Everything was perfect and as described. Spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Lots of generous space considering how small it is.

Great stay in Whitby, I can reccommend Sykes and the Old Blacksmiths Workshop cottage.. Its in a great location, really close to everything Whitby has to offer. The parking space is quite small but fine unless you have a big car. The owner was most helpful and kindly text me to let me know the cottage was ready for us before 4pm , so when we arrived we were able to go straight to the cottage which was nice and warm and a box of chocolates waiting for us. As we went early March, the weather was cold but the cottage was always warm with plenty of hot water for showers and baths. I can definantly reccommend this property to anyone who wants a great stay in Whitby.

Lovely accomodation, ideally located.. Bathroom and kitchen really nice and well laid out. Made for a great family holiday break. Maybe worth considering the size of your vehicle though for the parking space, we struggled with a Focus (but that maybe my parking!). Overall though I wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.

Sometimes the actual accommodation does not match the description, but that wasn't the case with the Old Blacksmith Workshop.. The facilities were excellent as was the location. The parking space was an added bonus. When I visit Whitby again will definitely book this accommodation again. The whole booking process was easy, ( I would recommend downloading the app), and the owner was very helpful.

Right in the centre of Whitby, a real home from home. Lovely and cosy, everything you could want and need. The beds are comfy with great bedding. Would not hesitate to book again, we loved it. The Wi-fi and a parking space in Whitby that is included is a bonus. We only stayed 2 nights, but if you were here longer there was a washer and dishwasher. Highly recommended.

November 2018
The host was very friendly and even allowed us to access the cottage early.. It is a beautiful place and the location is amazing. Everything was clean and decor is exceptional. The only fault if it can be one is the time we had to vacate. 10am is very early on a weekend as we had to be up at 8.30 so all 4 of us could get showered and dressed.

October 2018
We thought this accommodation was extremely clean and well equipped.. It's in a fantastic location and bonus to have a parking space as well. We would definitely recommend it and plan to return next year as had a fantastic time. My 5 year old daughter was disappointed to leave as loved 'her bedroom'. The owner was also extremely friendly and helpful. The only thing I would say is sykes send emails before hand to advise you to contact owner about a week before to arrange key pick up, where as the owner likes to ring you a day or so before as actually has code to give you as well and assume doesn't like to give out too far in advance. Completely understandable so think Sykes need to update what they send outta customers.
Ms Ward
October 2018
Sykes failed to send the information explaining where to find the Key safe and the instructions relating to the parking space.. This resulted in us having to contact the owner on arrival. The accommodation was comfortable and clean, our only complaint about the property was that shower water temperature would run hot then cold which was a pain.
Mr Monro
September 2018
We had have only two suggestions.. The pillows were most unconfortable we wished we had brought our own. But that did not spoil our stay in any way. The second is due to the steepness of the path outside, my mother had great difficulty in walking to the car. If possible, a handrail on the wall will be helpful. That's all. No dramas. Very clean and relaxing accommodation. Great communication between yourselves and us. I am happy to stay there again. I have already passed on your companies details to friends for their holidays. Thank you.

This is the second time we've been to this cottage.. It's great because of its central location to everywhere and with so much to do to keep you entertained. More than likely will be back at some point in the future.

March 2018
The cottage was clean, warm and had everything we needed.. It was furnished to a high standard, modern and comfortable. Arranging early entry on the Saturday was a bonus.
Miss Hamilton
February 2018
The cottage was immaculately clean.. It was modern, comfortable and inviting. Definitely the best holiday accomodation we've ever stayed in and the best power shower ever! It was also close to the town and harbour but a quiet location. The only minor criticism I would suggest is it could have done with another lock or bolt on the front door to make it feel more secure.
Mrs Birchall
December 2017
Had a great few days.. The location of the property was brill close to the centre of Whitby. We loved having a look round the town and the 199 steps didn't defeat us, robin hood bay was a lovely day out even though it was raining and not many places open due to the time of year but would definitely consider going back in summer. We also did the ghost walk which I would highly recommend, very good. Overall lovely place and people.

November 2017
A beautiful property, clean, stylish & well equipped kitchen. Spend a warm cosy quiet week with my husband. Property ideally situated in the middle of town less than 5 minutes walk to the harbour & shops. Car parking space a great bonus as long as you have a small car. I have a Clio that just fit in the space. We couldn't have asked for anything finer as every comfort had been thought of. One down side was having to leave the property at 9.30 on the day of departure. But other than that a great find.
Mrs Hurst
November 2017
This is a lovely property, very well furnished and maintained.. It is right in the centre of Whitby, close to all amenities, but still remains quiet and relaxing. Although parking is not just outside, it is very close.

August 2016
Lovely clean and well equipped cottage. The slope was steep but no problem for myself or my daughter. There was a damp smell in the back bedroom, but then it's a very old building. Very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Wifi would have been great, but we found reception when out and about.

Cottage was spotlessly clean, well furnished and had everything you could possibly need. It's centrally located and a good size. We really enjoyed our stay and would only say it could do with wifi.

