The Flat is a superb three-storey apartment located in the heart of Barnard Castle, Teesdale. With accommodation across three floors, including a first floor king-size bedroom and a twin with en-suite, a second floor shower room, along with a first floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area, the property can sleep four people. On the ground floor is the property's access along with a utility room, while outside you'll find off road parking for one car, with a permit provided (£1 fee when first arrive and permit for rest of stay). Set in the heart of this historic market town, The Flat offers couples an array of attractions and amenities on the doorstep.

The market town of Barnard Castle is situated in the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale in County Durham. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep with The Pennine and Teesdale Ways, and the River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force are all within easy reach.

Really good property (this is our second stay there).. Town centre location is great and there are many walks from the door, plus shops, restaurants, pubs, takeaways, etc. Everything very comfortable and clean, we felt very happy with all the extra cleaning for COVID. Despite many brilliant stays in cottages / self catering properties this is the first time I have felt the need to post. The flat is situated in an ideal location for lovers of life in a country town - very close to the historic Butter Market. The owners have provided a holiday home from home which provides all the modern conveniences without losing the Georgian character of the building. The place is spacious with a luxurious feel. The kitchen has a dishwasher and is particularly well equipped. Before the holiday options were given so that the welcome pack provided was tailored to suit individual likes. The flat wonderfully decorated for Christmas as was Barnard Castle. The town is a gem and if you like the outdoors, art or history there is alot to do locally. We will definately return.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Flat in Barnard Castle.. The flat was in a great location with all the shops, pubs and restaurants within a very short walk. Parking in the public car park behind the property was fine and we never had any problems getting a space. Everything we needed was provided (including a welcome hamper) and the flat was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and had been fitted out really well. Barnard Castle is a lovely town too with lots of historic buildings, local walks and longer walks nearby. And don't forget the Bowes Museum which is fascinating. We had a couple of favourite places to eat out - The Three Horseshoes pub and Spice Island Indian Restaurant - both very good food and service. Thanks for a great stay and I'm sure we'll be returning.

Everything was perfect! We enjoyed being right in town for walks and visiting the Bowes Museum. The owners were kind to leave a hamper for us to begin our stay. “The Flat” was immaculately clean and lovely to return to at the end of the day. Superb flat with everything you could want including a welcome pack.. It was so good to leave the car because restaurants etc were walking distance and we used the buses for everything apart from Beamish. I would recommend going via Darlington for Durham and Richmond was lovely.

We had a lovely 5 nights at the flat.. The owners provided a lovely welcome pack. The flat was very clean and lovely bed linen, towels and bath robes were very welcome. It felt very home from home. Lovely country side to explore and beautiful village. The flat is located in a fabulous market town with everything on the doorstep. We would recommend the flat to anyone.

The accommodation was excellent.. Bowes Museum was literally around the corner within walking distance. We had a lovely Sunday roast dinner in The Old Well Inn 2mins away. There are a number of quirky pubs etc. We would love to return, but bring our little dog next time so we would have to book somewhere else unfortunately. Would definitely recommend The Flat, the owners were very informative and the welcome hamper was a nice touch too! 10/10

The flat is absolutely excellent.. A bit misleading about 3 floors, one floor has just a shower room and another just the entrance with all main rooms being on one floor. Whoever does the laundry needs to be rewarded as the bedding was absolutely cleaner than clean. Very impressed. Everything you could want is provided in this property and owners go the extra mile to provide a welcome pack of milk bread tea bags coffee butter and jams, absolutely brilliant and really appreciated. Unfortunately during my stay, mid week someone moved into flat above and had tv and music on loud and an annoying barking dog. Our plans for lazy mornings were spoilt by workmen arriving at 8.15 working on path outside. Both of these things not the fault of the flat but unfortunately spoilt our stay. That said the flat is marvellous, clean and well equipped and superb location.

Can't fault a thing about this lovely two bedroomed flat. One twin room with en suite and one double with separate shower room. Gorgeous well laid out rooms, smart kitchen and huge lounge room with full dining table. Lots of great touches like DVDs and games supplied. Superb location with the car park just behind and the high street on the doorstep so everything within very easy walking distance. Would definitely recommend it and stay here again.

The Flat is a lovely property, right in the heart of the market town.. On arrival we found the property to be spotlessly clean and a small welcome hamper had been provided, milk, butter, bread, jam, tea and coffee. The property was well furnished and extremely tidy, it looked like it had just been furnished and decorated. The location was excellent we walked directly from Barnard Castle, we hardly used our car. In the town we ate out every evening, the choice of restaurants and pubs serving food were fantastic and every meal we had was excellent. The owner had provided us with a paid parking ticket for the week, for the public car park at the rear of the property, we found this to be perfectly fine and when we did use the car we were able to park without any problem. On arrival and departure we parked directly outside the door in the market place. We had a really lovely holiday and would definitely consider re-booking.

The flat is very comfortable and central for the town. Although it is an old building the décor is modern and in excellent condition. The parking arrangements were good and on arrival and departure we were able to park on the cobbled area at the front which made it easy to unload and load the vehicle. During other times we were always able to get a place on the park at the rear. The town itself is well blessed with eating places to differing standards and we were not disappointed in any. We thought Valentines was excellent. In all a good holiday.

My husband and myself booked this flat for a week in March and I have to say it's an absolutely stunning property. Brilliant position in the centre of town but nice and quiet as well. So glad I stumbled upon this lovely place when looking for a last minute break. From the generous welcome hamper to the free wifi and well-equipped kitchen, this is the perfect place for a relaxing break. Beautifully refurbished and absolutely spotless, I really can't fault it. It's a carefully considered mix of original features and modern living that really works. Being above a shop on the main street in the town, you're right next to all the amenities, including shops and eateries (and, of course, the castle). Absolutely brilliant and highly recommended. We're sure to be back.
