A tour of Abercamlais (between March and September) comes highly recommended where you can gain a greater insight into the history of both the house and grounds. The bustling market town of Brecon is situated 6 miles east, well known for its famous jazz festival, independent shops and cafes, history, military connections and, of course, the magnificent cathedral. Walkers and cyclists have a great choice of landscapes: follow the river and canal paths, or climb one of the many hilltops including the Black Mountains, Fan Fawr and Pen Y Fan. Family attractions include the National Showcaves (17 miles) The Big Pit (20 Miles) and Llangorse Lake (13 miles) where you can hire canoes and paddleboards. And the vibrant market town of Hay on Wye is only 21 miles away. This charming stone cottage is set within the heart of the estate adjoining the main country house, where guests are free to explore the riverbanks of the River Usk and wild meadows. Access to the cottage is via the gated courtyard. The rear door offers access to the kitchen, a beautifully designed and well equipped space offering everything you may need for preparing meals for friends and family. From here, a small hallway leads to a generously sized dining room with picture windows overlooking the estate grounds. A table and chairs for six is perfect for catching up over a hearty meal, whilst the larger body of the hallway includes a ground floor shower room with a WC and a staircase to the first floor. For relaxing, there s a large lounge with comfortable corner sofa that sits in front of a wood burner, and there is a Smart TV for entertainment along with a selection of books and board games. Upstairs, there s a generously sized landing with comfortable seating, and guests have the choice of three bedrooms and a home office. The master suite has dual aspect windows with views onto the estate and tennis courts, and a generously sized king size bed perfect for a peaceful night's rest. Then there s a king size room enjoying views across the grounds and a twin room with 2 6 beds that are suitable for children. A home office room provides a suitable space for anyone needing to work from home and a family bathroom with a bath and WC finishes the interior. Outside, to the rear of the cottage is an enclosed garden with a table and chairs and a charcoal BBQ. Here, guests can relax and listen to the constant babble of the brook that sits at the bottom of the garden. Guests will also have access to a stretch of the River Usk for wild swimming and fly fishing (guests to supply their own rod licence), an all weather tennis court and a wild meadow walk. Guests can also take a tour of the house and gardens by arrangement with the owner.
