We absolutely love to find places with a bit of character, somewhere we can base ourselves and explore nearby towns, go walking but also to relax in between. This cottage did not let us down at all. If you want all mod cons, then this might not be the place for you, having said that, the WiFi was good strength, the bath and shower were brilliant (and the bath has a jacuzzi / bubbles function!) and there’s a htmi cable for those who want to plug in a fire stick to watch a film or two. The kitchen has everything you could need; oven, toaster, microwave, cafetière, kettle, every pot and pan you can think of, and all the utensils. We were worried that it said there was a small freezer, and in comparison to the fridge it is just a drawer, however this was bigger than we expected and managed to get some bags of frozen bits in there with room to spare. The living room we fell in love with straight away, the character is beautiful especially with the central fire - proper cottage style although we didn’t use it due to the time of year. There was a dining area which gave plenty of room, and a window seat, plus allowed us to play some board games in the evening too. The bathroom is spacious, and the garden is beautiful. We took advantage of having our morning coffee outside, and also a few drinks and a bbq one evening, without anyone having view of the garden so nice and private. The upstairs took us by surprise, it had barely changed from when it was first created, the flooring is traditionally uneven as you would expect in an old cottage that’s a few hundred years old, but equally well maintained so that there are no squeaks or trips or dangers, just lots of character. Both bedrooms are lovely in size, and both have a wardrobe, with the master bedroom having an en suite and tv as well. Every morning I woke up with a grin due to the quaintness. We loved everything about it. We had a minor problem with a wasp visitor for two mornings (only 1 and at 5am dead sharp!) and spotted a wasps nest in the thatched roof. It didn’t bother us as none were getting in during the day, but Malcolm the owner and Ali the caretaker could not have been more efficient. Within 24 hours of sending a text, we had messages and calls updating us, and the problem sorted by the next morning! Nothing is too much of a problem for them. The cottage is really well positioned, parking is first come first served however we used the car 4/7 days we were there and never had to park anywhere other than outside the cottage. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of Da Luigis, and also the Eight Bells. We visited shortly after lockdown restrictions were lifted and were dubious of going out for a meal but everywhere we went made us feel safe and welcomed. Wonderful place to Explorer the Cotswolds from, gorgeous cottage and very well kept. Highly recommended!

Sad disappointment.Neglected, poorly maintained inside and out, moldy odors, old towel stained brown left to stop water coming in,leaking washing machine, rusty and moldy shower, stained furnishings, sheets, water damaged wall, stiff towels, unwashed kitchenware and countertop, So much potential, a shame, it could be so sweet with some care. We had to leave within 24 hours, which we did,and now have to battle the owner who denies it all, despite photos takes no responsibility and implies we fabricated the situation.Like we'd want to wreck our trip, spend more, scurry to find new accommodations and be so upset? Manor Cottages has no interest in customer relations, they won't mediate.Find something else with another company.

Nope! It was just perfect.. Very comfortable, little, cottage which gave a good coming home to - feel. Lot's of nice pubs/restaurant on walking distance, so no need to cook!

The cottage was characterful but unfortunately we had not appreciated that the location on Sheep Street would be so affected by traffic noise.. We live in a very quiet village so found it hard to sleep or relax in the cottage. Fortunately the weather was kind so that we could go out for days. I have learnt a valuable lesson and will in future always ask if a property is in a quiet location. Re the cottage itself the remote control for the fire did not work so we had to trouble Alison the caretaker (very kind and courteous) who confirmed that the remote didn't work and she came and sorted it out and left instructions re manual operation. In addition there were various stickers over extractor fans saying do not switch off. For example in downstairs bathroom it was switched off so I turned it on but then it didn't automatically switch off. One of my main bug bears is that cottage owners should ensure that everything is in working order including light bulbs. On the upside the beds were comfortable.

The cottage was perfect for our stay - it was better than the pictures showed.. The location was the best part - super close to the high street and easy to get to all of the other villages. The cottage was warm ane cosy. Definitely would recommend.

We really enjoyed staying at Thatched Cottage again, 2016 was our first visit.. The cottage is exactly what you would expect for the cotswolds and so cosy. The location is perfect for walking local and driving to other villages. The garden out back is so nice. The kitchen is well stocked of utensils and cookware and you can take a quick walk just down the road for groceries. We also got to meet Ginny the caretaker on our last day as we were loading up the car, she was so nice. Would highly recommend booking this cottage for that quaint cotswolds experience. Sept 2018
