Lynda the host was great and the cottage was very well organised and provisioned.. There is road noise from the A40 outside which we did not find that an issue but others may. It was a great place to stay and we recomend it..

This was our second stay at the Apple Store.. It's easy to get to, and in a perfect spot for visiting the Wye river and Forest of Dean. There are plenty of excellent local pubs and eating places and a great little deli corner shop, all in walking distance. The owners are friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. Thank you Lynda for the delicious cake!

The apple store is a well positioned holiday cottage in a friendly village location.. We were made very welcome by the owners who were very helpful and informative of local walks in the area.

The owner was very welcoming, we had homemade cake, bread, milk and other essentials left for us so couldn’t fault that.. The only thing we were unhappy with was the bed, it was very uncomfortable.

The Wye Valley is a beautiful area and the Applestore is a comfortable, well-equipped cottage.. We found there was quite a lot to see and do, even in January. We had a good lunch at the Old Court hotel in Whitchurch. We visited the village church in Kempley where some of the wall paintings go back to the 1100s when the church was built. Well worth the visit We visited Goodrich. We went to the church service in Goodrich on the Sunday morning where we were warmly welcomed. We had lunch at the castle and then enjoyed going round it - it has an amazing position overlooking the River Wye. And then we went up to Symonds Yat Rock, where the views are superb. We had a few hours in Monmouth, the Monnow bridge is interesting and there are plenty of shops. We visited Tintern Abbey - the weather forecast for sunshine proved inaccurate, there was quite a lot of rain, but it was still worth visiting. Like Fountains Abbey and Rievaulx that we know well, it was a Cistercian foundation, and we could certainly see similarities.

The Apple Store is one of the best cottages we have stayed in, everything one would want is provided, it is clean and above all the owner Lynda issue welcoming and full of knowledge about the surrounding area.. When we arrived there was a marvellous lemon drizzle cake, a loaf of bread butter, sugar, tea etc. I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Just to top it off there is a fantastic Restaurant /Coffee shop just up the road called the Potting Shed.

I can’t recommend this cottage enough.. We loved the location of the, you can easily walk down to the Wye River with lovely walks along both banks. A stiff climb up to Simmonds Yat is also fun and there’s a good cafe to recover from the exertion. Lynda the owner left us a wonderful cake, fresh bread butter milk and marmalade and biscuits for our two dogs. We came away totally refreshed and will be booking again for next year. Thank you.

Everything we had read in the reviews were true, so our expectations were heightened therefore they were met rather than exceeded.. Like most people we thought the Lemon drizzle cake delicious, and the nearby Potting Shed excellent.

It was a last minute decision to look for somewhere not too far away from home for weekend away.. Found The Apple Store with quick central area dog friendly search and we were not disappointed. Despite being very last minute, the owners had the cottage ready for us. It was clean and had everything we needed. It is in a fantastic location for walking and dogs and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

As with many cottages, the mattress was clapped out.. Very uncomfortable. The people in the appartment above were very noisy, which spoilt our stay, and left two days early. Old buildings such as Apple Store are not really suitable for convertion as they cannot be sound proofed economiclly.

Our stay at The Apple Store was extremely enjoyable.. Lynda and David are the perfect hosts and seem to cater for your every need. On arrival there was a fresh loaf, butter and marmalade, milk, tea bags, coffee etc. and it would be rude not to mention the home baked delicious lemon drizzle cake! We had packed loads of things we just didn't need because Lynda and David supply all the basics and much more. The Apple Store is homely and comfortable and the garden (front and back) was totally secure for our dog. We walked the dog for miles and also visited Monmouth which is a lovely little town, virtually four or five miles away. The Butterfly Zoo is in easy walking distance and is a wonderful experience, so many different species of butterflies, you can stay as long as you like and even return later in the day if you wish. The price is reasonable and the staff are helpful and courteous. The Potting Shed restaurant is literally "over the road" from The Apple Store, it is dog friendly and offers a wide and varied choice of dishes. We enjoyed a lovely lunch there, the weather was so hot (this is the middle of October) we sat in the garden, however if you want to, they will accommodate you inside, with your dog. We have no hesitation in recommending The Apple Store and the surrounding area is a delight, we will certainly be returning.

We couldn’t of asked for a better location, cottage or hosts.. Everything was perfect, including the weather, which I know isn’t always guaranteed in the UK. We arrived to a wonderful homemade Lemon Drizzle cake, and enough extras to make sure we didn’t need to go out and shop on the first evening. The cottage is an old stone building and stays wonderfully cool on even the hottest days, but the garden is always bright and sunny giving the best of both worlds. There are plenty of good walks within easy access on foot and our two dogs loved swimming in the Wye which in June was slow and cool. There are pubs and tea rooms aplenty again within easy walking distance and a short drive takes you to many small villages which can make a good base for the day, we found many circular walks locally that always ended in a good pub lunch of cream tea. I would happily recomend this cottage to anyone wanting to relax and recharge their batteries. We could not have been more relaxed when we returned home and are already planning to return next year.

The Apple Store is a real home from home .. ....we received a very warm welcome from the owners who gave us gifts of homemade cake, bread and even some dog biscuits !! The cottage is immaculately furnished and the location is very quiet and peaceful yet within minutes of the Symonds Yat area which is ideal for walking and lots of outdoor pursuits along the river. We will definitely stay here again when next in the area.
