Fab place, great for dogs, comfortable, well equiped and owners couldn't do enough for us.. Only one thing missing, a washing line! other than that the place was spot on and we would deffo book again and recommend. Thank you. Nic, Roo, Will (Ty & Nelly - dogs!)

The 2 bedroom cottage was absolutely stunning.. On arrival the owner who greeted us was very helpful. Advised us on a few things (from a distance due to Coronavirus) but was helpful throughout our stay if we needed anything. Very clean to walk in to which is important right now with Coronavirus! The kitchen was well equipped. The living area was very comfortable and cosy. The bedrooms were a good size with 1 ensuite and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Our room was lovely with the patio doors opening out onto the garden. The large garden area with lovely patio seating was wonderful to sit out in....the large lawn was loved by our 2 dogs too and very safe as it was all fenced in. All cooking utensils provided so good for self catering. (Our only feed back is to check plates, bowls, cups and glasses as we did find mugs and cups with chips in them. Of which we returned 2 of the mugs but found more chipped cups) But other than that it's a fabulous place to stay. Some nice dog walks locally too, especially back across the railway line and down to the station...a nice quiet walk. The Duke Of Cumberland Pub is about a 10 minute drive, but highly recommended for meals. We would certainly stay here again!

Fantastic cottage, spacious and clean.. Good amenities, lovely large kitchen/dining room/lounge with log burner- you could help yourself to extra logs for £4 a bag and just leave the money when you leave. Our two Boston Terriers loved the big enclosed garden and we loved the large courtyard where you can park right outside your door. Great location to visit Hadrian’s wall, Gretna Green etc and loads of walks, parks, hills and forests nearby. Great pub serving lovely food, The Howard Arms a short drive away in Brampton and a cracker The Samson Inn in Gilsland where we ate after Hadrian’s wall at Housesteads. All in all a fab stay, we even asked to stay an extra night and luckily they had availability. Highly recommended.

It was a lovely relaxing holiday.. It was a good base to see near by places of interest. A good size garden for our dog who really enjoyed herself. The owner Mrs Ackerly is a lovely lady, on our arrival came to see if there was any thing we needed and gave us local information and an I struction of how to use the log burner (we don't have one at home). One day of our departure our dog had enjoyed it that much she didn't want to leave as she turned rou d and went back inside. Have booked again for next year at Swift cottage, Milton.

Swift cottage is lovely, just what we needed.. It was very comfortable and clean and a great base for our trip away. The host is great, and informative. The hot tub was fab, and how we spent our evenings. I was there with a friend and my dog. There was plenty of lovely local walks, Talkin Tarn Country Park was a favourite. The walk along the lake was beautiful, and the coffee and cakes from the tearoom were delicious, it's only a 5 minute drive away from the cottage. Miltonrigg woods is also a lovely walk, it's within walking distance from the cottage. Milton itself is quite a quiet place, and if you aren't into walking there's Brampton which is only a few minutes from swift cottage. There's plenty pubs, restaurants and shops there. The Cranston food market is amazing! I bought lots of nice meats from there to take home. The Bite cafe and gallery was our favourite place to eat out. This was my second visit to swift cottage, and I plan on returning soon.

The facilities are fantastic and was obvious that when the place was refurbished it was to the highest standard possible.. The open fire was a lovely feature and loved sitting there on a night with it roaring away. The garden was fantastic for our two dogs as it was safe and they could not get out. The kitchen was stocked to allow you to cook anything and shops are only a few miles away. I was disappointed that the cottage we had did not have a hot tub and the communal hot tub was filthy so could not have used this during the stay. If you want a hot tub holiday you need to check if the cottage has one or that the communal hot tub is cleaned ad ready for use just a short walk across the courtyard. We would definitely come back to these cottages

Absolutely lovely cottage, would definitely stay again.. Beautiful setting and such a nice, big garden. It was a real shame that the hot tub was really dirty and only one jet worked the summer house was a bit of a mess. Definitely needs to be sorted out so it is as brilliant as everywhere else. No tea and milk welcome pack was a bit of a surprise too but just little notes for improvement and I would definitely stay again.

