The area is also recognised as the ideal location for touring West Cork generally but in particular for its proximity (4.5) miles from Skibbereen) to Lough Hyne, Irelands first Nature Reserve, a beautiful inland sea lake unique in Northern Europe where you can swim, kayak or go walking safely on the roads or on forest paths to the top of Knockomagh from where you have spectacular views of West Cork coastline from Old Head of Kinsale to the Fastnet and beyond and to the Kerry mountains.
