Lovely quiet farmhouse with great views. Spotless, extremely well equipped with the most comfortable beds and the owner Sian is delightful. Fabulous walking area around Rhayader and ideally situated. Will definitely return.

Cwmcelyn is just perfect, we have had two weeks and loved every second. This cottage is so beautiful, rolling hills and fields in every direction with an abundance of wildlife. We have watched squirrels playing as well as a family of rabbits with lots of babies who share the lawn. The best thing is it's so safe for the children, there's a wooded area to the side with a gate where they have been making a den but for younger ones, the main garden is fully fenced with a little play area. The owner has also included plenty of toys, games, books and a few dvds. For the grownups, it's been bliss sitting on the patio at night with a glass of wine or relaxing in the hot tub. We've seen bats and an owl has been very vocal too. Because it's so rural there is very little light pollution so we've stayed up late star gazing and then slept in in the morning. The beds are super comfy! There are plenty of things to do in the area, the Elan valley is gorgeous and for excellent local food there is a quaint little 16th century pub, the Triangle Inn which is only a ten minute drive away. I highly recommend this property and we can't wait to return.

The cottage was wonderful and had everything you needed to make your stay perfect.. My only disappointment was that there didn’t appear to be any public footpaths/walking trails directly from the cottage. We did go through the fields but not really sure that was allowed as it is private land.

We have just got back from a wonderful stay here at Cwmcelyn, truly the most peaceful and beautiful place I have yet to stay in Wales.. The Cottage was immaculate and exceeded our expectations 100%. Some lovely walks just on the door step also. Hot Tub was just a brilliant added bonus, nothing better than sitting relaxing in there watching the sun go down! Sian was a wonderful host, her homemade Bara Brith was certainly a lovely welcome. We hope to be back again!

Great location, beautiful views, cottage is best equipped we have stayed in so far.. The Jacuzzi was great, for the views and back massaging powers. Wet room was good showers in both bathrooms were very good and powerful. Beds super comfy. Owners left a lovely homemade Bara brith, and we're very welcoming. We all had a lovely relaxing, although we walked miles in the Elan valley, time. Would highly recommend.

We had an amazing holiday again.. We will definitely be booking with Sykes again for our family holiday next year. Cwmcelyn was the perfect holiday cottage for us. The secure garden with play frame and hot tub were a huge hit with the kids! Sian the owner was great and even baked us a cake and even dropped by to tell us she had dropped some two day old lambs in the field surrounding the house if we wanted to take a walk to see them. We’ve had two perfect holidays in nantmel now, thank you Sykes!!

We have just returned from a fantastic week at Cwmcelyn. It has been lovingly restored and has been made to feel like a home away from home, with everything you need for a relaxing break. There are three bedrooms. 2 are a nice size considering the size of the property, the 3rd was cosy but it would be a tight squeze for a 2nd person. All were clean and dust free, and beds were comfortable. Ample space in the bathroom and wetroom too. The kitchen and utility room totally assist you in making the most of a self catering hol with virtually every utensil and appliance you could need to cook and subsequently clean with. It was nice to arrive to find milk tea and coffee already stocked, with various other usful bits and bobs left by other guests. We felt compelled to add to the collection! The diswasher and tumble drier were handy too and you probably could get through the whole day without reusing the same plate or glass as they were very numerous.....we obviously didn't get that lazy though. The lounge was cosy although make good use of the fire as the stone floor was rather cold.(but we did have a cold week) The best feature, for me, anyway was the hot tub. Its covered but still gives you amazing views day and night (oh the stars!) and unlike some places i have stayed.....it was as hot or cool as we needed for us and our children. The garden is fully enclosed with a gate and safe for children to play freely. This cottage truly has it all if you are looking for a secluded relaxing break. There isn't a lot to do in the winter, but the local villages and towns have all you need stock up, with some lovely little villages to just explore. Many thanks to Sian and family for making Cymcelyn such a beautiful place to holiday. We can't wait to come back again.

This cottage was fantastic and the owners were great too.. Very relaxing week even with a seven month old and a three year old. The outside area is so safe and my boy could play for hours. The fresh air definitely made them sleep. The hot tub was an added bonus. The kitchen equipment was amazing and having the washer dryer really helped with the babies clothes/bibs etc. We explored the area - red kites, elan valley, drove to the coast, train trip at Devils Bridge. All fantastic days out and worth doing. We even took the boys swimming at the local leisure centre on a wet day which has a fab warm pool. Thanks Sian for a great week in mid Wales. We hope to return.

We have just returned from a perfect family holiday here. The cottage is in a quiet location, surrounded by sheep fields. The garden is huge and has a children's play and luxury outdoor furniture. The hot tub was amazing, great fun for the kids and relaxing for the adults. Great that there was the wooden canopy over to protect from the weather. The cottage was immaculately clean, and the owner had even baked a lovely Welsh bread for us and left fresh milk in the fridge.

What an absolutely amazing cottage this is! The cottage is situated down it's own private drive where the only thing you can see or hear is the birds in the trees, sheep in the fields or the rabbits and squirrels that pop by the bottom of the garden! The cottage itself has everything you could ever need and more, beautifully decorated throughout and thoroughly clean! The hot tub is fantastic to sit and relax with a glass of wine looking over the valley and the garden is ideal for families with its large lawn area and climbing frame!

A little slice of Welsh countryside heaven.. We've never been so disappointed to leave at the end of a holiday! The cottage is beautifully kept and the children just loved the garden and play equipment. Mum and Dad were very pleased with the Hot Tub too. Just the perfect getaway and the area is packed with things to do, young or old. It's impossible to overstate just what a wonderful time we had and we will be back before very long! Thanks Sian, lovely to meet you.

This cottage was situated in a great location to relax and unwind with family and friends. The location is quiet and secluded, with the only sign of life being the animals and occasional tractor. The accomodation has been beautifully updated with all the modcons (Dishwasher, Utility Room, Wifi etc.) and is well stocked with everything you would need for your stay. The owner is very friendly and made us feel welcome straight away. Within our party were three young children and the grounds were all enclosed within fences to keep them safe, there was also a really nice play area (with swings and slide) for the children. There is also a well maintained Jacuzzi which is great for relaxing after a long walk.
