This was our second trip to Wales in two years, this time we opted to bring along our two Border Terriers.
Wendy (the owner) was very welcoming and a wealth of local knowledge, you couldn’t ask more from an owner.
The house itself was very clean and had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The garden was enclosed and that neither of our BTs could find an escape route despite their persistence in trying.
Location wise the property is opposite the Roast Ox Inn. Don’t let this put you off, as the pub and village are very quiet. You will get a good nights sleep each night.
Hay On Wye is just a few miles drive away and is well worth a visit. The Brecon Beacons and miles and miles of beautiful scenery meant we were truly spoilt for natural beauty that is on the doorstep. There is so much to do in the area within a 90 minute drive of the house. Just check out the T.I. leaflets and flyers that are in the house or just ask Wendy !
Weather wise we needn’t of taken our walking jackets as it did not rain, but Wales is very green and cannot be so green without the rains, so go prepared.
The nearest supermarket is in Hay On Wye (Co Op), there is a fuel station in Clyro that sells the essentials along with petrol and diesel.
An up to date sat nav is also very handy, without one, our journeys would’ve been much longer.
As the house is not on an A road, the roads can be quite narrow although not busy by any means but it helps to memorise the last “passing” as you may need to reverse back to it if you are confronted by a tractor etc.
We all loved the under cover hot tub, it was very nice to relax in after the walks to help ease those aching feet and muscles.
We would recommend this property to all and at some point we will return for another weeks stay. The property is good value for money and we could not thank Wendy enough for making our stay perfect.
