We enjoyed cycling here despite the issues with the closure of part of the lake route (opposite side of the lake to the cottage), & enjoyed cycling around the nearby lake at Bala.
And we enjoyed a bit of stargazing & astrophotography under the dark skies.
Certainly we came away a lot more relaxed & refreshed.

"Beautiful view of the Lake from the cottage, which was spotlessly clean, warm and equipped with everything visitors could possibly need."
It was so quiet and peaceful and we were fortunate to have had glorious weather for the duration of our stay. We visited Llyn Tegid and Oswestry, the old Workhouse at Llanfyllin, and went on some pretty walks close to the cottage and the dam. The only slight disappointment was that it was not possible to drive around the Lake due to the clear felling necessitated by the damage caused by Storm Darragh. We would definitely recommend these cottages.

"Lovely and clean."
Accurate description of property. We needed a short break for New Year due to firework displays. Unfortunately we hit a particularly fierce storm. So were indoors a lot! But lovely cottage. We took all our food for the stay which was handy. And extra torches. Nice to have smart TV so we logged into Netflix in the evening.

Splendid picture perfect views. Faultlessly clean and very comfortable bed, all finished to a high specification like new.
Very peaceful idyllic, exactly as described.
Even with poor weather this a beautiful place to stay, we will certainly return.
Thank you to the owners who left us a great welcome pack, much appreciated.
Make sure you go well stocked for the week as you won’t want to leave to bother with shops or pubs. Follow the driving information given as the sat nav route is no fun for drivers used to town driving.

"The venue is beautiful, property clean and inviting."
Owners are very attentive and try and resolve issues as they occur. Missed having a washing machine, would benefit from an enclosed dog field so can be off lead to have a run around. Loved the extra touches of welshcakes and wine. Also great to have all the household basics you need to start the holiday. Great advice from owner to visit Coed-Y-Dinas Garden Centre where you can get great gifts for family. Would highly recommend a visit. Thank you,

"We had a great stay at this property which was impeccable finished and had a stunning view of the Lake."
The only negatives are...
1. One of our dogs slipped down the pine stairs as there was no carpet making it a bit slippy under paws. We had to carry them down the stairs as they were both frightened to walk down.
2. There wasn't really anywhere to walk the dogs for toilet breaks other than the driveway leading up to the property. This was OK during the day, but not ideal at night.
Having said that, it is a stunning location and a great property.

"Excellent location with a view of Lake Vyrynwy, and a beautiful holiday let."
Would advise taking a cool box and groceries for a few days, as the nearest convenience store is about 3 miles away. Mobile phone signal is almost non-existent, and Wi-Fi is limited. Be aware - satnavs can lead down some narrow tracks. However, it did not detract from an opportunity to unwind and relax in wonderful surroundings.

"I had a lovely stay at Hen Blaid."
It really is in a beautiful location with stunning views of the lake from every window. The property itself is also lovely, it is the perfect combination of modern facilities (such as the en-suite shower room) and cosy cottage feel, with the hardwood floors and staircase, and the classic deep windows. I would definitely stay here again!

"Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting."
If you want peace and quiet this cottage is perfect. We stayed for a week.
3 cottages together connected with internal locked doors. Thought this might be a problem with noise but we did not have any issues with the people next door at all.
Very clean and supplied with a few basics, tea, coffee, milk, bin liners and liquid, (things that you tend to forget) Also nice touch, bottle of wine and Welsh cakes (thank you)
Owners very friendly and welcoming., including Bob the dog.
Would highly recommend.

"What an idyllic place to stay!"
The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and very cozy, comfortable bed and lovely little bathroom with an excellent shower. The owners (who were very welcoming when we saw them the next day) had left all the essentials for a cup of tea/coffee on arrival which was appreciated and also the thoughtful addition of Welsh cakes and a bottle of wine.
What we absolutely fell in love with though was the views looking out over lake vyrnwy, the website photos don’t prepare you for how beautiful they are and waking up to that each morning of our stay and watching the sun set over it in the evening was just perfect, we didn’t want to leave.
This was the perfect base for our getaway with our newborn and two dogs, the owner offered a travel cot but we had our own - nice to know that they have that facility though. There are lots of lovely pram friendly walks near by, we loved the sculpture trail around lake vrynwy and also had a lovely day out walking round Bala which is not too far to drive to.
We would definitely come back here or to one of the other 2 adjoining cottages as it was just beautiful.

"Hen Blaid is simple clean and modern (smart tv and wifi) and was excellent accommodation for us (two adults and two dogs) for a week stay, during which the weather was awful."
We still managed many walks - (as described some were straight from the door) and were able to take a few trips out (Bala, Barmouth) if you are prepared for non-urban roads (very narrow, passing places etc.) and add appropriately to your journey time there are some great trips close by. This (speed of travel or the weather) may also be the reason the area was wonderfully quiet. We did a three mile walk every morning and a longer walk every day, mostly on the forestry trails, we never met a person (we bumped into our host and Bob the dog once - and they work there!) there were people down at the dam and the cafes and short walks there. How much of this was due to the weather who knows. We left a couple of old books and a local area map, which might be useful for other guests, also it might be an idea to have the oven and tv manuals in the info pack (not very complicated to work out but easier with manuals) also adding the nearest hospital, doctor and vet to the existing lists provided might be useful. We have neglected Wales over the last few years but now the children are grown this was a wonderful encounter with the heart of the country and lived up to expectation and we hope to return.

"Amazing view from the property."

"We had a wonderful time at Hen Blaid, the cottage was really modern and clean and we really can’t fault the facilities."
The surroundings are breathtaking with incredible views of Lake Vyrnwy, it’s a really calm, quiet place to stay.
The facilities in Hen Blaid were perfect for us. The smart tv worked well and that shower is blissful. The bed is really comfy and there is plenty of storage for clothes etc.
The one piece of feedback I’d give is the clock in the living room ticks incredibly loudly, you can hear it over the TV and it can also be heard from the bedroom so I did have to remove the batteries from that. Not a major gripe but worth mentioning.
Overall my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hen Blaid and would highly recommend it as a lovely place to unwind.

"Lovely cottage in a great location overlooking Lake Vyrnwy, ideal for a peaceful relaxing holiday."
The only issues we experienced are; no telephone signal, internet kept dropping out and television picture kept pixilating.
The cottage would benefit having better signage on the main road. The addition of a fire pit outside for those chilly evenings for guests to sit under the stars. Also a BBQ for guests to make the most of the outdoors. However we would recommend the property and would book again.

"We were the first people to stay at this renovated cottage and it was absolutely lovely."
Very well thought through in its design in an amazing position with exceptional views from the cottage windows (especially the framed view from the bedroom).
Little extras that have come to mean a great deal over many years of holidaying in self catering accommodation were all provided. In particular - milk in the fridge on arrival, a bottle of wine and some Welsh cakes. A bath sheet (not a skimpy bath towel) and a supply of tea bags, coffee and sugar sachets (we had forgotten our tea bags so these were particularly welcome as the nearest shop is quite a way). I would suggest that supplies are taken with you rather than waiting until you arrive to stock up. The shower room felt luxurious rather than just functional and there were televisions both upstairs and downstairs. In short, exceptional accommodation and we would definitely return.

Llanwddyn is a small village at the head of the Vyrnwy valley, only half a mile from beautiful Lake Vyrnwy, and the impressive Victorian dam. Standing close to the Snowdonia National Park, and between the Cambrian and Berwyn mountain ranges, this whole area offers stunning countryside. The lake and RSPB estate provides wonderful watersports facilities including windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and sailing as well as game and fly fishing.
