Betws-Y-Coed is known as the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia'. However, there is evidence of early Neolithic settlements and it is possible to explore the Neolithic Burial Chamber at Capel Garmon. In fact, the immediate vicinity has been home to the Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Celts and evidence of their tribes, villages and fortresses are to be found throughout the region. The village itself is well served by outdoor activity shops and you can sample traditional Welsh fare such as Welsh rarebit, Glamorgan sausages and bara brith in the inns and pubs that feed walkers and visitors throughout the calendar.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

There was everything we needed in the cottage.. Due to Covid, we had to prepare dinner at the cottage on a few evenings. There was a great fridge freezer, clean cooker and a microwave - perfect. The cottage is situated very close to the centre of the village and Kathy, the owner was very friendly and welcoming.

This cottage is perfectly located in the centre of beautiful Betws-y-coed.. Very tidy and equipped with everything you need e.g microwave, fridge, hairdryer etc. A very comfortable bed and a good shower too. Kathy (host) welcomed me and showed me around and left me a lovely cream tea, which was very much appreciated after my long journey. Easy drive to Yr Wyddfa and within close proximity of many, many great walks with scenery to take your breath away. I cannot recommend this place enough. I had a great stay! Perfect cottage, perfect location....

Spent a very comfortable week in this lovely little cottage just a few minutes walk from the centre of Betws-y-coed. Scones and cream on arrival, along with all the necessary starter ingredients for the larder set the scene; subsequent exploration revealed every requirement for the household was ready to hand. Everything was as advertised and more. All-in-all a most enjoyable stay.

Such a wonderful cottage, with excellent facilities, in a superb location. Previous reviewers have said it all before but the location is perfect for a quiet and 'get away from it all' holiday yet a short walk into the village for great pubs, restaurants, coffee bars etc. Royal Oak Cottage provided us with an excellent base for exploring the beautiful area of Snowdonia. The property was presented well with 'extras'. The cream tea and bottle of 'New Year Bubbly' was a very kind and thoughtful touch from the owners. A comfy bed (always a tester when renting a holiday cottage!) with quality bedding and décor throughout. Overall one of the best rented properties we have stayed in. We will definitely return and shall thoroughly recommend this peace haven to others!

The owners are most welcoming and efficient, nothing being too much trouble. An added bonus is private, secluded parking in a busy village. Easy connectable wi-fi. We cannot recommend this charming cottage highly enough.

Royal Oak Farm Cottage is all anyone could want in a vacation rental---clean, well furnished and maintained, convenient location. Wife & I stayed for two weeks and loved every minute. One of the walks leading to local scenic vistas ran past the front gate, others started only yards away. Restaurants and shops were within five minutes walk. Hosts were friendly but not at all intrusive. The train station is within 100 yards and the bus stop is adjacent to the train station. Village is busy during the day but very quiet at night so no problems with noise. We have rented vacation property from Hawaii to Europe and Royal Oak Farm Cottage is among the top five percent in quality and value.

Delightful cottage, well equipped. The owners were available to give advice on where to go when needed. Location in Betwsy is perfect as you feel tucked away next to the river and down a private road but is a minutes walk to shops restuarants etc. Some delightful low level walks you can do from the cottage include the miners bridge, and fairy glen. This little cottage for 2 was perfect for our Xmas week of walking the hills and exploring the coast. It was very cosy, well heated, well appointed and quiet, yet located in the very middle of Betws y Coed. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and the welcoming 'pack' of wine and cake was delightful. Good parking, access to shops, restaurants etc made it a superb location. We actually ate in every night and found in the kitchen area everything we needed for cooking a Xmas meal! All in all, we could not fault it - and it was even very good value!
