The house has been described as ‘the perfect English house’ and one of the twenty best English houses alongside Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and Chatsworth House. The house is lived in and has been in the care of the same family for more than four hundred years. The walled gardens and woodland walks are beautiful. Nearby Bridlington has two award-winning beaches of golden sand stretching out on either side of the historic harbour, bustling with activity. Beautifully designed promenades provide everything from fun-fairs to quiet places where you can sit and watch the world go by. Disappointing Stay at The Blue Bell Burton Agnes - Filthy Conditions and Flies Everywhere - Booked thru Skyes Holiday Cottages
My cousin booked The Bluebell in North Yorkshire over a year ago to celebrate her special 60th birthday with high hopes for a relaxing weekend. Unfortunately, what we experienced was a complete nightmare.
The bathroom in our room was absolutely disgusting. The shower curtains were caked with limescale and mould at the bottom, and the toilet had grimy limescale under the rim, which was visible even from the bedroom. The bath plug hole was filthy, making it impossible to shower during my entire weekend stay.
What made matters worse was the unbelievable fly infestation. The hotel was full of flies, especially in the kitchen, dining area, and games room, despite the lack of windows to enter. We had to cover all food and drinks constantly and spent every meal swatting flies away, making sitting down to eat unbearable.
As the baker, I couldn’t even decorate the cake ahead of time because we couldn’t leave it out due to the flies. I had to wait until the actual birthday to finish the cake.
Overall, the dirty bathroom and the overwhelming presence of flies ruined what should have been a memorable celebration. I would not recommend The Blue Bell to anyone. We left feeling disgusted and disappointed.
If I could give a minus number, I would, unfortunately, have to leave one star.

We booked a weekend break at a The BlueBell
In North Yorkshire. You would think they would make sure the pictures on their site is actually as advertised.
The photos on the site does not represent the place! They need to be removed. If you want I can show you what the place Actually look like. The place needs an urgent revamp. The kitchen is full of flies they are also in the fridge. The damp and musky smell. The bathroom are disgusting. The place looks like the broom , mops and soap are on lockdown. There is a room that supposed to hold cleaning stuff the room has all stuff all over the floor towels on the floor that are filthy brown yellow colour the smell.
If you are booking there be warned bring a whole bunch of cleaning products. The tv room old and musky oh yeah TV does not work cannot be programmed says not updated since 2018. Cobwebs and flies all over. We had a room with some red spots on the sheet don’t think I need to say what that is. The towel in the same room were wet as the room was not cleaned this Also is the disabled room the bathroom omg muck. The games room has only a table tennis table the chair are dirty with cobweb and lots of stains we used wet cloth to wipe the muck off. The place was not cleaned before we go there more likely never cleaned.
We had to go to Morrison and buying cleaning products to clean and sanitise the place. The toilet do not flush properly some toilets were used before we got there, The bath water would not go down after having a shower and when yuh tried the muck that came out of the hole.
The sheets has black stuff on them one has red stuff on it. The bar room another mess and dirty , the pool table very old and dirty , the tables not cleaned.
The housekeeper is on holiday but her number is one we supposed to contact. Please do not book you will regret it. The whole place is not worth the fee you paid to stay there. I wish there was a minus star to click !!
