Very spacious and comfortable cottage.. Within easy reach of town centre.

We have stayed in this house two years ago so we knew what to expect.. House is well situated and ideal for dogs with enclosed gardens and a separate kitchen for them to sleep in. Would return in future.
Mr Watt, August 2020

Lovely house! It was clean and well equipped. We had a great week!!
Mrs Bryce-murdoch, July 2020

We love this property and Aviemore, and have returned several times now.. Although it is looking a little tired now, we still felt comfortable and had every facility we needed. There is however, building work taking place adjacent to the property in the form of a very large industrial unit which, when completed, (it is an open steel structure at present) will block the view of the hills, and spoil the “rural” feel, which is a shame. As we were out walking and cycling each day, we avoided the noise disruption. I feel future guests need to be made aware of the building work.

Such a fabulous stay here.. Fully equipped, warm, comfy bed and sofas that just make you relaxxxxxx after a busy outdoor day. Our dog was relaxed and we were able to let him out safely in the enclosed garden. Definitely coming back and recommend to my family and friends.

Lovely cottage with plenty room for the four of us.. Great location just 10/15 mins walk from the town centre. It is right beside the steam railway line which we really enjoyed watching when it went past. Great quiet location with a nice garden to sit out in.

June 2019
Lovely wee house.. Very clean and nicely furnished. Shower was powerful and hot and the 2nd bathroom was an added bonus. Double bedroom is a good size and has good storage. Bunk room would be great for a couple of small children but teenage daughter was a bit too tall for the beds. Front and back gardens are an excellent size and very secure for dogs. Enjoyed sitting in the sun in the front garden during the day and at the back in the evening. Saw red squirrels and deer from the window. The steam trains running past were lovely to watch. The noise did not bother us as it was only for a minute a few times a day. Area around the house is lovely and it is only a 10 minute walk into town. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Mr Stewart, June 2019
June 2019
Very quiet location despite the train track that runs a few yards alongside the house.. This is not the main line so the trains are not constant but the old carriages are fascinating to watch. The location of the house is very deceiving with regard to the town centre and once you have got your bearings it is no more than a ten minute walk to the facilities in Aviemore.
Mr Addley, May 2019
May 2019
This is the fourth time we've stayed at Strathisla and can't fault it.. It's both clean and tidy and has every facility you could possibly need. It's a great base to explore Aviemore and the surrounding area and once again we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. So much so that we've already booked up for next year!

Once again a fantastic holiday mountain biking and walking in the Aviemore area.. The cottage is perfect for relaxing in front of the open fire after a full day out, and it’s washing machine and dishwasher make daily chores a breeze. It’s proximity to Aviemore, being a pleasant 15 minute walk is perfect for shopping and eating out. We will definitely return to this thoughtfully equipped property.

The cottage is very clean, tidy and well equipped.. An excellent base for getting out and about and for all your outdoor activities, there really is so much to do for all interests. We can recommend the walk from Sugar Bowl car park down to Loch Morlich and a journey on the steam train from Aviemore. Thank you for making our stay relaxing and enjoyable.

Ideally situated for touring this area.. Lots of lovely local walks for dog owners . Only 20 minutes walk, partly along the river side , into Aviemore. Many local amenities for self catering needs or dining out and also activities for families. Short drive to one of the most beautiful places, Glenmore forest. Only £2 to park all day. Wonderful place for dog owners and families. Highly recommend this property and area.

Strathisla is lovely, cosy cottage. An extremely well-equipped home from home. The garden is nice and we liked the steam railway running past the cottage. It's in a great location for exploring the local area on foot or further afield by car. The Broadband/wifi connection is good. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We would go back.
Mr Need
November 2017
Remote controls for tv needed new batteries as they did not really work well.. Bed was a little low to the floor which made getting in and out difficult or uncomfortable. The toothbrush holder in the bathroom had not been cleaned and the duvet was escaping from the cover as the cover could not be fastened properly.

