Swallow Cottage is a ground floor cottage in the grounds of the owner's B&B in Winkhill near Waterhouses and can sleep two people in one double bedroom. The cottage has underfloor heating throughout and includes a corner-shower room with WC, basin and electric towel rail. There is also an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside there is off road parking for one car and an enclosed lawned area with courtyard and seating. Swallow Cottage is ideal for a romantic break in a lovely countryside setting at any time of the year. Note: One well-behaved dog welcome.

Area
Winkhill is a tiny hamlet close to the Peak District National Park, two miles from the village of Waterhouses. Waterhouses has shops, pubs and eateries, and also offers access to the Manifold Trail, a long, flat track along the former railway line, much used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The Alton Towers Theme Park is a short drive away, and the rest of the Peak District National Park is on the doorstep.

Region
The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

This was our second visit to Swallow Cottage. It is an amazing place, the cottage has all you need for a peaceful holiday. Our dog Bear loves the enclosed garden. Owners Darren and Louise are amazing couple, nothing is to much for them. We have booked recently for a week 1st March impulse booking, we also have another week in August. We highly recommend Swallow Cottage.

Lovely cottage & hosts.. I felt very safe with the covid situation. Good walks locally. Lots of extras provided in kitchen & bathroom. Biscuits & cake also. Louise changed the heating for me twice. Very comfy large bed and small sofa. She cooked me a breakfast & brought it over. Good tv & wi fi reception. Cupboard space in kitchen was limited so I used the dishwasher as one. Toilet was high for my little legs. Dog didn't like the underfloor heating & was tempted to leap the wall after the limited traffic he also found he could push through the chicken wire at bottom of hedge. He is only just a year old, I had taken a horse training lead just incase. If he were older I think he would have been fine. I had a brilliant time & came away feeling completely refreshed.

Excellent use of space in cosy barn conversion.. Very good for two with dog friendly facilities. Well fenced garden and parking space. Helpful but non intrusive hosts. WiFi variable but not in great area for reception. TV signal intermittent.

Hi We had a lovely stay , Louise was really friendly and helpful in communicating our arrival details and offered her help if we required it during the stay.. Lovely accommodation and right on the doorstep of good places to visit - we took the dogs for a walk up at the Roaches which has fantastic views and we’d highly recommend.

This cottage is small but very comfortable.. The bed is very comfortable and the whole place was clean. There are fantastic views and a large secure garden for a dog. The owner very nice but not intrusive. Plenty of parking and in an excellent location. All in all a really great place to say.

When we first walked in to the cottage, we thought it was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures.. However, having settled in to it , we found it to be a very nice and comfortable cottage. Garden was great for our dogs. Owners not on top of you, but very nice and available if wanted. Maybe a bizarre comment, but the raised toilet was excellent for someone with dodgy knees. Probably the only "down" thing is the TV reception (limited channels) but lets face it, you don't go on holiday to watch the box. Will probably return some time.

Great week away , so glad we found this little Gem .. Lovely cottage , clean , comfortable everything you need, nothing has been forgotten in this cottage . We took our 7 month only pup with us & we enjoyed all the walks around us , beautiful countryside & not too far to visit other places . We will sure to be visiting again in the future . Great cottage, location and hosts.. Had originally booked for seven nights, but arranged with the owners to arrive one day early and because we enjoyed our stay so much extended stay for another two nights. We were familiar with the area and in spite of worse than terrible weather it did not detract from the enjoyment of our time there. We will be returning to the area and intend to stay at the very same cottage and perhapsdwe will be luckier with the weather!

This is a perfect little cottage for two and their dog.. We enjoyed our stay immensely and were made to feel very welcome. The cottage is equipped with everything you need for a great break and little touches like the welcome pack made it that much better. The underfloor heating was excellent and the enclosed garden was perfect for our dog. We would definitely come back.

Swallow Cottage is the perfect little base for getaway.. Cosy yet practical, with a beautifully stocked kitchen (a corkscrew! Wine glasses! Decent saucepans! Sharp kitchen knives!!), a roomy and comfortable bedroom, and a lovely bathroom it has everything you need. The garden is nice and secure for dogs, so we were able to let our staffie run around and enjoy herself. Hosts Darren and Louise are lovely and made us feel so welcome, but weren't at all intrusive. We had a perfect break away from the city here in such beautiful surroundings - in fact, we got engaged! We will definitely be back.

Louise and Darren were very helpful, very welcoming and took care of the little things that make a holiday special, like the toiletries & things in the kitchen that you mostly have to buy yourself.. This property only has underfloor heating and you needed their oil filled radiator.. Well equipped though lacking an iron. Nice garden with views and well enclosed for our dog.

We really enjoyed staying in this clean,cosy, well equipped cottage.We liked the dark stone floor tiles with underfloor heating ,the white walls with nice artwork and a modern clock hanging on them,,the wooden doors and beams .The huge white bath was lovely.The wifi ,tv and radio were all useful. The friendly owners lived nearby should one need help.
