The Blue Door description

Holiday home
The Blue Door is a modern 3-storey townhouse in the city of Chester, sleeps six people in three bedrooms. Set over three floors, this lovely house has been finished in a contemporary style to provide a modern kitchen with dining area, a stylish living room, three double bedrooms bedrooms, two of which offer king-size beds and one also benefits from en-suite facilities, as well as a family bathroom. Outside, there is a small enclosed garden with furniture and of road parking for one car with two additional free spaces 500 yards away. The Blue Door is a great base for exploring this delightful city.

Described by some as the 'the jewel of the North-West of England', Chester is a city with plenty to offer all ages and tastes. There is evidence of every period of history in just a small area of the city, and 21st century architecture sits alongside ancient Roman walls and an amphitheatre, medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed houses, handsome Georgian terraces, and Victorian restorations. The city is also renowned for its superb shopping in the famous 'Rows', and the picturesque walks to be discovered within the city boundaries and take a stroll along The Groves beside the River Dee, along the historic Roman Walls, or through the pretty Grosvenor Park. Venture out of Chester to discover the spectacular Welsh mountains and coastline, the golf courses of the nearby Wirral Peninsula, and the market towns and villages of Cheshire.

This review is only for the owner, Tony and the Property itself. We may have booked through Sykes but after the initial booking online we had no cause to deal with them again. The Blue Door is only about a steady 10 minute walk from the historic city of Chester. The property itself is ultra modern and is presented to a high standard. We found it to be clean and had everything we needed for our stay. However, because of the high standard of restaurants in the area we mainly ate out. We visited, Chester Zoo, New Brighton for the championship crazy golf courses, Blackpool for the illuminations and Llandudno to ride the tram to the summit of the Orme. We had cause to advise Tony of a VERY minor maintenance issue (stiff windows openings) and within hours he came and sorted it for us. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

The blue door was a fantastic property, exceeded our expectation, it was clean, well furnished quality appliances and in a great location for the centre of Chester, Chester Zoo and the North Wales border.. Communication with the property manager was faultless. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return to the blue door again.

Very nice property in a quiet area yet within easy walking distance of the town centre and all it's attractions.. Mr Devenport could not have been more helpful. I have put "met expectations" as my expectations of holiday rentals are high and this property met them.

Our second stay at the Blue Door, love this place! A very clean and well kept house, owner Tony is a super guy and only too pleased to try and help if you need anything. It's an easy walk of about five minutes into town or for a stroll along the ancient city walls. The Shropshire Union Canal is even closer, with some nice walks along the towpath. Chester Racecourse is also just minutes walk from the house. It's great to be able to leave the car parked on the driveway and just walk to all of the historic sites in Chester - or to the excellent shopping if that's more your thing! Within five munutes drive along the Sealand Road is a large retail park with many stores and supermarkets. We'll certainly be back to stay again.

Stayed as a group of girls. The house was spotless and well equipped. 3 large double rooms easily accommodated 5 of us. Chester centre is a 5 min walk away and there is a very reasonable car park just around the corner. The property manager is very approachable if you need him and gave us some great advice on where to go and eat etc. A great stay, I would highly recommend!

The peace and quiet was remarkable, so close to Chester's city center.. We enjoyed the house, it was just right for 4 adults and the bathroom facilities were great. Beds very comfy, we all slept well! The kitchen had a good layout and all we needed with respect to appliances and dishes and cutlery. In short, a great place for a break!

We really enjoyed our time spent at the Blue Door, it is a very comfortable and clean house in a great location very close to the city centre and races.. Tony was very accommodating and helpful we would recommend this property to anyone who is looking to explore Chester and the surrounding area.
July 2018
The house was very clean and perfectly placed to go to Liverpool and very close to the centre of Chester, the canal and the wall around Chester .We were based 5 minutes from an extremely nice pub that served lovely meals, Telfords Warehouse. Coming from living in a bungalow it was good exercise going up and down the stairs! Chester was a really sweet place to visit and again a couple of nice pubs called The Pied Bull in the centre of Chester and The Cellar, 5 minutes from the station were also recommended for food and atmosphere. The surrounding countryside was very scenic and if you get the chance to go a little further a field Snugbury's ice cream parlour was an amazing taste explosion! All in all a very relaxing holiday and plenty of room for 4 adults.

