Set amongst the grounds of an attractive farm, located just a ten minute drive (approximately) from the popular market town of Hexham and only a 25 minute drive from the vibrant city of Newcastle, this well equipped small studio, on the outskirts of Riding Mill village, is the perfect spot for a country break. It is located near a number of Dark Sky Discovery sites, so ensure you pack warm clothing and binoculars for a star gazing experience. On a clear night, you can see thousands of stars, recognise constellations such as Orion and maybe even see the International Space Station as it orbits the earth. Just a short drive away, you ll find historic Corbridge, once known as Corstopitum, a Roman garrison town by Hadrian s Wall with a crossing over the River Tyne. These days, it s home to beautiful independent shops, and the annual Corbridge Festival, celebrating music and street theatre. Head to Hexham to experience the area s Viking history, with its ancient Abbey and atmospheric gaol the earliest British prison. Visit Vindolanda, a Roman settlement which is the most extensive site to be seen along Hadrian s Wall. Other attractions in the area include Housesteads Fort which offers plenty of scenic walks or Hareshaw Linn waterfall in Northumberland National Park.
