This is an excellent cottage for people who like to be out in the countryside.. Good place for accessing walking, water sports and cycling. A bit of a drive to get to places but nothing that would stop us from going here again. Very friendly owners.

The property advertised was not as listed with fixtures and facilities not available such as no patio & garden, WiFi so weak it couldn’t be used & any rubbish had to be personally disposed of miles away.. Messages dated four years ago had been left listing failures.

Very cosy and the owner had left milk bread butter eggs and a bottle of wine! Very unexpected and much appreciated.

Whilst the property was very good, well kept and well stocked, for a Disabled person, such as myself it was a little difficult to access the stairs that were steep and rounded a corner.. I did manage but do think this needs to be mentioned in the facilities so that people are aware. The road to the cottage is a driveway for the farm and is very steep with cravel path, this is quite slippery in wet weather. Whilst we were there we got a slug problem in the property which we think happened when the owners provided some wood for the log burner, they did get it cleared up straight away but never the less, it was unpleasant and I ended up having to wash with cleaner where the slugs had been as they carry Lime disease. There was no back garden due to weather conditions the owners had been unable to create one. Apart from these points, our stay was great and very peaceful.

Just as suggestions for future guests:Would have been nice if we didn’t have to ask for basics like toilet paper & dishwashing tablets.. Most places provide simple things like salt & pepper & as we were staying 8 nights, 2 towels per guest would have been good. Main bath fan did not work. Overall it was very comfortable and we were very grateful for food provides for us on arrival by our friendly hosts. Although dogs barking interfered with sleeping.

This was our second stay in the cottage.. It's on a working farm so this time lambing and calving were underway. There are plenty of things to do in the area providing you are prepared to drive. We cycled around Lake Vyrnwy (twice), went mountain biking at Coed y Brenin, used the pool at the local school and found a football pitch nearby. The cottage is well equipped and surprisingly spacious. The owners also provided us with arrival treats which is a really lovely touch and were very helpful in giving recommendations for places to eat at and explore. I suspect we'll be booking to stay there again!

Beautiful countryside, very comfortable cottage, Owners were very friendly and welcoming and did everything they could to ensure we enjoyed our holidays including delicious goodies on arrival and rescuing our girls when they managed to lock themselves in their room! would definitely visit again.

Wonderfully comfortable cottage off the beaten track, so if you like peace and quiet this is for you.. The hosts are next door so if there are any concerns they are there to help. Really recommend this place for a base camp for mid and north Wales.

A working farm which gave my grandson an insight into how hard Bethan and her family work.. Some places are a drive from the cottage but like us, if you like empty roads and stunning scenery, it is spot on. The living room sofa is so comfy it is dangerous. I had an armchair like it once that forced me to drink whilst sitting on it. recommend the sofa. Thanks to Bethan for the milk.

Rhiwlas is set within a tranquil and historic rural location.. We found the cottage to be well equipped and comfortable. The hosts, Bethan and Peter were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. In total we spent a wonderful 6 days/nights here enjoying the local countryside and lake area. Look forward to returning!

Unfortunately when we pulled up to the cottage the outside was dirty, quite a lot of bird mess on windows and outside bench. Entering the cottage it was clear no one had stayed there for a long time, lots of cobwebs in every room even over the kitchen utensils, I cleaned most of it myself. Lights in kitchen and main bathroom very dim. Dishwasher broke on second day and not repaired. As for the garden- it was a nice space but yet again furniture was covered in bird muck which was frustrating, if you have paying guests and your spec says garden furniture surely you would clean it??!!

We spent a lot of money for a 5-day stay. However, upon entry we were hit by a musty smell that smelt like wet dog and it never went away. The bedrooms are fine (the bath and shower are very good) but the ground floor needs a good scrub and repainting. We had to wash everything that came out of the cupboards because of grease and food marks and I suspect the previous renters washed utensils without washing-up liquid. However, this could have been checked. There was also no real garden out the back, which wasn't an issue when we were there as it was so wet but this is a matter of principle. For the prices charged, in general this place needs tidying up as you can get spotless and beautiful cottages elsewhere for this price - e.g. in the Cotswolds, which is where we are now. We have just paid a cheaper price for a 7 day stay in a stunning cottage in Broadway, which is one of the most beautiful towns in the UK. Rhiwlas could be a good place to stay as the landscape/ scenery is stunning in the area.

Great location, enjoyed being remote yet on a working farm. Our daughter really enjoyed the sheep and cows. Cosy warm cottage with plenty of room for everyone. Enjoyed the wood burning stove too. Owner was very welcoming and helpful.

A very good remote location, but easy to get to surrounding places. This was what we were looking for. The quality of accommodation exceeded our expectations. Great value for money.

We spent a week at Rhiwlas in late October as our nephew was getting married in Bala and had the reception at the nearby Lake Vyrnwy hotel. We took full advantage of the location to do some touring around. The mountain road to Bala from the North West corner of the lake is an absolutely spectacular run - just hope no-one comes to meet you! The cottage easily coped with the demands of six adults and three infants (only one mobile thank goodness).

Very friendly hosts, the children played cricket every evening with the son of the house :-)! Beautiful place and surroundings, perhaps a bit out of the way for what we had planned to see, so we drove a lot. But we had wonderful weather which helped :-). I would definitely recommend a stay here. It was a very relaxing place, would love to come back again!!

The cottage and farm experience were wonderful for our children. Staying on a working farm was very educational. The 16th century mill cottage had a lot of character and felt very appropriate for a Christmas holiday. The nearby Lake Vyrnwy was exceptionally beautiful and the bird watching opportunities were second to none.