May 2017
A peaceful weeks stay in a beautifully presented cottage. Felt like home the entire time we were there. The Strathspey rail line runs right next to the house - Fantastic if you or the kids like steam trains (But don't let the proximity put you off, there's only a few trains each week). Plenty of space for parking and an enclosed garden which is not overlooked allows for a lot of time to be spent lounging in the Scottish sun, weathet permitting. On a side note, plan petrol in advance - The petrol station in Aviemore is currently closed and the closest is 15 miles away.

Liked the general area, in easy reach of hills and forests, and only 30 odd miles from the Moray coast. The house was comfortable and in a quiet spot. It was great to see the steam train going past the house, brought back memories of our childhoods. Aviemore has good facilities within easy walking distance.

This is a cosy cottage in a great location. It has a well-equipped kitchen and the open fire gave the children lots of fun toasting marshmallows. We also enjoyed watching the steam train going past the cottage. The second toilet was very handy. This was our third stay at Strathisla and we will definitely be back again.

Great cottage located about fifteen minutes walk from the centre of Aviemore. The location is ideal for those who wish to walk into the town centre for a few drinks in the evening. The cottage is also ideally based for driving into town. The cottage itself is very well maintained and very clean and tidy. It has everything you could need for a very enjoyable week. There was more than sufficient cutlery, linen, towels and tea towels etc for every eventuality. Aviemore itself is an ideal base for visitors to the Highlands with loads of local amenities and a great base for hill climbing and country walking. The nearby Rothiemurchus estate also has lots of facilities for those who would like to try something more adventurous. I would highly recommend Strathisla to anyone.

Beautiful cottage, perfect location and pristine inside and out, large garden which is enclosed and perfect for the dogs to burn themselves out! Sun all day out front and at back of an evening. Easy walking distance to aviemore centre and to many lovely walks within the estate. No issues with the steam railway as it runs during the day time hours. Ideal cottage for families, couples, and for small pets. All in all,and considering we rent a cottage twice a year this is in the top two making it a ten from us!

An excellent location for exploring Aviemore and the Cairngorm mountains, very quiet location with the occasional steam train rolling past (Excellent!) .The cottage is very well appointed and cosy, ideal to retreat to after a hard days walking or climbing, of which we did lots of. The quality of this accommodation is absolutely faultless for either sole traveller or family. Everything has been very well thought out. Warm and cosy on those cooler days - yet cool and airy for warmer late spring/summer days. A great base to explore the Aviemore/Cairngorm/Inverness area. Will certainly recommend to friends as long as they don't want the week I would like next year!!

A really cosy, well thought out cottage in an ideal location for exploring the surrounding area. We travelled with our two young children aged 5 and 2 who loved the open fire, snuggly blankets & hot water bottles provided. The cottage had everything we needed, it was lovely & warm after a cold day on the mountains. A short walk into Aviemore and right next to the steam railway line, lovely little gardens to play in & shed for storage of ski's/sledges etc. Lots to do nearby, the bridge inn has fab food & a roaring fire, we spent many an evening playing dominos here. Nearby, Loch En Eilien is a fantastic walk for little legs we encountered rain, sun, hail & even a rainbow on our adventure round (approx 3.5 mile). I would definately reccomend Strathisla to other families, a home from home.

Great house for a Christmas break, open fire particularly welcome with the somewhat challenging weather conditions in 2013! Quiet area, easy access to Aviemore and shops if needed. This was our fourth time in Aviemore over Christmas in recent years so we knew where things were. We have stayed in this house previously and appreciate the revamp and very comfortable furnishings.

Having searched extensively for good value, dog and family friendly self-catering accommodation in the Cairngorms, we certainly came up trumps with this one! The bungalow is super-cosy. We enjoyed a roaring log fire every night after a day exploring the stunning surrounds. The house is well equipped and beautifully furnished. Reading through the visitors book, we weren't the only ones to fall for the super-comfy sofas! We have been coming to this area for years and the house is perfectly located for the local amenities and still on the doorstep of some great walks and attractions. We have 4 and 5-year-old boys so it goes without saying that seeing the steam train go past out of their bedroom window has left them wanting to come back! We cannot recommend Strathisla highly enough and will certainly be coming back again. Thanks Allison and family!
