Whitby is just a short drive away, and was made famous by its links to Bram Stokers ’Dracula’, and the haunting Abbey standing over this bustling fishing town. Keep an eye out for the many events and festivals that take place throughout the year such as the Goth Weekender, Steam Punk Festival and the Whitby Regatta, just to name a few. The area is a beach lovers paradise, with miles of golden sands and bays hidden all along this stunning coastline, such as Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay. Perfect for nature lovers, take a walk on the Cleveland Way, or head inland to explore the hundreds of designated walking routes through the National Park. Comprising over 1,400 miles of natural beauty, this enchanting region is home to heather moorland, pine forests and rolling hills, not to mention badgers, deer and hawks. Look closer and you’ll discover historic abbeys, castles, priories, traditional pubs and ’hidden’ villages and hamlets. Take to the trees on a rope swing in Dalby Forest, or hire a bike and explore a landscape of ruins, legends and endless horizons. For something different why not take the steam train from Whitby right into ’Heartbeat country’, or take a drive through some of the countries most amazing scenery. Beach ¼ mile. Shop 2 miles, 1 mile on foot, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
