The Hayloft is an amazing beautiful place.. We were met by Peter who showed us to The Hayloft, when we walked in we were amazed at how lovely the place was. This is a barn conversion which has been done to the highest standards, the equipment in the Hayloft are all high quality and there is everything you require, right down to things like dog leads and towels for your dogs. There is lovely log burner to sit next to on cooler nights. The views from almost every window over the lovely Dartmoor countryside are outstanding,on the only day we had rain, just for a few hours,we spent the time just looking out the windows, great, who needs to watch television when you can just look at beauty out of your window?Astrid the owner was lovely, she has gone to the trouble of making a list of walks in the area, one for each day,she is very informative about the area and is very approachable for places to visit etc. We traveled with two dogs and they absolutely loved it,either in the garden or the many woodland walks from the property up onto the moors or down to the rivers all beautiful. This is by far the best holiday cottage we have ever stopped at and hope to return soon. My only regret is I hadn’t found this place twenty years ago when I was young enough to do more of the splendid walks in the area. If ever a property deserves more than 5 stars, then this is it. Loved it

Astrid and Peter are an extremely warm and welcoming couple and we were all (humans and dog) made to feel at ease from the moment we arrived.. There was no mention of 'no dogs in any particular rooms' one of my 'pet hates'! and Astrid showed me around the house without fuss and said if there were any problems to let them know. The barn was warm and so cosy and the Dartmoor walks are always a treat for us. The daily wheelbarrows of logs were another joy, thank you both, as having the stove running all day supplied another level of warmth and ambiance. We look forward to seeing you again soon

The Hayloft is lovely.. Plenty of room, and light and airy. It is in an ideal spot, close to many of the well-known sights of Dartmoor, plus there are some lovely walks to take from the grounds, without having to use the car. Astrid and Peter are very friendly and helpful. It was a perfect week, we had a wonderful time. Thank you!

The location of the property was perfect for us.. Tucked away behind the owners home it was peaceful and private. There was easy access to Dartmoor and surrounding towns and villages. Lovely local walks for dogs and humans. Decor, furnishings, crockery, cutlery and linen all very nice. Spotlessly clean, beautiful en suites to all bedrooms. Wonderful warm welcome by the owners and their children.

Family of 4 (2 boys 13 & 15). We arrived to a warm & friendly welcome from Astrid who introduced us to our accommodation and was only too happy to explain everything in detail. Fresh eggs from the resident chickens and freshly cut daffodils were a nice little extra. An extremely spacious open plan living area that suited us perfectly which made for a relaxing living space. Having an en-suite to all bedrooms was a great boon, especially with 2 teenagers. For those of you who like a real fire the wood burner is just the ticket to get the room nice and cosy. My youngest particularly enjoyed feeding the horses in the adjacent field the odd carrot & apple and making acquaintance with the sheep. This really is a peaceful location which is great for anyone wanting to get away from it all. For those wanting to explore there are plenty a walks to go on. Our boys particularly enjoyed a soggy walk to Becky Falls through the woods, making our way from the bottom up to the Cafe for a well-earned piece of cake & coffee. Following Astrid's recommendation we drove out to Grimspound and walked back to the Hayloft taking in some beautiful views of Dartmoor (very kindly driving me back to pick up the car afterwards). Although on the edge of Dartmoor, Newton Abbot is only 20-25 mins or so away and most other urban areas are easily accessed. All in all this was a fabulous relaxing week and Astrid makes a wonderful host; the boy's definitely want to come back.

The Hayloft is perfect, a lovely, peaceful location, a stylish but comfortable home from home (it does not feel remotely like a holiday let) with everything so thoughtfully & kindly provided by Astrid and Peter.. We could not have wished or asked for more. It was hard to tear ourselves away and head for home but we were of one mind, we would all love to return! A big thank you.

This was our second visit to The Hayloft in 2 years. The accommodation is spectacular. High quality throughout with ample space and equipment for six adults. Each bedroom with an en suite is a real bonus. The situation is perfect for walking, cycling, sightseeing throughout Dartmoor. The owners are delightful and make you so welcome. They do all they can to make your stay relaxing and carefree.

We recently stayed in The Lofthouse and were mesmerised by the property and surrounding countryside. We were lucky enough to see the small baby lambs. Fantastic walks and amazing pubs that serve up great food. We will be returning as we never had enough time to explore all of the surrounding area.
