged to spend time there and will be visiting again, and again, and again!

This is such a welcoming house in a lovely unspoilt location. It has every amenity anyone could want, and really unusual to find so much of the family history to add to the general interest. There is walking from the door, and a huge choice without having to drive too far- allowing us to explore an area previously unknown to us. We have never before experienced such generous welcome baskets and flowers, and our thanks to Elaine for the spotlessly clean accommodation. Very highly recommended!

Wonderful welcome and lovely cottage one of the nicest places I’ve stayed in. Loved the area and enjoyed walking in every direction. Lots to see and do locally with a nice pub very close by. Elaine who looks after the cottage was very kind and very helpful. Me and my two friends who met at college in the 1970’s had a lovely catchup and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A fabulous house in a stunning location.. The house is just amazing; one of my party called it the National Trust house. It was spacious, finished to a high standard and not lacking in the day to day essentials. The welcome baskets were generously filled with locals goods. We were sorrry we were not staying longer and it was rather sad to have to say goodbye.

There is Japanese Knotweed in the garden that needs to be eradicated asap! The house is delightful and perfectly positioned for exploration of the area. Very good facilities and Elaine is both local and helpful. All in all a perfect "cottage" (? It's a beautiful house!)

We stayed for a long weekend in this stunning cottage, extremely comfortable and with plenty to offer in the local neighbourhood. We went for walks, had some delicious meals in local pubs and enjoyed the beautiful landscape. The house has been recently redecorated throughout I can not recommend it highly enough for a relaxing break.

The Old Forge surpasses all expectations.. The fusion of antiques, history and luxurious modern facilities is perfect. The owners personal descriptions of the history of the family, the house and the art within gives the visitor a relaxed feeling of being included. A beautiful family house, it was perfect for three generations meeting for a wedding held locally. The kitchen had everything a large group require for food preparation and dining. All instructions and descriptions are simple and relative to a visitors requirements. Elaine was most helpful and all instructions prior to arrival were both friendly and timely. It is a privilege to be allowed to share the experience in such a beautiful house and we are bound to return. In a world where photographs usually flatter to deceive, those of the Old Forge in some respects do not reflect the essence of this beautiful property.

Absolutely superb property.. Housekeeper was extremely helpful. It was like a home from home. I was also able to absorb the history of the place and surrounding estate whilst away working. Just a shame that I couldn't enjoy the facilities during the day whilst I was working. I will be back for a vacation as thought the property and history was stunning.

Stunning cottage in a beautiful location. A lot of effort has been put into this cottage to make it as welcoming as possible. The local host went out of her way to assist us and this was much appreciated. The bed was also one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in!

We had a lovely stay in The Old Forge over Christmas.. It is an amazing house with so much character and history combined with a truly high standard of comforts and amenities. Quite honestly we wished we could have stayed much longer and we could not recommend it highly enough to do it justice. Elaine who takes care of the house is so helpful and the standard of cleanliness is of the highest we have seen in any self catering property we have stayed in. There was a lovely welcome basket to start us off and the house was extremely well presented.

We were looking for somewhere to stay in this area as we had heard good things about the Forest of Bowland. For seven of us this was a great choice and everything that we could have wanted. The house is really interesting, comfortable and a good size and it was spotless and really welcoming on arrival, with the fire set ready to be lit and a basket of goodies that we really appreciated. We thought that this was an ideal base with a great pub just down the road that we walked to a couple of nights and many others within a short drive. The area is great for walking (we went up Pendle Hill, did a local walk from the cottage and the Tolkein Trail) and we had an amazing drive across the Trough of Bowland on a frosty morning to Lancaster. I enjoyed the great views from the cottage itself with Pheasants, Grouse and Hares darting around in the fields outside. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

We were so impressed with the Old Forge. The building is very traditional, and done up to a modern standard so the best of both worlds. Outside the garden is lovely, with an outside dining area which was great for the weather we had. If you don't get the good weather, the house has such a lovely comfy feel. You could sit infront of one of the fires playing board games, or investigating the interesting book collection and intriguing ornaments. The kitchen also has everything you can need, so it makes it simple to cook in. I'd definitely go back again.

We had an absolutely fantastic, relaxing weekend stay here. The house and gardens are immaculate and full of interesting history and quirky features. The house was spotless and had everything we needed to relax and unwind. The views are breathtaking and there are plenty of beautiful walks nearby. The house is in a fantastic location, Booth's the local supermarket was packed with fantastic local produce and even had a band of elderly gents playing music inside when we went. The local pub served great grub and had a great selection of local ales & produce too. I am struggling to think of a negative about this house, I guess the only one is it doesn't belong to me!!!

The Old Forge is the perfect country retreat and a sight for sore, city eyes! Nestled in amongst green fields and rural winding roads, this house delivered on all counts. Tasteful decor, oodles of comfortable sofas and kingsize beds and a well appointed kitchen with a yummy welcome basket of thoughtful essentials. I can feel by blood pressure lowering, just by thinking about this place...and relax!

Our family had a very relaxing week in this beautiful home. Its a great location for exploring nearby attractions, we even made it to Blackpool to experience the Pleasure Beach. The house has been decorated to a high standard, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, we had a bathroom each(!), its a real home from home. We were very sad to leave.

The house is great - 3 good sized rooms, great kitchen diner and wonderful views out over the fields front and back. Stayed with friends and family - 4 adults and a 2 1/2 year old. We all enjoyed our stay very much. The Red Pump Inn is very close and easy for a well earned pint or some food after a walk.
