Area Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
Region Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

The cottage/appt had a very grubby feel.
The overall cleanliness was very poor with long hairs on carpets etc. There was damp in the shower room, the seat coverings & soft furnishings were all either very dirty or in the case of the dining furniture the coverings were falling to pieces. In general it felt like the cottage was well over due a deep clean and refurb.
The furniture (sofa and beds etc) is all rather uncomfortable with the very thin lumpy mattresses being a particular issue.
Despite the above we tried to make the most of our stay.
However, we did mistakenly leave an expensive clothing item behind on the back of the bedroom door. This is easy to miss if you don't close the door from the inside (i.e. when you pack up & leave) but very obvious if you do. i.e. should be obvious to either the cleaner (if they close the door to hoover!) or the next guest. Anyway the item has not been found or returned so either the cleaner now has it or the next gest does. Either way Sykes & C&CC were very unhelpful & sarcastic when contacted to look for the item. I will not be staying at this property (which is a pity as the views are great) or booking with Sykes or Coast and Country Cottages again.

What a lovely place to stay. So quirky as an upside down house ! We visited in August as a family of 4. The views over Dartmouth harbour were lovely, day & night. The little veranda was such a lovely addition for drinks and dinner.
The location was brilliant, a stones throw from the Dartmouth arms pub which did great takeaway pizzas which we ate on the quay side, and also the fish & chip shop which was also lovely. Kids found it exciting to walk down the steps into the old fort each day.
The kitchen was well equipped and there was a tv with smart hub and free WiFi.
We always managed to get a car-parking spot outside, which was handy, as long as you got there after 4 you could leave the car until 11am. We also were given a parking permit for the main car park by the harbour too.
It was a charming place to stay. I would recommend it.
