The proximity to the sites we wanted to visit was perfect! While we enjoyed playing tourist during the day we appreciated returning home each evening. The cottage is just lovely , well kitted out and well maintained! The bathrooms and the kitchen were very user friendly! Waking up to the sounds of birds and the rushing water in the stream each morning was delightful. We made a last minute booking and the owners were more than accommodating!

We liked everything! The beds were extremely comfortable, as were the sofas, and a good selection of books meant we weren't short of bedtime reading either! If we'd had longer, we would no doubt have enjoyed a few of the DVDs there too. We were really happy with the cottage, inside and out. The secure garden areas were a real plus as well. A lot of thought has clearly gone into making this a really cosy, comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.

A warm and friendly welcome with a Christmas Tree all lit up, fairy lights on the stairs and the heating on for us. Beautifully appointed cottage, had everything we could ever have needed and more. Absolutely loved the cottage. Cute area too and not too far from the coast and nice walks.

Star Mill cottage provided the perfect base for our half term break in Wales. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and may have the best equipt kitchen of any rental we have ever stayed in. The woodburner was a big hit with husband, son and dog!! The beds were really comfortable, if only the children had let us stay in it longer. All in all a wonderful holiday

We returned again to Star Mill cottage for another visit. It was as usual very clean and comfortable. The owners seem to have thought of everything to provide for us to make our stay as easy as possible. The cottage is a good base to explore the beautiful area of Pembrokeshire. The kitchen was spotless and well equipped so no problem cooking meals there. We will definitely return again next year as we love the peace and quiet there.

Absolutely brilliant. This is my 2nd stay in this beautiful cottage. Cant wait to go back in November. .Upon arrival we had fresh eggs, chocolate brownies and of course a bottle of wine.Has a lovely stream down the side where you can sit and relax, eat your meals etc etc. Weather topped it off as it was lovely and sunny. Nice clean and bright cottage, home from home. Roll on Novemer for my next visit.

My husband and I (and two dogs) had a really lovely week at Star Mill Cottage, equipped with everything you could possibly need , comfortable lounging and beds and an effective and atmospheric wood burner. Our welcome gifts of red wine and brownies (to die for ) were such a lovely touch and very welcome on our first night. We had never visited that part of Wales before and found some lovely walks and places of interest "The Golden Road " an ancient trading route is a must and only 6 miles up the road, has the most amazing views. You can't go wrong staying here and we highly recommend it. Thank you so much Lucy and Bob we will be back xx

A comfortable and cosy well equipped cottage. All our needs were catered for. It is a perfect base for exploring this part of West Wales. Lovely beaches much appreciated by our greyhound George. The weather was cold with rain, sleet and snow but lots of dog-friendly pubs to visit and it did not spoil our stay. Lovers of history will appreciate huge number of castles. Would recommend Star Mill Cottage and we hope to return.

This will be our third trip to Star Mill Cottage with our young son and will definately return in the future. Set in the quiet town of Star - this cottage provides excellent location for a quiet peaceful break, beautiful log burner to relax and read a book, full wifi facilities with plenty of books, dvds and games to choose from their extensive library plus Smart TV for all your NETFLIX needs, a wonderful welcome to the cottage with chocolates and a bottle of wine, a truly lovely gesture. Cant recommend this cottage enough, the owners very friendly and accommodating. Our stay was for 4 evenings, so we managed to visit Cardigan, Cilgerran Castle, Carmarthern and also the local town nearby for coffee and a cake, so plenty to do if you want to get out and about.

WHAT AN AMAZING COTTAGE. We have had just the best time here this past week and can honestly say we are truly sad to be leaving, our children especially. They have settled in so well and have slept beautifully every night which is unusual for them in unfamiliar surroundings. Every need was catered for, and much much more. On arrival we were greeted by the wonderful smell of the log fire. The whole place was beautifully clean and the owners even left a bottle of wine and choccys for our arrival which was such a lovely personal touch. Bob the owner phoned us a couple of hours after we landed to make sure all was to our satisfaction, which it truly was!! The beds are honestly the comfiest beds IN THE WORLD!! Never slept so well. There is plenty to see if you travel by car, highly recommend Poppit Sands and Cardigan Bay, lots of shops and places to eat. Manor Hall Farm was a great day out especially for children. We had a problem with our exhaust and the local garage (Garej Wyn) fitted us in that very day which was fantastic so must recommend them for anyone else in a similar position. My brother who stayed with us also had a more serious problem with his car and they fixed his at the drop of a hat also. Brilliant guys down there! Star is a picturesque place to stay and the locals seem dead friendly. There's very little traffic going by and the sound of the stream flowing by is so soothing (I think the noise helped my children sleep to be honest.) There are lots of birds feeding in the garden which is also very relaxing to watch, the kids enjoyed topping up the bird feeders in "The Jungle" as they called the garden. I could go on and on about this cottage but I won't bore everybody, in a nutshell we highly recommend this beautiful building to anyone looking for a long/short family/couples holiday/break away. Its gorgeous. In and out! We wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend to friends and family. We will take some lovely memories home with us.