Very nice house, everything you would want and a short walk to the city walls and canal. Cheap and easy transport to Liverpool so dont need a car. Only down side was parking for one car.

This accommodation was the best we have had through Sykes.. The Blue Door is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The outside space is a bonus. A short walk into the town so no need to use the car. Although it stipulates the house is on three floors it would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. Ray and Pat

This house is a real home from home.. The location is ideal for exploring Chester, as the city centre is a 5 or 10 minute walk. The house is located in a very quiet area, so no traffic noise, or anything like that. The house is very comfortable, and very well equipped. The beds are particularly comfortable, and the bedrooms are a good size. I have nothing negative to say about this property, we had a wonderful holiday, and we will be staying again next year.
June 2018
Lovely house and very comfortable, very close to centre of town, only drawback only one parking place..
June 2018
The Blue Door was easy to find, wonderfully convenient for exploring Chester and proved to be an ideal base for trips to the Snowdonia National Park, The North Wales coast as well as the Peak District.. Mr Davenport was very welcoming and the accommodation was as described, comfortable with very good facilities. We would recommend The Blue Door without reservation

The satellite TV system was erratic, didn't have a predictable usual method of operation so involved switching on in doubt each evening.. Also king size bed on top floor was very uncomfortable compared with one next floor down.

We had a lovely week at the Blue door, the house is immaculately clean and warm.. And only a very short walk up the hill to the town centre which is such a lovely place to visit. Lots of restaurants close by you don't need to drive anywhere. Parking at the blue door is for one car only which was great for us as most of the week it was only my husband and myself. Our son came to visit us for the weekend and found free parking on the next street along but this is not available during the week, although there is a pay car-park by the railway station 5 minutes away. We never fully found out how to work the AppleT.V. as there was no instructions but this was our fault as we could have asked. The Wi-Fi was great and very fast. Please remember when you visit to bring everything you need to start you off i.e. salt/pepper milk dishwasher tablets etc but if you forget the shops are so near it’s not a problem . We had a lovely week in a lovely house in a lovely town. We would very much recommend this property

Having stayed a few times around the Chester area, at various other locations , and to varying degrees of satisfaction, this is by far and away the best we've been to . The location is superb , with short walks to all the interesting parts the city has to offer . Having young children, I was looking for something that would not only be well located but give us the comfort we would get in a quality hotel ....it didn't disappoint . Tony, the owner , was very welcoming and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was what we wanted. The property itself is excellent , clean and spacious, as well as having every thing you would expect in a modern home. The kids felt like they were at home and were really sad to leave. We are hoping to visit the city in early summer and will make this our first choice...

Very easy to find clean and tidy.. Can’t wait to come back

Gorgeous property that is clearly well looked after. Had everything that we three girls needed, including comfy sofas to lounge around on. Lovely peaceful place, with excellent off road parking, but within walking distance of the town centre.

Very clean and quiet property. Convenient for the city center. The owner was very helpful and couldn't have done any more. I would stay there again.

The blue door is situated a 5 minute walk from the city centre and a 2 minute walk from the canal - for walking/running along. Its a stunning place to visit with lots of history. We spent a week here and genuinely did not want to come home! The house is beautiful and has everything you need. Its very comfortable and spacious. It was cleaned to a very high standard and decorated beautifully. The area is very quiet for being so close to the centre. There are so many restaurants close by you don't have to drive anywhere. We would love to visit again soon and recommend the blue door to anyone wishing to visit Chester.