Great holiday.. The owners of the cottage were lovely and provided lots of info and essentials in the cottage. Only thing that could of been improved was the hot tub wasn’t in fully working order. Definitely recommend!

The holiday was superb.. The cottage was fantastic and cosy making it feel like our home for the week. The owners were friendly but not intrusive at all; the dogs were more than welcome and the cottage garden was fully enclosed so they could run and play. The owners gave us a basket full of logs for the fire; first batch free of charge...due to the colder nights we had 4 fires which was lovely. All in all we could not fault this holiday...from the little extras like the loo rolls which make a difference. We are already looking to book again for next year. Definitely one of a kind and firmly recommended.

This cottage offers a lot. It sleeps four and has two bathrooms. It is clean and comfortable with plenty of room. If you have pets (dogs are welcome) or children (Also welcomed I assume) then it offers an enclosed back garden of lawn for them to excercise and enjoy. It is equipped with almost everything you would want including a dishwasher and a washing machine. It is single storey with parking outside the front door so easily accessible (although a couple of steps up to the door itself). An excellent location for touring the area. Many good pubs in the area and Brampton is easy to get to for Coop and Spar supermarkets. Friendly and very helpful owners. All in all there are many positives about this place but also a few niggles. The garden is a nice place to sit out in on a sunny day and furniture is provided for that and also lovely picture windows in the lounge but, unfortunately, considering the lovely countryside around, the view is almost totally obscured by the modern barn. Yes, I know it is a farm but it is a pity the view is so restricted. Also the large picture windows in the lounge allow the room to get very hot indeed on a sunny day but the only way to get any air in is to open the door to the patio which can cause problems on a breezy day we found. Also, on our visit, the lock to this door had also jammed and made it very difficult to open and relock. This was fixed on our last day. Towel rails in the bathrooms were supposed to be controlled by clever electronic timers/thermostats but neither worked properly during our vist. One was on all the time (very hot - care needed with children) and the other did not work at all, even after the owner tried to fix it, so that bathroom was quite cool first thing in the morning. Bathroom mirror lighting (needed as ordinary lighting made it difficult to shave/make up properly) didn't work in either bathroom. One was fixed by owner later in week. Another irritation was the free WiFi. We did not book through Sykes but another agency. However it seems that Sykes provide the free WiFi (6 MB and keeps dropping out) and, as a condition of signing on, want to know your name, sex, date of birth, email address, mobile phone number, etc. Personally I resent having to provide such detailed information for such a service especially when I did not even use their company to book. I stress that the owners were always very nice and helpful and did their best to help fix the problems and I cannot really fault them (although I do wonder why so many things needed fixing, especially at the beginning of the season). Overall actually a good place to stay but, with a little more effort, it could be great.

Just returned from a long weekend at the lovely Swift Cottage.. This is a great Cottage with all mod cons and everything you need. The garden was massive and enclosed so brilliant for those taking their dog with them. The Cottage was exceptionally clean and the wood burning stove was a real bonus. The owners are lovely people who ho the extra mile to make your holiday great. The new not problem is that it was so hard to leave! I would definitely recommend a stay at this Cottage

Stayed here for a week with our young family. The super friendly owners met you on site to show you around Cottage and tell you about local attractions etc. The house itself was lovely and the sun room stunning. Our kids loved being able to play out the back in the enclosed garden. We opened the sun room door and let them play away, whilst we could see them at all times through the sun room. In a rural location perfect for exploring Cumbria and the northern Lakes. Milton Mains holiday cottage are only a couple of miles away from Talkin Tarn Country Park. We visited the park 3 times during our stay. You can walk around the Lake, feed the ducks and the kids take advantage of the new sand play area there. It was a lovely wee quiet spot. Hadrians Wall right on your doorstop. You are only a couple of miles away from the Aviation Museum which my husband really enjoyed. Walby Farm Park only about 10 mins away and it was a great day out if you have young children. Carlisle town is about 20 minutes away. About 45 minutes took you into Keswick, beautiful little place, really something about it and amazing sand park there also and the Lakes, well what can I say. Amazing!!! Went this direction 2 days and it was lovely to return to base to the lovely comfortable Swift Cottage after a day out. We lit the BBQ provided one sunny evening and enjoyed the new wicker outdoor furniture provided too. We were blessed with fantastic shorts and t shorts weather all week. It rained one morning and one night but bar that, we were really fortunate to have a dry sunny week (2 days scorchers)! Many thanks Mable and John for the use of your lovely Cottage.