A very well equipped cottage in a quiet location. Comfortable and warm on chilly days. A real home from home. Love the stream outside the back door. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with some lovely walks nearby including woods, hills, beaches and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. It is within easy reach of some pretty villages and small towns and most things can be bought in Cardigan. Highly recommended.

Have recently spent an idyllic week staying at Star Mill Cottage. It is set in a beautiful part of West Wales, within easy driving distance of lots of wonderful, dog friendly beaches and interesting towns and villages. The owners have created a wonderful holiday home decorated and finished to a high standard with extra details that just make it even more special. They really have thought of everything. We especially loved sitting by the log burner relaxing and chatting in the evening after a busy day out and about.Would highly recommend this cottage and we hope to return for another visit next year.

The cottage was exactly as described and I was so pleased with my stay. Set in a peaceful village with fantastic countryside around you, perfect for dog walkers, those who enjoy the outdoors or anyone who wants to just 'get away' and relax. There are quaint villages and busier towns all close by it is the perfect 'base' to go off on day trips, explore all the local beaches and there is a lot of stunning coastline to chose from! There is a local shop up the road for supplies! and further along another well stocked local shop for any extras however I found the cottage was thoughtfully planned out and lots of things are provided for you. Cannot find one negative to comment on for condition of property, everything worked as it should, enjoyed the wood burner in the evenings, wifi connection was brilliant during my stay, and although I didn't find time to play on them the games consoles with a nice selection of games offered something to do for the kids or in our case 'big kids' that may holiday there, a nice selection of films, board games and interesting books also available to use. Tidy and very Clean condition throughout the property. All communication with owners was polite, friendly and helpful and they leave a very handy welcome pack to answer most common questions. The parking was good we took a car and a jeep and we had no concerns with parking outside the house on a lovely quiet road without worrying. We also had our dog with us, who is a large breed and she settled into the cottage well, the garden was very convenient as well as being pretty and there is a handy gate separating another outside area with a beautiful stream so we could relax knowing the dog is safe/secure outside while we relaxed on the lovely big sofas! I was very impressed by the end of my holiday and extremely happy with the cost and ease of renting such a perfect little retreat for a week. Would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants a break. Thank you very much and look forward to staying again in the near future. :)

This cottage was exactly what we wanted. Perfectly located in central Pembrokeshire, we were able to enjoy day trips out to the picturesque coastal towns, then feel right at home in the evenings, soak in the deep bath, cook up a meal in the spotless kitchen and then settle down by the fire. The whole break was so relaxing, and the cottage had an immediate impact and welcoming feel. We didn't want to leave the super-comfy beds each morning! Couldn't fault the cleanliness, and there was everything we needed in place upon arrival. When can we go back?!

We highly recommend Star Mill Cottage. It's a very cosy cottage with everything you need plus more. Our two year old son settled in very quickly, the beds were very comfortable, and the log burner just finished it off for us. People in the village are also very friendly. lots to do for children and adults in a 20 mile radius, beaches are well worth a visit too! If we come back to Wales we will definitely be staying at Star Mill Again.

Just returned from a lovely week at this cottage. The facilities are well thought out, clean and there are many added extras that made our stay even more enjoyable. Kitchen has everything you could think of and the bed was really comfy. In the evening we relaxed and enjoyed watching some of the dvd's that are provided and if you have time there are also many games and books. We loved watching the different types of birds in the garden feeding at the food station and there is even an ample store of seed etc for you to replenish the feeders! We made good use of the many leaflets there, about the surrounding area to plan our days out. All in all a brilliant week and we will definitely return next year to this cottage!

