Sunny Hill is on the edge of Great Strickland in Cumbria. It offers two bedrooms which include a double with an en-suite and a single room with an additional pull-out stacker, there is also a bathroom, the property can sleep four guests. Inside, also find an open-plan living area containing a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with a woodburning stove. Outside is off-road parking for three cars, a patio with furniture and a lawn. Sunny Hill is a lovely cottage in a fine location for exploring the beautiful Lake District.

All ground floor. Two bedrooms: 1 x double with en-suite shower, basin and WC, 1 x single with additional pull-out stacker bed. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Open-plan living area with kitchen area, dining area and sitting area with woodburner.

Area
Ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and Eden Valley, the attractive, unspoilt rural village of Great Strickland makes an excellent holiday spot. Most of the local amenities for the village are provided by the nearby market town of Penrith and include a good selection of shops and restaurants, a cinema and swimming baths. Great Strickland does have some amenities with an excellent village pub. Just two miles away is the Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre whilst a cruise on one of Ullswater's motor yachts is also worth investigating – these leave hourly from Pooley Bridge, just five miles from Great Strickland. Dalemain Historic House, which was used as a backdrop in a television adaptation of Jane Eyre, is nearby as is the Rheged Discovery Centre, giving visitors a wide selection of holiday activities.

Me, my partner and our two dogs had a wonderful stay at Sunny Hill cottage in great Strickland in the Lake District area in Oct 2020 for a week. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpfull. The Cottage is very cosy and warm with a lovely Log Burner and central Heating. Pub just down the road, lovely countryside, and only a few mins down the road your in the mountain's and lakes. Can't wait to return in 2021. Thanks again to Neil and Michelle. Lovely hosts.

This cottage is just perfect and so refreshing to have pet friendly accommodation that is spotlessly clean. The owners have thought of everything here. It’s a truly fabulously equipped cottage and finished to a high standard. The owners, Michelle and Neil, are friendly and approachable and add a real welcoming feel to the place. We have every intention of staying there again and can genuinely recommend Sunny Hill.

We just stayed at the fantastic Sunnyhill cottage and had the most wonderful stay. We were instantly impressed by the pituresque village it’s in and even more impressed by the cottage itself. As soon as we walked in, we loved it, it’s exactly what the pictures show and even nicer in person. The beautiful and cosy living room opens up onto a patio with a large and fantastically well kept garden, perfect to sit in when the sun in shining and we even got a couple of visits from some bunnies too! The owners of the cottage are extremely welcoming and helpful and gave us such a warm welcome for my mam’s 60th Birthday. There are a few local pubs and restaurants nearby to try out too, the Strickland Arms is within walking distance and the does fab food. We also tried out the Punch Bowl which is about a 10 minute drive away which also had tasty food on offer. In summary, we could not have wished to stay anywhere else, we had a perfect time here and will definitely be returning in the future!

The words amazing, fantastic and perfect don't do this beautiful little cottage justice. I knew from the moment we arrived that this was a special place. It's situated in the quietest of loations and has amazing views. And as soon as we opened the front door, we knew we'd found a real gem. You walk into a lovely "cottagy" open plan kitchen, diner and living room which has patio doors that open up into the large garden area. We sat out in the garden and all we could hear were the birds and sheep. Bliss!! The 2 bedrooms are a good size with ample wardrobe room for all your bits and pieces. And there is a lovely en-suite with double shower and main bathroom with a bath. But you know what made this visit super special? The owners, Neil and Michelle. They thought of everything and more. I'd let them know it was my husband's big birthday, and they'd bought him a cake, a bottle of prosecco chilling in the fridge and sprinkled confetti on the dining room table where they placed the balloons I'd had delivered to their house. How lovely is that? They came to check we were ok once we had settled in and were on hand to give suggestions on where to go and what to do. And we met their lovely dogs who were just beautiful. This was our first time staying in a cottage, we normally stay in hotels or B&Bs. I have to say, I'm a convert. We have been truly spoilt on our first cottage stay. We will definitely be back!

Having been to Sunny Hill before we knew what to expect.. Very clean and comfortable. Met the new owners who were very kind and helpful. Left us a lovely bottle of wine and Cumbrian fruit cake. It's a beautiful area with so much to see. We even went over to the coast this time to Whitehaven Harbour and Marina and St Bees - terrific beach. Weather changeable but that's all part of the Lake District

Neil and Michelle gave us and our young retriever Ellie a very warm welcome.. Everything we needed for a week's break was in the house which was warm, airy and comfortable. Great Strickland is an excellent base for visiting the Lakes, the western Borders and the Yorkshire Dales. It has an excellent, friendly pub serving home cooked food.

A lovely week at this beautiful cottage, so warm and welcoming.. The owners were so helpful and have gone to great lengths to ensure this cottage is to an excellent standard. Lovely clean comfortable beds, on suite bathroom and overly big open living room and kitchen. Two big sofas that are very comfortable especially when your sitting in front of the log burner on a cold night. Thank you so much Neil & Michelle for allowing us to enjoy a lovely week at Sunny Hill

What a lovely few days we had with our 2 dogs at Sunny Hill.. A lovely welcome e mail arrived from Neil and Michelle before our visit. When we arrived the lights were on and the lovely couple came out to welcome us.Inside the cottage was lovely and cosy with a welcoming fruit loaf and bottle of wine.The cottage is perfect in every way and the grounds are superb for dogs well fenced and grassy.Spotless comfortable cottage we would definitely return and use as a base for the Lake District and Yorkshire.10 out of 10 for Neil and Michelle.

All the beds were too small and uncomfortable.. Several taps/fittings were loose. We failed to spot there was no washing machine in the property but felt it was a basic requirement in a modern self catering property. There was an insufficient amount of basic cutlery.

Very enjoyable holiday.. I especially like the fact that Sykes offer properties that cater for short breaks as well as full weeks. The property was lovely & peaceful with a beautiful garden. Perfect for sitting out on a sunny evening.
