My family had a wonderful holiday in The Farm House.. The kids loved the freedom and adventure on the farm and learned loads. Watching a calf being born was a highlight, as was bottle feeding some orphan lambs. The grounds are wonderful and lead to some fabulous walks, including down to Lydford Gorge which was well worth the £25 family ticket. The owners are lovely and always seemed happy to answer al the questions that the kids (and us adults) had to ask.

As a retired GM of a Country House Hotel, my expectations are very high.. I couldn't fault anything at all. The attention to detail always makes for a wonderful stay, tea and brownies set out for our arrival, fresh flowers around the farmhouse and a basket of fresh eggs given to us on our first morning - there were delicious!!!

This was a fantastic holiday from start to finish and was thoroughly enjoyed by adults and children alike.. Great facilities and staff really helpful and kind. Outdoor pool, tennis court and games room particularly enjoyed and I’d definitely recommend to families whatever the age of children. Endless activities, walking and other attractions nearby. One week not long enough for us! Only issue was sat nav taking us to another farm with difficult road so would call once in area to clarify directions. A wonderful place.

We booked our holiday before we got a puppy, Michelle from HH was kind enough to call our hosts if the puppy was indeed welcome to the Farmhouse.. We had a lovely week at the Farmhouse, you can walk right up to the Moors or plan a visit to the coast. We visited the Bedruthan steps, very beautifull!!

The property is located at the heart of a working farm and views from all its windows are onto a large cattle-shed, where you can watch the cattle being fed.. The farmhouse is spacious and well-equipped and comfortably furnished in a traditional style. A winning feature is the enormous open fireplace in the dining room, in which a fire had been made up before our arrival. Additional logs are available for purchase. The dining room is dark and cosy and a good place to hunker down when Dartmoor's notorious rain or fog sets in. The light-filled conservatory is a wonderful place to have breakfast and is stocked with huge numbers of board games. The small gym in a converted barn opposite the house has a few good-quality machines, there is also an indoor games room which we didn't use. It is possible to walk from the farm direct (through a few fields and over a few stiles) onto the moor - on Tim's recommendation we walked via Gibbets Hill and Wheal Betsy to the excellent Elephant's Nest pub at Horndon and back via Mary Tavy. There is plenty to do and see in the vicinity: the charming village of Lydford with the famous Lydford Gorge walk practically within walking distance from the farm, the elegant UNESCO-listed market town of Tavistock about 20 minutes' drive away, large National Trust properties with extensive grounds at Cotehele and Buckland Abbey, and the scenic Tamar Valley Railway offering a picturesque alternative way of travelling into the great port city of Plymouth from the railhead at Gunnislake. A short drive takes you to the many attractive sites on the moor: the stone rows and circles at Merrivale were particularly atmostpheric on a damp and windy Dartmoor day. Overall a very enjoyable visit!

We had the most fantastic holiday at the Farmhouse from start to finish. We stayed with another family and the children placed themselves firmly in the games room at every opportunity!, which gave the adults time to get sorted out. The house was lovely and clean & fully kitted out with everything you could wish for ( even hairdryer and straighteners!!). We loved the rural & cosy feel of the property and all enjoyed sitting around the large table in the evening playing board games. The heated swimming pool was of course the favourite place for the children but so nice that it was slightly away from the house so no sneaking out without the adults! Location wise perfect for us, (we organised an online shop to arrive the evening of our arrival which was great as no jumping in cars for bits and bobs), situated midway between north and south coasts, so many choices for great days out from horse riding on the moors in Mary Tavy to surfing in Newquay and of course exploring the surrounding countryside. I have no hesitation in recommending the Farmhouse... it was, to coin my sons phrase ' the best holiday ever!!'

Beautiful farmhouse with log fire, slate floors and a lovely large dining area with exposed beams. Our children loved the freedom that being on a farm gave and really enjoyed the games room and swimming pool. The farmer and his wife were tremendously helpful and offered advice on where to go and what to see. A short drive to Lydford Gorge, a walk in the Moors, or pony trekking at Mary Tavy. Bude Beach and Dawlish Beach about an hours drive. A couple of pubs also a short drive away. No local shops and no wifi! - Loved a week without the internet though:)

For a quiet family holiday it is definitely 10/10. The farmhouse is fantastic, so roomy and well set out, lovely family breakfasts at the table and dinners too! I love this area, have been coming back since I was a child, then returned with my sons for holidays and this year we were joined by my grandson. Lydford is a family favourite, wonderful meals at the Castle Inn, memories of Lydford Castle, more family photos, and a wonderful cherry cake from the Church. The younger members went to the Gorge and we all went to Dartmeet Adventure Park, more to do every year. We also went to Dingle Fairground, very good fun, full of memories and a great place for lunch. Back at the farm the swimming pool was great, the games room and gym used every day and the tennis courts were great and well used. Lovely to see all the farm animals, chickens in the garden and sheep running past the farmhouse, lovely. Back to reality now but I am sure we will go back. :-)
