Clean, well presented and well equipped cottage.. A lovely place for a well deserved break away.

This is a very nice, well equipped and comfortable cottage.. At this time of the year (early January) it was quiet. It is handy for the beach and a c.10 minute walk along to the station on the steam railway line, plus easy access to walks along the coast. The two cafes and the local pub/restaurant (The Smugglers Inn) are within easy walking distance. Well equipped kitchen. Nice feel to the place.

Future customers need to be aware that there are hard stone steps between the kitchen and the dining room which anyone with even mild mobility issues would find difficult to deal with.. We would also put in an appeal for decent sized bath towels. Apart from those two minor moans we would thoroughly recommend Rose Cottage.

You must have a warning about the stairs down to the lounge and the stairs up to the bedrooms as they are all very steep.. Two rails up to the bedrooms and some sort of rough surface for the tiles on the other stairs. It would have been helpful to have more recycling information. We noticed other houses had different bins for the various categories. Most impressed with the cooking pots and pans and the serving dishes. We used most of them.

Key safe was difficult to open.. Floor tiles in kitchen and particularly leading up to dining area could be quite slippery. Tin opener didn't work. Signs of damp at top of the stairs. Mirror on the wall opposite car parking area would be useful. But good base for the area and the beach, in spite of limited access due to erosion of cliffs. Nice meals at Driftwood café and Blue Anchor pub - Blue Anchor pub closing down this week due to erosion.

On previous self catering holidays with other companies, we have had to chase up information such as directions, key codes etc.. Sykes emailed all relevant info as soon as our payment had gone through and again closer to our holiday, they kept us informed all the way, very impressed with the service

It was a very nicely kept cottage.. Just a few minor niggles, like no DVD player as listed, can opener didn't work (lots of comments about that in the visitor book), and not enough toilet roll supplied even for a few days. Nice cottage, very quiet pretty location. Was fine for short stay but worth noting that stairs to every room might not suit everyone. Good base for steam railway and exploring. Lynton and Lynmouth worth a visit. Very unusual to find lots of free car parking in the area in August.

The cottage was situated in a perfect place as it was near to the sea front and it was great that the train station was in walking distance, would not recommend Blue Anchor for families with children as there isn't anything for them to do, but anyone looking for a quiet holiday this is the place,we all loved it, and there are plenty of places to visit

The garden in this cottage is not entirely dog friendly and needs some work to make it as described.. The stairs are quite steep and I do think it should be mentioned in the listing as it may not be suitable for those with mobility problems/the elderly.

This is an expensive property which we took on the basis of it being next to the beach.. As it happens the access to the beach has been closed off due to erosion so whilst we got the sea views we didn't get to walk the dog on the beach which was a disappointment. The closure has been in place for an extended period of time so this should be indicated in the listing. Also the lack of wifi is almost unforgivable in this day and age. Duvets and pillows are not of a quality we would expect, towels small. Other than that a charming and beautifully located cottage, very clean and well presented with all the mod cons you would want. The terraced garden above and behind the property would be great in summer with fine views and privacy.

Rose Cottage was very clean, comfortable and extremely warm and cosy.. Such a perfect location just 2 minutes from the beach. Not sure the photographs or description do it justice.

Just returned from Rose Cottage, went with our daughter and 3 year old grandson. A home from home as soon as you walked in. Very well equipped cottage, and the location is perfect. Our grandson loved the short walk to the beach to throw stones and to build a sandcastles. Minehead, Dunster Castle and village which is worth a visit. Also Lynmouth and Lynton over the moors which was covered in purple heather. I would recommend staying at this cottage for people who want to feel home from home.

The cottage and its facilities were lovely.. We had a very restful and enjoyable holiday in an area of the UK we had not visited before.

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed, as well as close proximity to the beach and a view of the sea from the garden.