The perfect place for alfresco dining, dog walks and meeting the neighbours! Lovely cottage with more amenities than initially anticipated - very tastefully done and a lovely home away from home. Excellent for accessing the local areas and just the perfect getaway. Thank you.

July 2013
Just back from a 5 day stay at Star Mill Cottage. Arrived to find a bottle of wine and bag of choccies waiting for us - great start to a holiday. The cottage is simply wonderful - Lucy and Bob (the owners) have put so much thought into providing everything that you could need. The bathrooms are equipped with gels and soaps. The kitchen is fully loaded with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc. Thoughtful touches abound everywhere - provision of dishwasher tablets, washing up powder, birdfood for the numerous feeders in the gardens, plenty of luxurious towels, Wi-Fi connectivity, 3 TVs etc etc. The cottage is full of history and is in an idyllic setting - a perfect place to escape the rat race and rediscover yourself. This holiday meant a lot to my family as our planned holiday earlier in the year had to be cancelled following the death of my mother and this was the first opportunity that we had to take leave of dealing with her estate. I am so glad that we chose Star Mill Cottage - we had a wonderful week exploring amazing places and coming back each night to our home-from-home. Words can't describe how much this holiday meant to my family and I can't recommend Star Mill Cottage highly enough. Deserves to be booked every night of the year.

Just got back from the beautiful Star Mill Cottage. The cottage is very welcoming and cosy. It is well equipped with all the essentials you need for your stay, plus a lot of added extras such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, sauces and condiments, and lots more. There was even a bottle of wine and chocolates on our arrival (nice touch, thank you lucy & Bob). It was just so nice being able to go somewhere and not having to go out and buy all these little things that add up to a lot. The bed was so comfy I didn't want to get out of it but there is so much to see and do that you just have to. We thought this place was amazing and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for a lovely weekend Lucy & Bob.

Arriving late on a miserable wet Friday evening a week or 2 before Christmas feeling thoroughly fed up after getting lost (thanks to Sat Nav) and a speeding ticket (thanks to bad driving) we arrived at Star Mill Cottage to have our moods lifted entirely. The cottage was lit up by two Christmas trees and fairy lights all up the stairs, it was warm and cosy, nicely decorated and the perfect antidote to a miserable journey. We absolutely loved our time at Star Mill Cottage and spent much of our holiday enjoying what the cottage had to offer, including nights curled up with a book in front of the wood burner or making use of the internet enabled TV. We had indulgent baths in the gorgeous roll top bath and baked cakes in the oven. Star is a tiny hamlet with lovely walks near by and it's only a 10 mile trip to Cardigan and Poppit Sands. Can't praise this place enough really. We were so pleased and had a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful week in Star Mill Cottage. Coming from the West Midlands we aren't used to being so isolated but we soon got used to the peace and quiet. Our dogs loved walking along the country lanes. Neighbours were very friendly - including the horses and cows!

The owners really make an effort to ensure you have everything you need in this home from home. I received a courtesy call the day before I arrived & the owner's husband rings on the evening of your arrival. They're super-friendly, helpful & have thought of everything. The cottage is lovely, kitted out with a freestanding roll top bath upstairs & a walk in shower downstairs (none of this shower head over bath business). One shower head is standard size, the other is a huge, waterfall type "stand under and wash all your cares away" cascade of loveliness. The bed in the main bedroom is one you won't want to jump out of. It's so comfy & warm. The kitchen has all mod cons - dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, induction hob and, like the bathrooms, are kitted out to a very high standard. Arrived to a bottle of white wine and chocolates, tea, coffee, fresh milk, with doggy treats, poo bags & dog towels for the mutts. Really thoughtful. First impressions was that the house was dark, but wait a little while & the sun shines into the front of the cottage, warming your back & making you sigh, just a little, as a "This is bliss" feeling spreads throughout your body, satisfying your soul. The neighbours are helpful - I called upon them for assistance with a trailer, they got the chap up the road involved & I was reassured by their offer of further help if I needed anything else. Lots of tv channels to keep the kids occupied. There's no mobile phone reception, so the owners have kindly left a landline connected for local calls. You get automated messages from Welsh Water if there's disruption or discolouration to the water supply. It's a beautiful property, spotlessly clean, thanks to housekeeper, Sandra. The stream that flows by the rear of the cottage offers a meditative/tranquil ambience; when you're in the kitchen open the stable door, let the dogs out & the fresh air in! Parking is directly in front of the cottage. It's a quiet road, just leave space for the tractor that goes up & down the hill. Lots of great places to visit, including Poppitt Sands, dolphin spotting boat rides & The Nag's Head pub for amazing restaurant standard food. We'll certainly be returning.

