The cottage itself was excellent, the downstairs bedroom was small but the one upstairs was huge and light with a really comfy king size bed.. Joan & richard were very welcoming ,friendly and helpful and the locals in the pub were really friendly and invited us to join them ,really nice.

The cottage provided us with all our needs.. It was clean, homely and extremely comfortable. The hosts Joan and Richard could not do enough for you and went out if their way to make you feel welcome and to be part of the community. The locals from day one were welcoming and again made you welcomed into their community. I would definitely look to stay at the cottage again. The cottage and the hosts I would introduce to friends should I ever be asked to recommend a place to stay. Finally Joan provided meal on some of the evenings which were plentiful and good home cooking. Again I would recommend to anyone staying in the cottage to try Joan’s food they will not be disappointed.

The cottage was really nice with plenty of space, everything you needed to enjoy a self catering holiday.. We did not cook much in the cottage as The Red Lion Pub next door was brilliant, the food Joan made for us was very good and lots of it at a very reasonable price as were the drinks. Joan and Richard could not have been better hosts, they both work very hard to make everyone welcome. They made you feel like a friend in their home rather than a guest. The bed was so comfortable and the shower room was huge and it was all nicely decorated. The villagers all made us very welcome too and we had a good laugh each night. We were given advice on where to visit and how to get there by either Joan, Richard, Dave, Darren or any of the other villagers. The little shop opposite has a good variety of goods and the owner Michael is also very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and hope to visit again in the future as it is a great base to visit the many places near by.

Joan, the owner of the cottage and the Red Lion was very friendly, helpful and made our stay very enjoyable.. Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was very comfortable, warm, clean and everything that we needed was provided. The upstairs bedroom was very large with a comfortable king sized bed and large en-suite. Joan and the villagers made us feel very welcome when we went in the pub and the meals were very good, especially the apple pie! The local shop is also well worth a visit and the owner, Michael, is also very friendly. We were visiting the Great Little Trains of Wales and Yew Tree Cottage was the perfect base, just an hour and a half from most of the stations through the stunning Snowdonia National Park. We would certainly book Yew Tree Cottage if we were visiting the area in the future. Thank you Joan.

Yew Tree cottage is clean, warm, comfortable and spacious, the perfect base for exploring mid and north Wales.. We received a very warm welcome from Joan the owner of the cottage and landlady of the Red Lion next door but one. The Red Lion is a great place to have an evening meal (the food is excellent) and a drink, everyone was extremely friendly and we felt very much at home. We intend to visit again later on in the year.

Great place to stay as it had everything.. A bathroom each was a bonus. Joan looked after us so well and fed us every night after our travels. I would have liked the public transport to be more frequent as it is nice to dump the car but the station in Welshpool is only a short drive away and parking is free there.

We had a lovely week at Yew Tree Cottage! The cottage itself is extremely comfortable, very well furnished and equipped, in a beautiful location, and the owners (Joan and Richard, who run the excellent pub next door) are outstandingly friendly and helpful. We definitely hope to be back. Strongly recommended!

It was the owners who made Yew Tree Cottage such a special place. They made sure we had everything we needed - friendly, but very professional. The next door pub, which they also own, was great - a nice relaxing place, with wonderful home cooking and friendly locals. We enjoyed our stay, and felt very much at home. It was a good starting point for day trips.

It was very welcoming and relaxing, everything was there that you need for a peaceful holiday.. Quiet village location next to the owners pub that also does food and the 'locals' were very friendly. Near the 1 and only shop, easy access for the morning milk and papers. Plenty to do in the area and the pub locals can advise you on where to go and what is there. We look forward to returning in the future.

This cottage was, overall, very warm and inviting. We were very comfortable and our landlady very obliging. Being able to have dinner in the adjacent pub when necessary was a great bonus and the food was good. The store keeper runs a quaint, but efficient store, and all the local identities were very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Wales, being able to go out each day as we wanted to, and going back to our base in the evening. Wales is a beautiful country, and we covered a lot of interesting places and things.

The way that Mr & Mrs Wyatt went out of their way to make us feel at home.. My wife enjoyed seeing the baby lamb being born and bottle feeding another lamb. I enjoyed the meals and having a local brew in the pub owned by the Wyatts and the way the Locals made me feel at home.

Yew Tree Cottage is an ideal base for discovering some of the best kept secrets of Wales. The location gives easy access to many of the most beautiful and unspoiled parts of Wales and England, while the cottage itself is tastefully renovated and provides a great place to relax after a day of investigating hilltop castles and border market towns . . . that’s if you can keep away from the delightful village pub! We like to hike, although there’s loads to do even if you don’t want to stray too far from your car. Castle Caereinion gives easy access to trails on Offa’s Dyke Path, Southern Snowdonia, and the Elan Valley. The drive to each of these places is part of the adventure, and if you want to avoid crowds and mass tourism any of these three areas will give you a unique experience that is increasingly hard to find in the UK. We hiked some of the lesser known peaks around the Cader Idris and Elan Valley areas, cheating a little by parking at trail heads at the top of mountain passes. (As with everywhere, if you avoid weekends you’ll have fewer people around to spoil your enjoyment of the rugged mountain vistas). We were particularly impressed by ‘The Desert of Wales’, with wild horses and dramatic lakes. The border between Wales and England is dotted with too many castles to mention, but we’d recommend visiting Montgomery Castle (about 8 miles away) as well as Welshpool Castle (about 5 miles). There are also many ‘market days ‘ in the surrounding towns worth checking out. When you are not out exploring, the cottage has two bedrooms, with the upstairs master suite providing a better experience than most hotels many times the price. Free wi-fi is also a big plus, particularly for keeping in touch with work and family in an area that doesn't have great coverage. Bathrooms are large by UK standards, and there is a fully equipped kitchen for eating in, as well as satellite TV. There is also a small garden area to sit in. One of the best parts about the cottage is that Joan and Richard also own the village pub, The Red Lion, as well as raise cattle, ducks and sheep. This means that you can get some of the best local steak available next door to the cottage, making eating out very tempting. (The pub is small, very friendly and not at all intrusive . . . you wouldn't know it was there while in the cottage). You will probably never have experienced better hosts than Joan and Richard . . . you’ll just have to see for yourself!

First impressions really good. Three televisions all working, with good selection of channels. Personal and very genuine service by our hosts, and also very friendly locals who all added to our welcome. Lovely service in pub with evening meal and excellent breakfast brought to our door. Nothing was too much trouble, having a disabled mum this was extremely important. The pub is super friendly and not noisy at night. Probably missed something good out, but everything was excellent and made for a great and relaxing holiday.

An excellent cottage which we really couldn't fault. It was home from home. Lovely quiet location. The owners pub was a real bonus only a few steps from our front door. Owners were so friendly and provided us with some lovely evening meals. Probably the most enjoyable cottage rental we have ever had. Will return and certainly recommend it to friends and family.
