The online pictures of the cottage did not do it justice.. Beautifully set up, furnished and well positioned. The location was perfect for a walking holiday, it was very close to a lovely pub with very friendly locals and the owner had a made a real effort to make sure it was very welcoming. When we revisit this area in the future, this cottage will be our first thought. It was a real home-from-home.

I booked this lovely cosy cottage for my husband and I to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in November 2018.. It ticked all of my boxes and expectations. The cottage had everything that we needed and the owners were so helpful and accommodating in ensuring we had a lovely time. A welcome hamper was left for us with a bottle of wine, very thoughtful. We were so close to Loch Ness, Fort William and we had a lovely relaxing time in the cottage as well as seeing all the sights. It was out of season when we went but we actually preferred that as it wasn’t busy with tourists so we could leisurely travel and view the areas and a plus the weather was sunny with a chill in the air. The only very small negative was that the drive is at the back of the house and if you have a big car (which we do a large 4 x 4) then you could struggle to get it in the space, however the neighbour in the corner was lovely and said that we could park our car on his driveway each night, I mean how generous is that. Lovely cosy cottage, lovely owners, beautiful inside and out and exceptionally lovely, helpful neighbours. I would highly recommend hiring this cottage if you just want to get away and see the Scottish Highlands and of course Nessie :)

All the little things that Hester has in place, is absolutely tremendous, welcome pack.. Lovely flowers, walking suggestions and all the home from home comforts. Plenty games, books and DVDs. Feels like home the minute you walk through the door. Loch Ness inn 2 min walk excellent pub and great food in the restaurant. Cafe 82 just a few mins walk if you fancy a coffee, service in both excellent. Fiddlers restaurant excellent also. Will definitely be back to Stonywood

The cottage was great.. The owners had left lots of goodies for all including the dog. Everything we wanted was there and more. Great location for a short walk to the local shop. Shame the local inn did not allow dogs in. Great walks very close. We had a lovely holidays day but did not see Nessie!

This is a lovely cottage, very well equipped with all the comforts of home.. Everything is top quality with no expense spared. Hester, the owner, is very helpful and she left a welcome pack of wine, milk, oatcakes, biscuits and sweets. This was in addition to tea, coffee and everyday basic necessities such as cooking oil, salt and washing-up liquid; all very useful and often overlooked. The location of the cottage is ideal, a welcoming pub literally a stone's throw away and a short walk to a well stocked mini supermarket and a rather good fish and chip shop. There are many lovely woodland, mountain and lochside walks nearby and it is only a short drive into Inverness, which has all the facilities you would expect of a major centre of population; a very pretty city too. I shall definitely make the 9 hour drive back to Stoneywood Cottage for another holiday soon.

Had a fab week in this lovely cottage.. The extras for the humans and dogs was a lovely thought. We have stayed in this area for the last 10 years, but not in a self catering cottage, one of the best holidays. Will defineatly book again.
