Beautiful, quiet rural location, bang on the St Patrick Highway and looking out over Strangford Lough on one side and horse feilds on the other. Near a picnic area which allows you to get down to the water's edge and explore. It's also very close to Greyabbey and Mt Stewart and an easy drive to other attractions like portaferry, Castle Ward, Downpatrick and Scrabo Tower. Newtownards with supermarkets and some good cafes is very close, and it's not too much futher to Bangor which has an awesome (kids-friendly) museum. This is a good base to chill and read books, but also to explore the Ards Peninsular and wider County Down.
The house is large and comfortable with a fantastic kitchen, nice fireplace, 2 lounges (we took the fireplace and gave the TV room to the kids), comfy beds and good heating. A very large garden which the kids enjoyed exploring.
We came from NZ as a family of 5 and had a great time, would recommend it. At the end of a long driveway that comes off next to about 146.
