The Nook description

Holiday home
The Nook is a lovely, link-attached cottage in a charming cul-de-sac on the outskirts of Bowness-on-Windermere. The cottage is set mostly on the ground floor, with a king-size double bedroom with an en-suite the only room upstairs. Downstairs, there are two further bedrooms, a king-size double and a room with zip/link bed, providing the option of being made up as a king-size double or twin beds. There is a kitchen and a sitting room with a dining area and double doors leading into the courtyard, where you can sit and enjoy breakfast in the summer. From the courtyard, a flight of steps lead up to a decked garden with beautiful views, more outdoor furniture and a barbecue. There is also off road parking for up to five cars. With lots to see and do nearby, and many activities to enjoy in a small drive, The Nook is a wonderful holiday base for both friends and families.

With a charter granted in 1262, the traditional Cumbrian market town of Wigton still holds a market each Tuesday in the covered market hall. This lovely town is a popular centre for shopping, pubs and restaurants, as well as for other activities such as theatre, bowls, swimming, tennis and other sports. The Lord Melvyn Bragg novel, 'A Time to Dance', featured the town of Thurston, which was based on Wigton and the local area. A lovely base for a holiday exploring Cumbria and the Scottish Borders.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Gas central heating with woodburning stove. Electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, WiFi. Fuel, power and starter pack for stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot and highchair. Off road parking for 5 cars. Elevated garden with decking and garden furniture. Courtyard with furniture. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 1 mile, pub 10 mins walk. Note: One step to front and back door. Note: 12 steps up to decking in garden, though courtyard is at ground level.

Lovely house in great location.. Layout of house suited us perfectly. Brother and sister-in-law with children stayed downstairs and we had the upstairs with our baby so didn't disturb them. Had all amenities needed and was even lucky enough with the weather to be able to enjoy the BBQ.

The cottage was excellent and great location, everything that you’d expect was provided, even down to providing the logs and kindling for the first night!

We had a lovely holiday in this cottage - the layout worked perfectly for 3 generations of the same family sharing the cottage.. The location was very good as it was only a 10 minute walk into Bowness with lots of nice restaurants/bars/shops. The town was quite trendy and not fuddy duddy which was nice for the teenagers and my 4yr old loved the world of Beatrix potter which was only a 15 minute walk away. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and the boat trip on lake Windermere is worth doing. The facilities in the cottage were good although we didn’t seem to have much hot water for showers but we managed. The cottage is on a fairly steep hill so probably not ideal for people with pushchairs. I will definitely be staying here again!

This is the second time we have stayed at the Nook and we enjoyed it as much this time as the previous one.. The house is lovely and is in a great location, nice and close to Bowness and Windermere but far enough away not to be noisy or busy. The only suggestion that I have is that I think a tumble dryer would be an advantage as washing and drying towels would be a lot easier. I would recommend the Nook as a great place to stay.

The cottage was perfect for the 4 of us.. Ideal location, a short walk to Bowness and the lake so great in an evening to get a meal/drink. We’ve booked with Sykes before and will be looking to book for 2019 very soon

We had a lovely holiday.. The Nook was a great place to stay, close to the centre of Bowness on Windermere. The house was very clean and comfortable, and having everything that you could need. The only exception to this was the garden, the furniture had not been tidied up nor the table cleaned.

We have had a lovely week at The Nook.. As already mentioned in other reviews, its location is perfect being minutes from Bowness and all its facilities and yet very quiet and peaceful. Everything we needed was provided and even the sun shone for us! A tip for people of a certain age, take your bus pass. We used ours everywhere even on the Goat bus visiting Beatrix Potter’s house. In fact we only used our car once during the whole week. Thoroughly recommended. Thank you!

My Sisters and Brother-in-Laws had a fantastic time in the Lakes (6 of us in total).. The cottage was gorgeous and we would definitely like to come again in the future. The weather was perfect, did lots of walking and Bowness was only down the road form the cottage - perfect for eating out. The cottage garden was in full bloom and the colours were great, what a view to have outside your bedroom window. We loved our time there and would definitely recommend the cottage to family & friends.

Overhaul a excellent holiday.. The nook was a fabulous place with every thing you needed. It was spotlessly clean and in an ideal location. Ground floor bedroom for my disabled wife. It could have done with a grab rail in bath. Would I go with Sykes again most definitely.

We stayed here in February, its a fantastic with everything you might need for your stay. There were 6 of us, my daughter, husband and 2 children and my husband and i. What was really nice was that we stayed upstairs with our own bathroom which was really private from the rest of the house. Lovely sized lounge with nice big dinning table. It was Absolutely perfect for us. Theres plenty of parking. It was only about a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Bowness where you can get to everything, theres plenty of places to eat and get in provisions when you need them. It was really cold when we stayed here we had rain and snow and wind but the cottage was lovely and warm. Really nice and would definitely stay again.

Very nice place and Sykes were a great help.. Only thing i would say is could and done with some soap/handwash in the bathrooms and some extra toilet paper as quite low. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would go again.

The bathrooms were a little bit disappointing and would be the only thing that precludes a 100% rating

Overall, excellent cottage within walking distance from town. We felt like it was a home away from home. Instructions were clear and laid out beautifully for all cottage equipment. Cottage is spacious and actually looks better on arrival than in the pictures, which is a first!

The cottage had everything we needed and the cleanliness met our standards. The property is conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle of town but close enough to walk or drive into town. We really had everything we needed and the rooms and living areas are spacious and comfortable.
