What a fabulous homely lodge. Hosts had taken the trouble to leave us a Christmas gift and had decorated the lodge to make it festive. Everything you could need was provided. The facilities on site are great and there is plenty to see and do in the Lakes. We had a fantastic time. Thanks so much. Only minor irritation was the neighbouring lodge blocked out parking a couple of times due to the number of vehicles they had. Other than that it was perfect!

We were impressed with Sykes Holiday cottages as a company, providing information and prompt response to queries.. The lodge was ideally located to explore the lakes and the facilities on site were excellent. The lodge did provide everything to make our stay comfortable. However, we felt let down on the cleanliness in the lodge. oven trays were dirty and greasy as if they had been put back after being used without being washed. Under the sofa's were wrappers, straws cob webs and lots of dust. Down the sides of the single beds were lots of cob webs one containing a dead spider.
We were very lucky with the weather during our stay, sitting outside was a little spoilt by the cobwebs hanging from the roof. It was pleasant watching a variety of birds feeding from the bird feeder on the decking. The feeder did appear to be in the wrong place, being in the middle left the area covered in bird poo. It was not pleasant to sit and look at. ( I do have photographs if required)
We do run our own business and always welcome feedback as ways to improve. I hope you find our comments useful.

We had a great time.. The lodge was very warm and cosy. The bedrooms were spacious and has had comfortable beds. The shower was very good. The kitchen was well stocked with all you would need while away e.g. cups, glasses, plates etc.
The site is centrally situated for Ambleside and Bowness.

We think the cabin numbers could be made more clearer to see as you approach each one, perhaps the number and name of the lane on the side of the cabin especially if you arrive in the dark it took us ages, but it didn't help when reception told us to go right when we should have kept left from the barriers, but we found it eventually, we all had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend to friends
Thankyou

I cannot recommend Striding Edge Lodge highly enough. My partner I and our baby have had the best time staying here.
The lodge is so lovely, clean, very homely and has such a cosy feel to it. The owners Jan and Rod have really taken care of their guests by providing everything you need to really feel at home. Including a bookshelf packed full of books, DVDs and board games for typical Lake District rainy days.
We've loved sitting watching the birds from the living room window on the bird feeder.
It's in the heart of the Lakes so has been easy to get to and from various nearby spots such as Ambleside and Windermere where we've had some lovely days out.
The site it's based on has some fab facilities such as a swimming pool and bar/ restaurant that does lovely reasonably priced food.
Oh and if you fancy a takeaway pizza we got one delivered from the local Sourdough pizza in Ambleside which was delicious! Also recommend Daisy's Cafe in Ambleside Town centre for a really good breakfast.
We will definitely be back.

Had a lovely holiday at Striding Edge in White Cross Bay Park.. The Lodge was comfortable, homely, well equipped and well looked after by the owners. With White Cross Bay, location in the Park itself is crucial and Striding Edge is very well located, being high up with the verandah facing away from the road, towards the tops of the trees. We took 2 dogs and it was perfect for them, with an enclosed verandah and woods where we could walk them just across from the lodge. There’s a bird feeder on the verandah that attracts a wide variety of small birds. We filled it up and found it very relaxing just sitting watching the birds either from the verandah or through the lodge windows from the sitting room area. There is ample parking and it is a good base from which to enjoy the Lake District, with many attractions nearby. We would definitely book this lodge again. The booking process through Sykes was easy and everything went very smoothly, so we wouldn’t hesitate to book again with Sykes.

Needs a little TLC, quite dated.. Had everything we needed but a little upgrade would be appreciated. Really enjoyed the bird feeder on the patio. The birds were fascinating
Could do with a good clean as quite a few cobwebs about - might be being picky. The sink in the kitchen needs sorting as the draining board drain was blocked and beginning to smell. If we had been there longer we would have sorted. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. Thanks very much for a great few days.

Lodge was so cozy.. Bitter cold and snow when we were there but to come back to a lovely warm lodge which had everything you needed in it. Also catered so well for children with games/books/pens etc. So much thought put in by the owners. Would definitely recommend. Unfortunately for us our dog was poorly and couldn't take her and then my granddaughter was poorly so the family couldn't come either. Ended up just myself and my husband and I was so upset things didn't go to plan. We came home Sunday so one day early with them being poorly too. But cannot take anything away from the cottage. Only thing I would mention of the entertainment complex is that its not that big. I wouldn't like to see how busy it would be in school holidays but staff are lovely.

The lodge felt like a home from home. There was everything there that we needed and more (though a family argument did ensue when we attempted to play Pictionary!). The lodge was privately situated with decking that would have formed an excellent sun trap had we had a bit more sun. We would highly recommend to others.

We had a fantastic stay at Striding Edge. It was relaxing and had all the conveniences needed for a cottage holiday. The owners were very accommodating and provided a travel cot as needed for our 4 month old. The actual site facilities were great for families.

Just back from an amazing week away in this cottage and had the best time. Ideally situated to explore the Lake District with lots to do on site also such as a swimming pool, games area, play parks, forest and lake areas and a bar. The cottage was very cosy, warm, welcoming and well equipped with lots of lovely personal touches like toys and games, children's drawing stuff and low lighting. Loved it, well equipped kitchen and rooms, cosy beds and couches. We had 2 dogs with us who also loved it immediately. I can't wait to go again. Had to contact owner by email and they could not have been nicer or more helpful. I would absolutely recommend this cottage for a fantastic family holiday

The lodge was absolutely perfect. It had everything we needed as a family with young children. Striding Edge had plenty of equipment, enough to make anything; we even baked a cake! The games and books for children were also a lovely touch; it made us feel that our children were welcome and could relax as much as us.

We stayed at Striding Edge for a week in September. The lodge was perfect, it was well maintained in a lovely, peaceful location. Previously we have found that some self catering accommodation has the bare minimum when it comes to kitchen equipment, this wasn't the case with Striding Edge, the kitchen had everything you could need for a perfect self catering stay, this is especially important with a toddler and baby in tow.
The lodge was spacious with good sized rooms. The extra little touches like games, colouring and books meant that our daughter always had something to do.
The location was great as a base for exploring the Lake District but with a decent swimming pool, gym and park we weren't short of things to do if we stayed 'home' for the day.
All in all we would highly recommend this lodge and hopefully will be visiting again soon.

The accommodation was like home-from-home which is what we needed with a 14 month old baby with us. There were excellent facilities on the holiday site providing good food and drink. The swimming pool and play area is also great for keeping kids entertained!

The staff were friendly and helpful from the very start. We loved our log cabin, which was very spacious and had a lovely view from the porch. Bird feeders attracted a wonderful assortment of birds, to watch as we sat outside. We had our puppy, Lucille, with us and the balcony was great for her. There were other dog lovers there, which was fun. We used the pool, the takeaway, the shop and the bar: all good. Too wet to use the tennis or football outdoor facilities, but good to know they were there. It was a good place to explore The Lakes from and we travelled each day. Saw a fabulous production of "Great Expectations" at the Theatre on the Lake in Keswick. Explored the visitors' centre at Brokole, which is almost next door and had many things to do.
