Welford-on-Avon is a lovely conservation community nestled on the banks of the River Avon in the magnificent Warwickshire countryside. Welford has three village pubs, including the award-winning Bell Inn, which voted the finest dining pub in Warwickshire in 2016. Welford is around 5 miles from Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon. Welford also features a general store, a butcher's, a children's play area, one of England's tallest maypoles, numerous thatched houses, and a prominent golf course. With The Greenway, Shakespeare Way, and the Heart of England Way all close by, this area offers many excellent walks and biking paths. Stratford-upon-Avon is a major tourist destination that is home to the famous Royal Shakespeare Company and several fascinating properties associated with Shakespeare's family that are open all year and have 16th century furniture as well as magnificent grounds and gardens. River cruises, rowing, motorboat rides, and fishing are just a few of the activities available on the River Avon. Visit the area's several National Trust sites, Warwick Castle, and the unspoiled Cotswold villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Mickleton, and Moreton-in-Marsh.
