The cottage is in a remote location, 6 miles along a narrow, winding single lane road with passing points.. A nice touch would have been to have some basics - especially milk, available as most other places I have stayed have done. After travelling over 3 hours then unloading the car, we didn’t feel like going back out for milk. Given the remote location, I was very surprised at the amount of local traffic. There is a pub next door and a camp site half a mile up the road, so that would explain it. The house itself could do with updating. There are two bathrooms with shower above the baths. My husband is less than six feet tall, but he was still too tall to shower comfortably. A nice big shower could easily be put in rather than having two baths. The owners were really nice and helpful, and exchanged a sky box that wasn’t working. I really liked having the living room upstairs which takes advantage of the lovely views, however the floorboards are very noisy which is awkward if anyone is trying to sleep downstairs. A great place to stay as long as you are aware of the points mentioned above, none of which spoilt our holiday! The bakery in Broughton-in-Furness is well worth a visit.
