Spiral Cottage Self-Catering

Holiday home
Spiral Cottage is a mid-terraced cottage in the hamlet of Ickornshaw near Cowling in the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage sleeps up to three people in one double bedroom. There is also a bathroom, a lower ground floor kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a double sofa bed and a woodburning stove. Outside there is ample roadside parking and a lawned garden with a patio, furniture and a brook running through. Spiral Cottage has fantastic walking opportunities from the door and would make an ideal romantic retreat.

Area
The ancient village of Cowling sits across a hillside in the Pennine Hills, just seven miles from the market town of Skipton. A thriving village, built along a main high street with stone-built, terraced houses set alongside the mills of a bygone age. The village was once sparsely populated, the bulk of the population living in Ickornshaw and Middleton, and before that on Cowling Hill, close to water sources they depended on, and the main roads of the day - now used as back roads by locals to avoid the modern day traffic.

Region
From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Amenities
Gas central heating with woodburning stove. Electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, TV with basic Sky, WiFi. Fuel, power and starter pack for stove inc. in rent. Further fuel for stove on honesty box basis. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Ample roadside parking. Lawned garden with patio and furniture. One well-behaved pet welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Such a fabulous location, Such a lovely welcome from David. It was so relaxing sitting in the garden watching the antics of the chickens and ducks, reading my book with a glass of wine, my idea of a perfect afternoon. Can't wait to visit again in the very near future.

What a beautiful cottage, so peaceful and relaxing.. David was there to welcome me and very informative about the area. Lovely to sit in the garden and watch the chickens and ducks. A perfect place after exploring the area to be with a book and glass of wine with the sound of the brook rippling by. Can't wait to return in the near future.

It would be good if there was a rug in the kitchen as the tiles are very cold underfoot..

We highly recommend Spiral Cottage.. It is a perfect base for people to go exploring The Yorkshire Dale's. The cottage itself is exceptionally cosy,a home from home with high levels of comfort, The added bonus was the babbling brook at the rear and enjoying breakfast with the Ducks and Chickens every morning. Hosts Bernadette and David gave us a very warm welcome ,thank you both for your wonderful hospitality.. Angie and Trevor Feb 2020.

Spiral Cottages is in an idyllic village location - very secluded and quiet.. The fixtures and fittings, and the bedlinen and towels were all of a high quality. There's lots of lovely places to visit - most within relatively short driving distance. We visited the restaurant in Cowling called Harlequin, which is within easy walking distance, on two occasions during the week, and the food was absolutely delicious both times. The owners were delightful, as were the locals who were also visiting the restaurant, and everyone took delight in recommending places for us to visit. We were lucky with the weather and were able to take advantage of sitting out of the back in the late afternoon enjoying the sunshine with a glass or two of wine accompanied by the chickens and ducks, which we found most entertaining. We would highly recommend this cottage to any couple looking for a relaxing time. Cora & Fraser James - stayed 15-22 June 2019.

Cottage is immaculate, with everything you need for a very comfortable stay.. A warm welcome, fresh flowers, delicious biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge on arrival were gratefully received. The property is in a good location to explore the Dales. A peaceful little haven to return too after a busy day sightseeing. Had an amazing week and have no hesitation in recommending. Thank you Dave and Bernadette

Lovely, homely little cottage with all the comforts of home and more. Beautifully kept with pretty little touches to make you feel welcome throughout. We were met at the property by the owner, who showed us around. We had a great week, even though the weather wasn't the best but knowing that we could go back and relax in comfort was wonderful.

We spent a week at this cottage in June 2016. We were met by the owners who were very helpful and live locally. The property is very cosy and has an excellent wood burning stove if it is cold. The patio area overlooks a small beck and is opposite a duck farm which has provided a lot of fun following the young chicks running up and down. There is a well appointed kitchen with everything you might need and we have slept really well in the comfortable double bed. There are many walks locally and the cottage is very close to the Pennine way. The Settle Carlisle railway can be accessed from Skipton. There is stunning scenery all around and the Bronte' s home in Haworth is a short drive away. This is a great place to stay in this area.

What a lovely cottage and setting. Everything was spotless and the flowers were lovely. It is in a great setting and if you like walking, you will find lots. We loved watching the ducks out the back. The local bus service was good, and there were nice places nearby to visit. One of the best cottages we have stayed in.
