Well equipped and spotlessly clean accommodation, a thoughtful welcome pack and a beautiful, tranquil location.. Beacons Rest is a good base for exploring the Brecon Beacons - we particularly enjoyed walks around Talybont and Talgarth. The accommodation is situated by a pretty stretch of the River Usk with a scenic walk into Brecon. A very relaxing way to spend a few days and we hope to return.

Care has been taken to make the outside slip proof, however in wet/frosty weather the wooden steps remain a hazard..

A wonderful cottage, in a lovely little village, with the town a two minute drive away and walks on the doorstep.. Mr & Mrs McBrearty we’re so accommodating, and we loved the freshly baked bread!

Very peaceful place and the weather was beautiful for February.. The only downside for me was the flies (lots of them) in the room because it's in the countryside.

It is ideally situated to explore the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. There are some excellent walks that can be done from Beacons Rest. These start with a lovely riverside path which leads to the town of Brecon. My favourite was the ascent of Pen y Crug. The view from the summit of Brecon and the Pen y Fan range with half a dozen red kites and a couple of buzzards soaring overhead was marvellous. A walk description is in the apartment, although this can be considerably shortened by doing the walk direct from Brecon. Beacons Rest is very well equipped and sunbathing on the balcony, even in September, with the beautiful views and sightings of rabbits, squirrels, red kites, buzzards and ravens was very relaxing. The owners were most welcoming and presented me with a delicious loaf of newly baked bread on my arrival. The narrow access road is rarely a problem, because very little traffic uses it. Provisions can be obtained from Morrisons or the Cooperative in Brecon. I enjoyed my holiday at Beacons Rest so much, that I have already booked for September 2019!

"Beacons Rest" is set in a very quiet and peaceful location, down a single track lane about 2 miles from Brecon town, the property is light and airy, small and compact and is an ideal location to make a base to explore the Brecon Beacons and the surrounding area for a couple, on their own.. The Owners of the property are really lovely, we were left, Milk, Butter, fresh fruit and a local Brecon newspaper also some delicious home made honey bread, really lush, nice touch!! Nothing seemed to much trouble. Would we return to "Beacons Rest" again?? well as a rule we only tour an area once then move on, but Yes we would certainly be very happy to stay there again if ever we happened to revisit the area again.

Beacons Rest is in a beautiful part of Wales with lovely landscape and scenery and plenty of walks right on the doorstep.. The owners went over and above to welcome us to their property, which is an annex to their house, sited above their garage and accessed by some outside steps at the rear. This was fine for us but would not be very suitable for anyone with mobility problems, who struggles with stairs. On arrival we were given a freshly baked home made loaf which was really tasty. There was fresh milk, tea bags, etc in the room and everything was extremely clean. The bed was comfortable with lovely cotton sheets, there were beautiful thick towels, even the loo rolls and kitchen roll were of top quality. The room is a studio with a small 2 hob electric cooker and an all in one microwave/oven/grill, which we did use to cook with although cooking space was limited. Wifi signal was limited, however the owners could overcome this with an extender. Overall we had a lovely peaceful and tranquil few days at this property and would definitely recommend it.

Beacon's Rest was good in every way - frendly and welcoming owners, good facilities, comfortable and with everything one would need during a stay.. Kitchen facilities good - no oven but twin microwave/grill covered all types for cooking. Fridge freezer allowed food to be bought and kept or frozen until needed. The location was great for visiting places within the National Park and further afield - South Wales including Cardiff. Brecon itself is right on the doorstep with ample car parking and three supermarkets. Location itself on the edge of the river on a 'no through road' meant it was extremely quiet and peaceful. TV worked fine - during my stay the Olympics were on and I was able to watch all I wanted. I would certainly recommend Beacon's Rest to anyone wanting a peaceful and relaxing break amidst lovely scenery.

Studio-size unusual-format accommodation, this little hideaway gem is excellent. Discreet, helpful owners on site. Tucked away down a lane with fields above and river below, it has charm and calm to chill out. The nearby town is blessedly free from the high street, the surrounding beacons, waterway and villages almost mysterious! A one-off quality experience but one you will hanker after returning to. Curiously addictive.

It was our first trip to Wales, and we were amazed at how beautiful it was. Beacons Rest is perfectly located for full access to Brecon and the surrounding area. Whilst small the apartment is perfectly organised, and has everything you could need. It was also incredibly clean.