We have just come back from a brilliant one weeks stay at Swift Cottage, cannot fault it at all. It was very spacious and clean, sometimes the images on line show accommodation in a better light, however, this was even better than we expected. The enclosed garden was fantastic for our two dogs to run around in when we weren't out walking with them in the field on the farm. The kitchen was really well equipped and with plenty of everything, the dishwasher was a real bonus! The hot tub was a great place for all of us to chill out, whatever the weather, a brilliant extra. The location was great too, very peaceful, but not far from Hadrian's wall, lots of lovely villages, and only 10 miles from Carlisle too! Last, but not least, the owners were very helpful and always on hand if we needed them. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great place for a relaxing break, and we look forward to going back ourselves.

Can't fault swift cottage at all. We decided to spend the second half of our honeymoon here with the sole purpose of relaxing and getting away from it all and that's exactly what we did. The cottage is situated in the small town of Milton which is about a mile away from Brampton (which has a co-op, pubs, take aways, golden fortune chinese delivers and is very nice, coffee shops etc.) Milton itself is very quiet but that's exactly what we were after. There was a lovely walk through a nearby forest which we both enjoyed, and there are plenty of other things to see and do in the local area, Hadrians wall is about 4 miles away and Carlisle is about 10 miles away if you want to go shopping. As other reviewers have said there aren't a lot of big supermarkets nearby so I would suggest doing a shop closer to home and taking it with you, there is plenty of cupboard space and a decent size fridge freezer to store everything. The cottage itself is exactly what you'd want for a short break. Clean, comfortable, and well equipped. We took our own basics, tea coffee sugar etc. but found it was already there which was great, there's a dish washer to save on washing up which was even better and the cottage was clean from top to to bottom. The log fire was great with enough wood to keep you going for a couple of days and more available for a small fee should you need it. We took our dog which has been an issue in places we have stayed previously as she's a bit of an escape artist and so we have to leave her tied up or behind closed doors to prevent her escaping, wasn't an issue here though! A previous reviewer mentioned pallets on parts of the fence in the garden to plug some holes but these have now gone and the fence is complete giving an excellent enclosed space for dogs to run around, we didn't sit out there because of the weather but I imagine in summer it would be nice to sit and have a bbq and a drink out there. We didn't end up using the hot tub but that looks great as well. What more can i say...friendly owners...great accommodation....lovely area...perfect!

This was a fantastic cottage with really great owners who were so friendly and accommodating! I took all sorts, however compared to other cottages this was so well equipped, it had everything you could think of. It was comfortable and cosy with a great garden for the dog and a nice woodland walk near by.

Myself, boyfriend, my sister and her partner all visited The Swift Cottage over May bank holiday weekend - with our two dogs. We couldn't have wished for a better weekend! We were greeted on arrival, and shown around the beautifully furnished cottage - all brand new and beautifully finished. We chose the Swift Cottage simply on having it's own, private/fenced off garden - which worked better with us having the dogs. The kitchen was fully equipped with more than the basic essentials, the log burner supplied with plenty of wood/paper and lovely new bedding and towels. The hot-tub being 'shared' was far from an issue. Just a short walk across the courtyard to the summer house where you can hang a dressing gown/flip flops and jump in! It's on all year, so it's really warm - fantastic to watch the sun go down with a glass of bubbles...all to ourselves too! The area is very quiet, there's a walk through the woods just across the road from the Cottage, ideal to walk the dogs in a morning - or a short drive to many areas! The 4 of us really enjoyed our stay, and couldn't recommend it strongly enough! We look forward to returning in the summer :) thank you for having us!