September 2015
My family and i are curently enjoying our week in Whitby staying in this lovely cottage having booked direct with the owner. There are 3 adults and a baby stayingnand we have taken the offer of the travel cot and highchair. Cottage is all on 1 level and is finished to a high modern standard with original features. We have stayed in several holiday cottages in the paddock over the years as its the best location to both whitby harbour & shops as well as to west cliff etc. We would not stay in another location now. ONLY crisitism is having NO WIFI...this really should come as standard in today's technology era."Steep"hill you use to access apartment from parking space isnt as bad as people make out and my mum who has arthritus managed it without a problem.

A beautifully decorated/furnished cottage, there were lots of thoughtful touches throughout. A perfect location. Will be returning in the future!

May 2015
The cottage is close to the Quay and shops. The downside is the very steep road to reach it, which you have to do by foot as there is no parking outside the cottage. The alternative route to reach the cottage is a series of steep steps. This is not mentioned on the website unfortunately. The cottage is modern in design but lacks enough crockery for 4 people. Also oven trays are in poor condition and no casseroles dishes. Such a pity as it's something that could easily be put right at little cost. As nobody else has mentioned this problem I can only presume that past guests have eaten out and not prepared their own meals. Be aware that Internet and mobile phone signals are poor in this area. We had our grandson with us for a study break from University and he had to cut his break short as he was unable to study at the cottage. I understand this is a problem in all areas of Whitby and not particularly with this cottage. I feel this cottage is only suitable for a maximum of 3 people as the second bed is just 4 foot wide, and the room very small.
Mr Budd
April 2015
We had a lovely week in the house, everything was exactly as advertised. We settled in instantly and found all the kitchen equipment, shower, TV etc very easy to use.

December 2014
Characterful, spacious cottage with all amenities and modernised to a good standard. Has advantage of nearby parking space, although it is quite hazardous taking suitcases etc. from car to cottage due to extreme slope outside. Close to shops, restaurants, railway station and harbour. Main bedroom needs attention due to unpleasant damp, musty smell. Everything else, perfect!
Miss Bannister
November 2014
A lovely, light, open plan holiday let which is well looked after. Very relaxing. Loved the box of chocolates on arrival. Good instruction booklet on everything in the apartment - cooker to dishwasher.

September 2014
A fantastic location, only 2 minutes from the town centre. It was great that there's a parking space too, especially given the location. The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing break and the bedrooms were very comfortable.

The Old Blacksmith's Workshop is a lovely property in Whitby and ideally located as a base to explore the surrounding beauty of the North York Moors Cleveland Hills.

May 2014
Cottage in a central location, a real home from home. It was in a quiet area near to a bus and train station, Whitby seafront and Abbey, also easy to get to Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough. The cottage has everything you could need and the beds are really comfortable. Will definitely be going back to The Old Blacksmiths Workshop. Couldn't fault anything.

Found this cottage on line and received great personal service from the owner. Cara helped me plan a surprise birthday trip for my son The cottage was delightful, well maintained, beautifully decorated and close to all the Whitby has to offer. Would recommend and would use again Thank you

January 2014
The central location of this cottage with the bonus of a parking space provides maximum convenience in which to explore all of Whitby's many attractions. Literally there are many great pubs and restaurants just a few metres away. We had a great time. Access to the cottage was easy, and the cottage was warm and cosy and furnished to high standard throughout.

My family and I had a lovely time in whitby in febuary 2013. The oldblacksmith. Workshop we could not fault , it was very clean and big enough for the four of us the only let down was the parking we couldn't park in front of the accomandation to off load but we did manage. I would return to the cottage and recomend it to my friends and family.

Whitby is a great place for a short break. Property was finished to a high standard, comfortable and well situated in the town.

September 2012
We booked well ahead using reviews and photos etc to decide. It was very difficult to find and we had to get a detailed msap from the tourist information in town. Once found the parking is very tight DO NOT take a large car as you will not fit in ! The Blacksmith's is very well laid out and very with everything you need for a short stay. The beds are comfortable enough with good, clean linen. Plenty of storage. The shower / bath is excellent. The lounge / kitchen area has it all... electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle etc and all the instructions are provided and are easy to understand. It was a black spot for internet with the service very weak and very unreliable. Phone service was also very unreliable. I had a Vodafone card. There should also be a second house key provided in case you or your other family members arrive home at different times. I mentioned this to the owner and she did make note of it. The location is great with it being only a 2 minute downhill walk to the harbour front. It is up hill back home, but where in Whitby don'y you have hills? All in all a very pleasant stay and we would thoroughly recommend the Old Blacksmith's to anyone considering a stay in lovely Whitby
Mrs Crofts
August 2012

Brilliant location - the cottage is a five minute walk from everything beautiful Whitby has to offer. The cottage was perfect for our weekend break but I would gladly spend a full week there as everything had been thought of - even the vinegar in the cupboard for the obligatory fish and chips!

Well equipped and maintained holiday cottage in one of my favourite towns. High spec, clean and comfortable. Some noise from upstairs on one evening but nothing too bad. Only slight quibble would be the TV which seems to be suffer in comparison to the rest of the cottage.
