Swallows Barn description

Holiday home
Swallows Barn is a stunning barn conversion that blends plenty of period charm and exposed beams with contemporary style and modern comfort. Upside down to take advantage of the stunning views to Lake Ullswater and Helvellyn beyond, Swallows Barn sleeps 6 in 1 en-suite double bedroom and a further double with use of the family bathroom.Twin bedroom. Upstairs there's a dining kitchen and a superb open plan living room which takes in those breathtaking views. You'll also enjoy relaxing on the private patio and there's off road parking for 1 car. Just 400 yards from the water's edge, Swallows Barn is an ideal location for family, friends or couples wanting to explore the most romantic of all the lakes, and the Lake District beyond, whatever the time of year.

The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Swallows Barn is a cosy cottage that had everything we needed and more. Fantastic location with amazing views. Comfy beds and fantastic showers. 30min walk to Pooley Bridge and 20 mins to Parkfoot Farm. The perfect base to explore the area.

Listing said that the barn was 5 minutes walk from a pub and shop.. We walked to what we thought was the closest and it took about 25 minutes at a reasonable pace. Also towels could be hired at reception but were included at the barn. However, we had a great holiday and the barn was very comfortable and we had no negative comments about it.

Lovely place to stay .. . well recommended .. of all the years visiting the Lake District this has to be the best stay at Swallows Barn

Everything was pretty wonderful.. A few things that could make the experience truly exceptional, not just wonderful. 1. The girls at Park Foot gave us the wrong keys. We arrived late on Sunday night and if it weren’t for Darren who lives next door to the property we would not have been able to get in. 2. It would be truly great if you were to provide : soap in the bathrooms, even just a tiny liquid soap. This is always such a nice touch 3. Salt and pepper would have been great. I realise that these are tiny, tiny things (apart from the key) but it is such an exceptional space that those small details would make the difference for us. It was stunning though and he location is quite exceptional

The cottage was great.. Full of character and beautiful views. The beds we're comfy and we had the most relaxing time Heating was excellent and the amenities were Fine A few little disappointments The sofa's were uncomfortable and had seen better days and the cleaning could have been better, but all in all we were very happy and would go again

Whilst we generally had a very good experience of Swallow'sBarn, there were one or two minor things.. There was no small paring knife in the kitchen drawer, only large knives not suitable for peeling etc. The shower in the separate bathroom would suddenly run very hot and then very cold, which might be a problem for a child. Some information leaflets about what there was to see and do in the local area would have been useful. Otherwise it was fine. The beds were comfortable, which is always a bonus when sleeping away from home.

Fabulous place, superb views, we loved our stay here, the location was perfect for what we wanted.. The neighbours were lovely & helpful. Slightly lower on cleanliness due to some cobwebs, otherwise great.

Cottage on the whole is well presented and the barn conversion is very well done.. One niggle is that the patio is accessed through the second bedroom. The cottage was like an oven when we arrived, turning down the underfloor heating takes a long time to have any effect, so the first night was very uncomfortable in the en-suite bedroom. Was annoyed on check-in (at the holiday camp a mile away from the cottage) to be expected to sign away £50 against damages, to find damaged furniture and window blinds when we got to the cottage. When I booked this deposit wasn't shown on the website, though I see it is now. Never been asked to do this at any other cottage. More than a week after leaving and I'm still waiting for the credit refund. Finally, the stair carpet is worn and can be slippery in the wrong shoes, as I found out to my cost.

Wow, this was a lovely cottage to stay in.. Spacious and furnished to a high standard. Wonderful views. Patio is a lovely sun trap, with breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Would love to stay here again. The upside down nature of the accommodation added a level of novelty too. One niggle was that the bedroom with en-suite was a little too hot and didn't seem to respond to the heating control - to be fair, we didn't raise it with the staff at the time.

Swallow Bank was great, and Darren couldn't have been more helpful when the snow hit.. Two small points, the towels went from being included at booking to having to be hired, this issue was however sorted with Sykes cottages, and, the fact that a credit card is required for damage security should have been stated on the website.

Listing said that towels were included.. On arrival we found that there were no towels provided. When we went back to Park Foot Holiday Park reception, we were told that there was a £10 charge for two bundles of towels, which we had to pay and would be obliged if you could refund this a.s.a.p. The listing also stated that a pub and shop were within a 5 minute walk. These were on the holiday park and as it was out of season, they were both closed. The nearest were nearly 2 miles away down a road which was not safe to walk, especially at night. You need to state this on your website that these facilities are unavailable out of season. Apart from this, the property is beautiful and comfortable. In a beautiful part of the country with views of Ullswater.

Myself, a friend and her mother stayed for 3 days in May 2017. Fantastic views in every direction. The 3 bedrooms are downstairs, beds very comfortable and good sized rooms. The kitchen/diner is on a half level and the lounge/living room up another half level. All the amenities you could want, large, comfortable rooms. We have already recommended this property to several people as a wonderful place to stay. We had a couple of minor problems during our stay, which were attended to very quickly. All in all a really nice stay.

wow what can I say just spent a week at swallows barn and it was mind blowing. beautiful cottage which could sleep a family of 6 with ease. it was great having all that space for just the 2 of us and we could have roller skated around the front room as it was soo big lol. the views to the fells are breath taking and change every day. lots of walking in area we tried Helvellyn but the snow on the tops stoped us from reaching the top but we will be back. aria force is another great walk and ullswater is stunning and only a 10 min stroll from the cottage. will defo be back to stay here again and again and if my numbers come up I would buy it!! love it !!

Fantastic cottage. Well laid out, with plenty of room. The views are amazing and breathtaking. The owners have put a lot of thought into the accommodation, which is very comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. If you want a peaceful stay with lakeside views then this cottage is a must. It is reasonably priced for the size and location. Out in the country, but close to Pooley Bridge and a short drive to Keswick.