This was our second time of visiting Star Mill Cottage, a very charming cottage with everything you could think of at hand, lovely peaceful surroundings, the ideal place to get away to relax and unwind, lots of places to visit, beautiful beaches. Looking forward to our next visit soon. Lovely owners and very helpful.

October 2017
The cottage itself is ok.....we found it to be very dusty and a little unclean on arrival. Miles from any main roads so don't expect a quick journey to anywhere! Well equipped but has to clean quite a lot of plates and pans etc before we used any of them. We know it's a cottage in the country bit there were cobwebs and dead spiders everywhere which hasn't been there just a few days or weeks if you know what I mean. The owners are lovely and very helpful ...i just think they need to get on top of their cleaner. Couch in tv lounge area is awful.....so uncomfortable that it was hard work to relax of an evening. Last thing to mention is that all the duvets and most of the pillows are feather which set off my sons allergy (unless it was the dust)...so we had to come home 3 days early. If you are looking for a retreat in the middle of nowhere and not looking for a luxury cottage then this is fine.

The cottage itself is charming but absolutely filthy. Plates with food on in the cupboards. Utensils and kitchen were thick with grease and grime. We had to spend half a day cleaning and put some things in the out building because we couldn't stand to have them in the cottage with us. There wasn't a surface that I felt confident to touch without disinfecting first. So disappointing considering we came here to relax. The cottage is stunning, but so dirty, I would not recommend. What a shame.

I know you can't do much about the location of a cottage in respect of sunshine etc but the location of this cottage in relation to it's surroundings is not shown in the photos. The cottage was very dark inside and you couldn't have the curtains fully open because the people in the holiday cottage opposite could see right in. The second and third bedroom and upstairs bathroom are accessed through the main bedroom and you are expected to place a screen at the end of your bed to get some privacy. Not good. The upstairs bathroom ceiling slopes so low that you bang your head every time to use the toilet. The cleaning is also not very thorough. There were cobwebs everywhere. The whole cottage needs a really good clean, the fridge , cooker , bathroom and door handles on the kitchen cupboard doors, the windows. The only good thing about the cottage was the comfy bed and level of equipment. The garden/courtyard had loads of weeds, around the approach to the front of the cottages all weedy and neglected. It became just somewhere to sleep rather than a home from home experience. We loved South Wales though , the area is beautiful and there is lots to see and do.

Lovely clean and comfortable cottage in a quiet hamlet but near to pubs and beaches.. So restful sitting next to the stream listening to all the birds. The owners' kindly provided a starter pack of milk, fresh eggs, brownies, wine and doggie treats. There was also a well equipped kitchen with tea, coffee and sugar to start the stay off. One of the houses had an honesty box where you could buy a box of half dozen fresh eggs for a £1 and they were the best eggs ever had for breakfast. The shower was brilliant and the bath was a real decadent experience, due to the high water pressure a little bit of bubble bath went a long way, only thing I didn't think of was a glass of bubbly! Won't forget next time. It was a lovely touch that the owner's rang on the Sat to check if everything was okay. As they had left full instructions on how everything worked luckily I didn't need to bother them. Would certainly go back and would highly recommend if you want a nice peaceful place to stay but near to everything you need to enjoy the holiday.

Everything was perfect! The cottage was beautiful very well appointed and extremely comfortable. We loved exploring the local area and found lots to do. I can highly recommend the Ferry Inn at St Dogmeals as the food was very good and they welcomed dogs. The little touches left by the owners of the cottage were very much appreciated we had wine and chocolates and treats for our dog. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage. Thank you

Having read the rave reviews we were disappointed, cottage is extremely dark , densely populated with furniture ( eg.. abundance of seating considering it is only for six people maximum) Main bedroom lacks privacy if more than 2 adults staying we did not have issue with this as there was only 2 of us. Bed extremely uncomfortable and overcrowded with furniture. The upstairs toilet facilities make it difficult for a male to address due to sloping ceiling and beams. Parking for a larger car is difficult. On the positive side the down stairs shower room was very good and kitchen well equipped. The location is good.
